Nail Art Tutorial: Purple Dainty Nails

My love for nail art never fades.  It has been more than 10 years ago when I started "trying" to do nail art using random tools as there wasn't a lot of options back then!

I stopped doing nail art after getting pregnant, giving birth, breastfeeding then my schedule goes extremely busy from looking after each milestones of my son I almost never wear polish anymore!

Today, even with a little time on hand before I go to bed, that's the best time for me to schedule a quick nail art with the help of my ever supportive hubby who helps me grab things or open up polish bottles as you all know --- Girls are weakest with wet polish on! :D

I am getting back to my MOJO so here you go!  Another installment of my Nail Art Tutorial!  I hope you enjoyed watching the quick #AMWIGtv as well!

Lace Nails Tutorial

I was inspired to do a Lace nail art design (which I have done many years ago) when I saw these 2 shades of Happy Skin x Posh Nails Express Gel Polish.  February maybe a month of LOVE and you're probably expecting hearts after hearts!  Not this time!  Lace are romantic too you know! *winks*

There are a total of 4 shades in the collection and I got 2 to work with - TLC and Lush.

Applied 2 coats of TLC as shown on photo below and let dry

Nail Art Tutorial: Sparkly Space Gray Nails

Before 2018 ended, Girlstuff revealed their Holiday Collection called Au Naturel (Back to Basics).
It wasn't the Holiday collection I was expecting but it was definitely one of those pleasant surprises because this turned out to be one of my TOP favorites!  (I mean I love all the collection they released but this one is one of those rare moments I was just staring at all the polish shades wondering which one to use first and mind you, I usually make quick decisions!)

So after making sure my fingers are healed (from allergies), I finally did a very simple nail art inspired by one of my favorite shade from the collection called Exposed.

Exposed is one of those gray shades you always wanted to sport but can't seem to find the right ones that would work for your skin tone --- well, this is it!  This is a perfect shade for ANY skin tone!

AMW Version: Sparkly Space Gray Nails
I inserted a sparkly element to celebrate the start of 2019!  Think about fireworks!

Step 1:
Apply a base coat to protect your nails, I used Girlstuff Nail Revive prior to taking photos, let it dry and go ahead and apply your choice of base color.

I picked Expose shade and applied 2 coats.  Wait for it to completely dry which will take approximately 10 minutes max!

Solique x Agoo's Holiday Nails

Happy Friday!
I am so happy today I am finally sharing you a nail art design using Solique x Agoo collection.  My right pointer finger suffered from extreme allergic reaction (it looks so bad I can't take a photo of my hand!)  That explains why my nails were bare for the past weeks (if you watch my stories on Instagram).

Thankfully, just in time for the holidays and just in time for Solique's newest collection (after Solique x Benefit), Agoo Bengzon came up with a 2nd collection of this sought after no-UV lamp gel polish!

It was a surprise for me but I was able to use ALL the shades in the collection for this particular nail art design.  That said, the shades work together and my nails look festive in a non-traditional way!

a photo of Solique x Agoo's Holiday Nail Art Tutorial by Nikki Tiu

The nail art design is easy to do because it doesn't have to be perfect, all you need to do is to create a bit of swirl and better if you have a thin nail art brush!

Step 1:
Apply a coat or 2 of Solique Anchor Grip Gel Base Coat.  Let dry.

Nail Art Tutorial: Bridal Nails for Crystal Fashion Show

You all know by now that I had my runway walk at the Crystal Bridal Fair wearing a Zandra Lim Bridal Gown for a cause last weekend.

I had my first fitting and I absolutely have NO idea what's in store for me.  I was only told by Zandra that she will be putting gold accents so I just played it by ear and created a very simple nail art design apt for this gorgeous gown.

Please bear with the uneven application, I usually clean up the cuticles the next day when nail polish is COMPLETELY dry!

Inspired by the blushing bride, I picked a nice blush pink shade as base topped with gorgeous shimmers and simple rhinestones that fit the color of my Bridal Gown.

Nail Art Tutorial: Falling Petals by Happy Skin Express Gel Polish x KC

KC Conception is an Actress, TV host, Jewelry Designer and so much more.
I am not surprised when she collaborated with Happy Skin Gel Polish to create her own collection.  I mean this girl is a Jane of all Trades!

So I got my hands on the two shades from the limited edition collection.  These shades were personally chosen by KC herself inspired by her favorite flower: The Rose.

I created a very simple nail art design inspired from the bottle and the design printed.

I call this Falling Petals.

Step 1:
Apply 2 coats of Beauty.  Beauty is a luxurious apricot color, a striking modern nude.

The polish itself gives off high shine.  1 coat is enough to cover your nail base but I always like 2 coats for extra boost of color!  Let dry.

Nail Art Tutorial: Sweet Fimo Nails (For Kids and Kids At Heart!)

Fimo nails started in the AMW household quite early!  It was year 2009 when I ordered online and had Mr. AMW manually cut them for me (Read FIMO CLAY HERE)

I've done several nail art designs featuring the Post Cut Fimo Clay here ---

And expect me to share more because, Girlstuff came up with pre-cut Fimo Polymer Clay and they are even cuter than ever!  So my nail art design is inspired by the cute clay and Kyle can't get enough of these!

Step 1:

Nail Art Tutorial: Medal Nails

I wasn't really aiming to create "Medal-Like" nails.  But it was late at night before my big day of Hosting Duty.  I looked at my nails at exactly 12mn and my eyes grew wide --- I had to do something about my nails!

Pulling myself apart from my son's comforting hug (Most difficult thing to do!), I motioned Mr. AMW to follow me (because he is supportive like that!) hahahah

I promised myself I won't go overboard with my nail art, I just needed a couple of minutes to make my nails look decent for the next day's shoot and I understood very well I had to wake up early!

TADA!

As I was laying at night getting ready to sleep, I looked at my nails and decided to change it because I was off to an important event the next day!

What to do at 1:00am?  A very simple nail art tutorial with polishes that dries up pretty quickly!

Introduction, my Summer Romance Nails inspired by the Summer Romance Collection of Girlstuff Nail Polish!

Nail Art Tutorial: Bridal-Inspired Nails

When I received my very own Bella Donna Box from TenTen Nail, I knew I had the next nail art tutorial in mind!  A very simple Bridal-Inspired nail art that I can wear even on my own wedding day!  (I had a white base too on my wedding day and a lot of colorful flowers on it!)

IF, I get married today, I'll go for the more simple route and this is my finished product.

Nail Art Tutorial: Cosmic Nails

I planned another nail art tutorial for you but when I opened my box of Nail Art Tools, all my materials from 2-Way Nail Art Pens to my favorite L.A. Colors Art Deco polishes are dried out --- come on, 5 long years of not using them?  Siyempre naman!

So instead of sulking, I've decided to pick a sponge and create Cosmic Inspired Nail Art Design.  Since my son is so much into Space, my nails immediately puts a big smile on his cute li'l face!

What you need:
Sponge, Base Shade and at least 2 shades to create gradient nails.
Lastly, let's not forget that quick dry top coat because I'm always rushing!

Nail Art Tutorial: Love My Nails

After FIVE LONG years, I've finally posted a decent Nail Art Tutorial post again!
I can't promise this to be a regular thing but for sure, I'm getting my "mojo" back as I'm loving my nails every single time I look at it!  (Iba ang good vibes ng naka nail art!  In My case!)

It was one unexpected evening that Kyle got tired and slept earlier than usual.  I've decided to clean my toe nails and finger nails!  Since they are clean na, I looked into my nail polish collection and decided to create a quick and very simple Nail Art Design that represents me the most --- DOTS!

My friend Janina told me she tends to wear Polka-dotted outfit when she knew she's meeting me --- so I must be a DOT to her?  :P

I picked a polish from the Orly Breathable Treatment + Color Collection and I picked the bright red shade called LOVE MY NAILS as base --- that explains the title of this nail art tutorial!

a photo of How to do dots nail art design

Step 1:
Apply 2 coats of Orly Breathable Treatment + Color in Love My Nails.  Wait for it to completely dry before you apply the design.

Note: There are some nail art designs that need a wet polish base, not this one though.

Hi AMW Friends!
Do you miss my Nail Art Tutorials???  (I wish to hear or feel some YES right there!) :P

So it was one quiet Holy Week night when Kyle Nash was asleep.  I was looking at the GirlStuff Bloggers Elite Summer Collection and I was itching to create something because the shades are not only perfect for summer, they are perfect for Easter Nails!

To those who wonder how I squeeze time to do the things I love to do with a toddler around, well, here's the answer!  As I was grabbing all my polishes, nail art tools and my nail art table...I looked up the clock and it says: "2:00am".  So that answers your question!  I am a vampire!  I don't sleep!  hahaha

Nail Art Tutorial: Using GirlStuff Sophisticate's Newest Members

Happy Tuesday AMW friends!

Are you excited for a mini-nail art tutorial?  I said mini because it is very quick and easy to do (yes, even for first-timers) and guess what?  I've finally done a tutorial via video!  YAY!  I did the shoot only once so please bear with the super amateur video!  I just had a time to do a quick nail art while Baby AMW was napping (and it was less than 2 hours) so I had to create something fast and easy PLUS Mr. AMW was at work so  had to do the filming using a tripod so sorry if I wasn't able to focus on the nail!

My nail art design was inspired by GirlStuff Polish newest polishes from the Sophisticate collection.  This collection has a gel-type formula which gave me the idea to create something that works even on a "formal setting".

The Marilyn and Sophia Swirl

L-R Marilyn, Diana and Sophia
Marilyn is a brownish red shade (aka Maroon)
Diana is a matte blue nail color
Sophia on the other hand is a perfect shade if you want to wear white but white looks too weird and fake on you!  This shade has a hint of creamy pink tone making this perfect to work with any other shades if you plan to do nail art!

Nail Art Tutorial: It's A Baby Boy!

Last weekend, Mr. AMW and I had a Pregnancy Shoot at Blow-Up Babies Inc. located at Serendra.  I'll tell you more about my experience doing a pregnancy pictorial once I get the photos!

To prepare for the shoot, I want baby AMW to know how much excited we are to welcome him!  So I've decided to create a nail art design to welcome him!

Nail Art Tutorial: Back to Retro!

When we talk about Retro, I remember 2 things --- Retro inspired dresses....

and the Deee-lite's "Groove is in your heart"..... *laughs*

There's just so much inspiration during the "Retro-Years" so I've decided to create my own Retro Nail Art design!  Nothing too fancy or complicated as I just cut my nails super short!  If you follow me on  Instagram (AskMeWhats), I did mention that this is my shortest nails ever!  And here's a proof that short nails can still do nail art! :)

Nail Art Tutorial: Colorful Leopard Prints

Happy Tuesday AMW friends!  Today, I will be sharing another very simple nail art design good for short nails and even better for first time nail art designers!  As my tummy is growing bigger and bigger each week, I've decided to keep my nail art designs as simple as possible as I'm getting ready to be the busy "mom" I'll soon be!

Animal prints have alway been an easy yet "head turner" type of nail art design.  This time, to create a lively vibe on the usual Leopard Print, I've decided to make it colorful!  Of course, there's no such Leopard in this world with such colorful prints but we can always bend rules and create nail art designs we like!

Step 1:
Apply 2 coats of your preferred base.  Since I want to make the colorful prints pop, I've decided to use a matte white polish from Orly Nail Lacquer called Day Glow.  Let dry.

Nail Art Tutorial: My 34th Birthday!

Today is my birthday!  Happy Birthday to me! :)
I've celebrated 5 birthdays in this blog!  I can still remember the day I turned 30 and it felt like months ago!
To celebrate my special day, I'm sharing a kiddie birthday nail art as mid-30s or 40s or 50s, we can always be child-at-heart!

My 24th Birthday Nails!
*ahem*  mistyped, I meant 34th!  *laughs*

Step 1:
Though my doctor gave me a go signal on using nail polishes, I am still very careful with the nail polish brands I use.  I make sure they are free from the Big 3 (toxic chemicals).  I skipped nail polish base and went ahead and apply 2 coats of Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Narcissist.
I wanted to create a girly, candy-like vibe so I applied this shade only on my pinky, middle and pointer fingernails.

Nail Art Tutorial: I Love My Red Plaid Shirt!

Happy Monday AMW Friends!  I had a lovely weekend with the family so I'm energized to get back to work today!  Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I had a wonderful 1 week break for the Chinese New Years so I was able to finish a Korean Series called "Rooftop Prince" (which I LOVE!) and I was able to feel like a grade school kid on vacation after spending most of my nights playing Bubble Mania and Jewel Mania!  (Seriously, can I get more childish than that? Ahem!  I meant, child-like!) :P

One thing I did over the past week is to play with my short nails!  A lot of you wonders if it's possible to create nail art designs with short nails!  Well, it's definitely possible as I recently cut my nails pretty short to prevent myself from getting scars from scratching my allergies!  Here's a simple "I Love My Plaid Shirt" design!  I will explain to you why the title goes like that!

Since February is my birthday month and I looked back at my old photos on how I celebrated my birthday!  Year 2011, I celebrated it with my high school friends (and their kids)!  Looking back, it was a super fun event!  (See how the kids were all excited blowing my candle?)  As I looked at my red plaid shirt which is a favorite of mine!  I bought it in Hong Kong a couple of years ago and I always get compliments every time I wore it!  So today, my nail art design is inspired by this lovely shirt of mine which I missed wearing!  I will definitely wear it again one of these days!  Good luck to me if it still fits though! *crosses fingers* LOL
