Happy first day of September!!! One month to go and I can't wait to have a vacation! I'll be seeing my gorgeous Blogger Friends soon!!! (you girls know who you are *group hugs!!!*)
To start off the month, I will be posting a nail art tutorial that can't get any simpler! You can even challenge your kids to do this (not that I recommend polish application to kids) but you know what I mean! It's FUN to do!
Newspaper art is not an original of mine, I learned this trick via internet and I've seen a couple of the girls have done it! Thanks to all the girls who shared this trick on YouTube and Blogs! Sharing is definitely beautiful!
Keep in mind that the newspaper art doesn't have to be perfect, it's even better if you can choose different font styles. That way, you get a more "dramatically old" newspaper on your nails.

Step 1:
Apply base coat to protect your nails from yellowing. Paint your base polish. I chose a color closest to a newspaper. Polished used: Essie Playa Del Platinum.
Before you proceed, keep in mind that the base polish SHOULD BE completely dry before you start preparing the things needed to create this art!
Newspaper
Since we're all about beauty here, I got an old page of Fashion & Beauty from The Philippine Star. Not that it makes a difference as you won't be able to read the words anyway upon transfer! But it's the thought that counts! :)
Cut them into rectangular shape like the ones below.
I randomly cut fonts with regular letter and bold ones.
Fill a small dish with rubbing alcohol
Step 2:
Once your base polish is dry, dip each finger into the alcohol for approximately 5-10 seconds.
Step 3:
Take a piece of pre-cut newspaper and quickly stick it on your nail, apply with pressure and try not to move the tiny piece of newspaper. Press the center, then firmly press the sides for at least 10 seconds.
Step 4:
Gently peel the newspaper and the ink will be transferred onto your nails. Step 5:
Immediately apply a top coat to prevent the ink from smudging. If you do not have top coat, you can use a clear polish!
Tip:
If some of the ink gets transferred to the sides of the fingers, feel free to clean it with a cotton bud with polish remover.
Voila! Don't I look smart with this art? :P
I plan to do another version with Chinese Newspaper!!! :)
Come on, you would at least want to try this right?
If you cave in and decided to do this art, I'd love to see a shot of the final look!
Keep smilin'
Stay happy!
will definitely try this.!!! Thank you so much for this nail tutorial.!!! <3

ReplyDeletenice! ang dali lang pala niyan, hihihi...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou can try it with comics! It'll be colorful and cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI tried this once but it came out so messy! So you mean I have to put the topcoat IMMEDIATELY after removing the newspaper to prevent it from smudging? I tried putting a topcoat after a few minutes when I first tried it and it smudged :(
ReplyDeleteI tried this a couple of months ago and it turned out quite messy for me. The print didn't stick so well--although I didn't use newsprint. I printed my favorite lyrics on a paper and used that :3.
ReplyDeletethat's creative and nice design! by the way, is there any other alternative for the rubbing alcohol?
ReplyDeleteThis is just too cool for school! Really Nice.

ReplyDelete@Issa When I do simple nail art design, naaalala kita coz you told me you like the simpler ones :D
ReplyDelete@Ishee True! I have thought of that with plain white background :)
ReplyDelete@Kari Maybe if it messes up, try to put the topcoat several minutes more after you do this! Maybe your base is still wet? Make sure your base is COMPLETELY DRY! :)
ReplyDelete@thebooksandlooks Maybe the ink you printed out is still too wet so it has a tendency to get really messy? Keep trying girl :)
ReplyDelete@Trinie Beh Vodka! or Water, if you're lucky this may work with just plain distilled water :D
ReplyDelete@salmoncat Agree I even wanted to put a spring on the left side to look like "notebook" but I thought just to leave it simple as that :)
ReplyDelete@Marge Classy yet Edgy..I like that :D
ReplyDelete@jezzhae Goodluck and enjoy the process "D
