Weekend Food Trip at: Mel's Diner and Denny's

Hi AMW friends!
Finally, food post for our US trip!  In San Francisco, we were so tired and probably jet-lagged especially on our first 3 days so the Food Coma I was expecting didn't happen as we literally have a messed up schedule on eating and sleeping!

As tired and sleepy as we are, we need to eat and we did managed to get into 2 diners that is quite famous in the city!  Mel's Diner and Denny's!  Both diners' closing time is late!  Perfect for very late night customers like the AMW family!

Mel's Diner

Once you get in Mel's diner, you definitely get the "diner" feel you see in most American Movies.  In my mind, I thought of milk shakes, fries and a whole-lotta dancing!

My chocolate milkshake!  Tastes really good!

Reuben Sandwich
Said to be the best corned beef sandwich in town!  Served in sauerkraut, 1000 island and monterey jack.

Slider Trio
Since I can't decide which burger to try, the Slider Trio is perfect as I get to try Shortribs Slider, Grass Fed Beef Slider and Goat Cheese Turkey Slider in one sitting.  My favorite is the Grass Fed Beef Slider!

There's a photo of Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri

So far, I'm happy with the food and service at Mel's Diner near out hotel at St. Regis.  Sauerkraut maybe something we need to get used to but we're happy with the serving size as everything is share-able here! :D

Next comes Denny's!  We heard Denny's is another place to visit when you're craving for comfort food American style!  Okay, not everyone will agree on this but that's what I heard so I must give this restaurant a try!

Country fried Steak (Chicken meat)
This was highly recommended by the "Pinoy" server.  Thanks to him we got to try golden-fried chicken steak in rich country gravy sauce.  This  meal is served with your choice of 2 sides and we picked Mac & Cheese and Mashed Potatoes!

At night, after a day with Benefit, we've decided to go for Denny's restaurant again as it was almost 12mn when we've decided we wanted to binge!  *laughs*

French Toast Slam
Included are 2 thick slices of French Toast with 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips and 2 sausage links.  I was also craving for pancakes that night so mine was the pancake at the background of the photo! :) We were more impressed with our first order (above)!  We're probably biased over chicken but seriously, Country Fried Steak slams French Toast Slam anytime of the day!

What's your favorite "diner" here in the US?
Any other suggestions on restaurants or menu?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!
