Weekend Food Trip at: Lucky Rainbow Restaurant, Ongpin

So, let's put AMW Cooks to rest for today and let's bring back the Weekend Food Trip in a restaurant!

The week was crazy!  Aside from no yaya, which is supposed to be okay, Kyle got really sick and he has full blown cough and cold!  So after making sure he's asleep, I'm finally back to share what we had last week!  It was my dad-in-law's birthday so we've decided to celebrate at Lucky Rainbow!  As you probably heard, Lucky Rainbow first branch is at Downtown Ongpin, then they ventured out to Makati and Banawe area.  The first time we dined there, I wasn't that impressed and I'm glad I gave this restaurant a second try.  This time, it is WAY better and definitely worth to go back again!  P.S. I have my list of dishes to order again!!!

If you are a fan of Tim Ho Wan's pork bun and you just don't have the time and energy to line up at SM Megamall, Lucky Rainbow's Special Egg Yolk Pao may be a good alternative.  I'm not saying this is a dupe but it is something you can taste and you'll definitely forget other pork buns for the moment..in my case, I forgot my name!  Even Kyle LOVES this!

P.S. this is only available at Banawe and Makati branch, since Keith's uncle work there, we get this as special order!

Lucky Rainbow Special Egg Yolk Pao
3pcs for Php88.00

Xiao Long Bao
4pcs for Php98.00
Another must-try!  I find this Xiao Long Bao is comparable to Crystal Jade's and I love how the "soup" was intact upon serve!

Beef Ball Noodle Soup
Php148.00
For baby AMW!  This soup is healthy, you don't taste the usual MSG or chicken/pork/beef cubes!  This isn't my favorite though as my favorite still goes to Lam Tin's Beef Brisket Noodle Soup!  You have to try it!

Soy Chicken
Php800.00
I find their chicken are priced a bit too high for my liking, at least, they taste good and the chicken was cooked really flavorful and tender!  Most of the time, I would love to add soy sauce just to perk up the taste, for Lucky Rainbow's version, this is enough for me with a good hot cup of rice!

White Chicken
Php800.00
Sorry but I find other dishes more enticing I gave this a skip! :D

Birthday Noodles
Php220.00
The BEST birthday noodles I tried to date! I find most birthday noodles very "normal" in taste, I mean you go to any Chinese restaurant, they taste almost the same!  For Lucky Rainbow, I was literally on air at first bite!  I literally put this on my "to buy again" mental list!  The noodle they use are a bit different, a bit thinner thus each mouthful gives a full-on saucy experience!  I can't explain the taste but YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS, even if it's not your birthday!

Seafood Salad
Sorry can't find this in the menu and I usually give Shrimps a shrug off because I'm allergic to them!  BUT OF COURSE, on that night, I chose to listen to my stomach and it says "GO" and I'm glad I did!  It was just 1 bite but a biteful of heaven!  Very crunchy on the exterior, the shrimp is very fresh on the inside!  Each bite gives a burst of flavor!

Yang Chow Fried Rice
Php210.00
The first Yang Chow Fried Rice I tried from Lucky Rainbow was an ultimate disappointment and I'm glad this time, they redeemed themselves!  I believe that a good Chinese restaurant can be called a good one if they can make good Fried Rice!  Thank you they passed this time!

Seafood with Beancurd in Pot
Php320.00
Another nice dish to try when you love seafood and beancurd!

Fried Spareribs with Salt and Pepper
Php240.00
This earned a thumbs up sign from the king of Spareribs with salt and pepper (Mr. AMW!)  I agree with him, this is very soft and tender on every bite and you don't get just bones but meat!  The added green bell pepper taste and spicy flavor makes every bite enjoyable!

Braised Beancurd with Black Mushroom
Php260.00
I love beancurd and I love mushrooms!  Added with my favorite veggies in the world...it is a wonderful, healthy dish!

Click menu to enlarge if you want to check out their other offerings!

Overall, I really enjoyed every dishes I tried!  I will definitely go back and order some of my favorites!
Have you tried Lucky Rainbow?  Which branch and which particular dish do you like the most?
