The Body Shop Drops Of Light™ Pure Healthy Brightening Serum Review

When the 30ml worth of The Body Shop Drops Of Light™ Pure Healthy Brightening Serum was dropped on my table last month, I knew I needed something to "brighten" my skin after I finished up my Shiseido Ultimune Serum!  The Body Shop skincare products are mostly okay for me so I actually skipped doing skin patch test and went on and tested the product that same night!

Then after seeing how I actually love the product, I went ahead and did a bit of research for you.  According to The Body Shop website

The Body Shop Drops Of Light™ Pure Healthy Brightening Serum ---
Replenish and illuminate skin with this lightweight, fast‑absorbing, non‑sticky serum. It glides effortlessly to deliver efficient brightening whilst leaving skin feeling instantly supple and hydrated..After 4 weeks skin imperfections and yellowness are reduced, pores look minimised and skin looks brighter and more translucent.

Housed in a tiny bottle with "dropper", this is in a simple matte white bottle that I actually LOVE seeing on top of my dresser!  After testing the product out for more than 2 weeks now, I knew I had to write about my initial thoughts because I am quite impressed with its performance.

What I would do is that, I apply at least 2 drops of the Brigthening Serum and gently pat all over my face massaging my skin until the product gets absorbed completely.  And if I may have to add, surprisingly, I do not need that much of a time because my skin quickly drank up the serum in almost NO time!  It was amazing how it doesn't feel greasy, oily or sticky on skin.

I actually felt good applying this product even for the first time.  My skin doesn't need much "getting to used to" stage because it just absorbs everything!  Now, if you ask me, the best way to apply this serum is by warming the product on both of your clean hands and gently pat on skin massaging it until you don't feel ANY traces of the product on the exterior.

If you look closely on the ingredients list, one of the key ingredient for this range is the presence of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid).  And as you all know, Vitamin C is known to give positive effects in terms of skin brightening and lightening over time.

Thankfully, this range is geared towards ALL Skin Types and works even for the most sensitive skin users!

There wasn't much difference but I see the difference on the cheek area, on how my skin looks less sallow and brighter than usual.

Now, after seeing the result on how the serum works for me in terms of evening out my skin tone, giving my skin that smooth-feel and brighter-effect, I can't wait to try the other product from this range called...

The Body Shop Oils  Of Light™ Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream
For Face, Neck and Decollete
Php1,795.00

This works as a night cream, meaning, this is meant to be applied before you go to bed thus the product will definitely feel thicker and more potent.  I am still taking my time in using this because my son co-sleeps with me and I am still wary of using heavy creams at night!  Will definitely update this post if I finally tried this!  If you are already a user, feel free to share to us your thoughts!

  1. My eyes were dancing (if such thing happen) reading that the serum is meant to reduce the yellowness of the skin as well as reduce pores. I want to buy Estee's pore minimizing serum though I'm quite broke right now so I'm searching for an alternative.

  2. The packaging looks really chic. It's nice that this serum worked on your skin. I still have to find a serum that works for me as most of them break me out.

    1. Yes, it does, and most serums are nice addition to your current regimen :D

  3. I was scared of trying this serum out too because I had a bad experience with the Estee Lauder Night Repair serum/oil (broke me out like MOFO). But this serum really hydrates and refines the skin! And I have combination-sensitive skin so this might work well for you too. :)

  7. I just bought Kiehl's corrective dark spot solution (serum) and there were a lot of negative reviews about it but still I wanted to RISK it. I bought it yesterday and I'm currently looking for another serum that could diminish/lighten my dark spots. I have oily skin so 2 serums at night seems a big no no right? But is the drop of light, light enough that it wouldn't coz more zits to pop out? TIA!

    1. I k ow the question was not meant for me, but I wouldnt encourage you to try 2 brightening serum or even 2 new products at once. Give it two weeks first trying thefirst serum just to see your skin's compatability. If you use alot of newproduct at once and it triggered sensitivity and makes you break out, it will be a hassle to figure out which product is guilty. And brightening product are one of the most i famous products and triggering skin's sensitivity as well (this is also from my experience). This isbecause for brightening to really take place on the skin, some skin peeling has to occur to rid the outer surface of the skin.

Gd luck with figuring what products work for you ;)

  8. Btw, from the pictures I cant quite tell if you suffer from hyperpigmentation because I was wondering if The body shop drops of light could help with stubborn hyperpigmentation?

And now assuming youve worn it for more than 2 weeks I want to wknow an updated opinion of the product?

    1. I don't have hyperpigmentation so I can't tell how this product will work on that department.
I can vouch on having brighter looking and hydrated skin though
