AMW Saves: Maybelline FashionBrow + Brow Precise

You know how much of a brow lover I am because I use at least 2-3 brow products a day!  That's why I fully  understood why companies like Benefit, Make Up For Ever and now, drugstore giant brand Maybelline came up with their own version of a complete brow range!

If you've seen my most recent post on how to use the 3 newest brow products I owned from Make Up For Ever, well, that technically is the "Splurge" post and I'm not continuing the post with a "Save" portion.

I didn't create a "versus" post like other because both set of products aren't exactly the same plus the shades I got are completely different so it is difficult to do a side by side comparison because if you ask me now --- ONE BRAND WON without a doubt due to shade match (hint: the splurge brand).

But that doesn't stop me from sharing how I use the 3 Maybelline brow products even if the shade matching is a bit off, so please don't rant about how "off" the color of my brows are, let's focus on the technique instead on how I would use all 3 products called ----

Maybelline Fashion Brow Precise Shaping Pencil
Maybelline FashionBrow Pomade Crayon
and
Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara

Here are the swatches and the shade names that I got to try and test.

Maybelline Fashion Brow Precise Shaping Pencil
In Natural Brown
This brow pencil is similar to that of the Make Up For Ever Pencil because of the way the pencil looks!  A thicker "brow pencil" side which is best to fill in sparse areas of your brows.

As to how to use, it is quite easy, use it like how you would on most brow pencils but better brush off your hair with the spoolie before you fill in your brows using the "thicker portion" of the pencil.

Before and After
The shade is a bit off for my extremely dark brows but hey, I always follow up with a brow mascara to "tint" my brows.

Maybelline FashionBrow Pomade Crayon
Shade: BR-4
This definitely looks like that of a lip crayon!  Comes in a "twistable" tube, I like how I don't need to sharpen this product separately.

This actually "sets" the brows like how a hair pomade would do for a man's hair!  I like how it doesn't create sticky-feel.  Instead, it fill sin the rest of the brows that wasn't done by the pencil tinting my dark brows a bit for a more completed look.

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara
Shade: Soft Brown
Comes in a "flat" iron-like brush which I find unique yet a bit challenging to use at first.  It tends to dispense a lot of the "brow mascara" straight to your brows because of the applicator so a separately spoolie will always be needed if you use this product.

This wand gets really close to the brows (even the skin!)  So be extra careful in application because this is highly pigmented and can tint even the darkest brows.

Before and After
It does help tint my brows but I find there are still dark areas in some areas of my brows!  It doesn't tint my brows completely and evenly.  I guess, a lot of practice will be needed and a lot of application until the product coasts all brow hairs completely.

As you can see, Maybelline definitely can compare to higher ended brands in terms of the brow pencils and pomade crayon!  Same as before, I guess, they have to improve the shade choices of their Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara because I always find their natural shades to be spot on while the lighter shades tend to appear unnatural.  I may try to make this work by adding on eyebrow powder to set everything in place and not make my brows appear too golden brown.

Overall, I find all 3 products to be worth to try because of the inexpensive price range but you have to be careful in picking the right shade because it will make or break your overall look.

Definitely a brand worth checking out and a brand worth investing on if you are just starting out and wanted to do a lot of practice sessions!

Have you tried any of the Maybelline brow product/s?

  1. I love Maybelline mascaras and lipsticks but I'm not a fan of their brow products...I always find their brow product hard to blend on my brow hair.
