Popsicle-feel On My Lips

Even before I attended the Holiday Collection and Christmas party or AGC (the company who distributes Etude House locally), I already visited my favorite Etude House store at Lucky Chinatown Mall and grabbed a couple of these Etude House Dear Darling Water Tints just because they look so cute!

I actually ended up buying 2 sets each shade (1 for review and 1 for gifting) because they are extremely affordable (Php200+ a pop) and packaged really prettily so I an easily get away making my teenager recipients happy and my wallet happy too!  (Gosh!  I hope they are not reading this post!  But it's the thought that counts guys!)

I easily picked randomly 4 shades because they look cute on packaging!  Housed in a popsicle-like packaging, the similarities between these Dear Darling Water Tints and a real-life popsicle does not end there!

Dear Darling Tint Cute Packging
Php298.00
They look like gifts even without wrapper!
I am actually planning to hunt on the rest of the shades and complete them just because they look soooooo adorable!

These Dear Darling Water Gel are said to be water-based lip tints and are housed in a plastic packaging shaped like a popsicle stick!  Even the applicator looks like a popsicle stick!

The size is almost that of a nail polish and very handy and easy to tote along!  You can easily see the color of the tint in the transparent plastic bottle.

Let's talk about the applicator, all you have to do is twist the "popsicle handle" and you find a flexible doe-foot applicator that is actually very easy to use!  I love the shape and I love how soft it is!  The applicator grabs the right amount of product every time so you get an even application.

Swatches:
The consistency is light-gel almost watery bordering jelly.  It has a bit of cooling sensation upon application.  The tint glides easily on lips and some are more pigmented than the others!  If you are aiming for super pigmented tints, these won't make it to the cut and if you are into matte lip products, again, this is NOT for you.

(Note: sorry the last shade is Jewel Red not Jewelry Red)

AMW wears Peach Red
A tricky color to describe as the name has "red" but I can't seem to see a red to the shade but mostly pink.  I would describe this color to be a teenager neon pink shade that brightens up the face if you have medium to darker complexion but does not appear as much if you have fair skin!

It does give a youthful, natural-looking appearance so I like piling this on top of a matte lipstick to create a more natural vibe.

AMW wears Watermelon Red
If you want to see the color of Watermelon fruit on your lips, this is the exact color for you!  One of the brightest amond the 4 I own.  This is also a perfect red to start with if you are still scared to wear something really loud!  This is fun, wearable and stains the lips in a nice healthy-red way!

AMW wears Red Bean Red
The first shade that I picked even without swatching just because I can see a bit of "mauve".  You all know how Mauve shade can brighten up a blah looking skin of mind.  This is a nice MLBB shade for those who have medium to dark pigmented lips.

AMW wears Jewel Red
If you are looking for the old school lipgloss that makes your lips appear plumper and fuller with hint of shimmers, Jewel Red is something you may look into.  As much as I'm scared to apply anything with glitters on my lips as I already have full lips, I actually liked how my lips look smoother and softer amidst the extreme dryness.  This is best used on top of something as it is almost transparent!

I may not have used these products for more than a week but I can honestly give my thoughts on these because hey, a lip gloss is a lip gloss and what more can I say but the feel, texture and packaging?

Now, after all the photos and blabbing, I am finally ready to share my thoughts on how I feel about these cutesy packaged tints!

  • Texture is very lightweight and comfortable to wear.
  • The product leaves a very light "sticky" feel, imagine you brush a real popsicle ice cream on your lips and there is a tiny sticky feel?  It is the same with the Dear Darling Water Tints!
  • Extremely watery in texture upon application but it dries off quickly after a minute or 2 leaving just the "pigment" on your lips.
  • That said, if you have dry lips your lips may feel tight midday.
  • If you have normal lips, these are okay to use even without lip balm.
  • If you have dry lips, apply transparent lip balm to keep lips hydrated as these could be drying.
  • Does not create flaky lips and lip lines aren't enhanced, it is just the drying feel.
  • The shades are mildly pigmented so you don't get vavavoom shades these are all natural-looking tints for those who want to stay away from those dark and matte lips!
  • Stays for 2 hours max and reapplication is needed.
