Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm Review

You've probably seen a couple of blog reviews on the new lip product hot off the press from Revlon!  I am really excited with this because according to Allure Magazine USA, this product is "The Best Long-Wearing Lip Stains That won't leave you high and dry at your next cocktail party.  Two hours strong!"

After more than 2 weeks of constant usage, I've finally came up with a review base solely on my personal experiences as I cannot use this on anybody for hygiene purposes!

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm says ---
Product Benefits
  • Double ended lipstain and balm all in 1 convenient package
  • Marker applicator provides precise application
  • Translucent stick balm provides instant moisture and soft shine
  • Beautiful wash of "just bitten" lip color
  • Lightweight Feel
Lipstain
  • Vitamin enriched formula with Vitamin C for anti-oxidant protection
  • Color does not smudge or streak in 10 lightweight shades
Balm
  • Contains Vitamin C for protecting skin
  • Creamy, lightweight balm perfectly melts on the lips for smooth glide-on application
  • Translucent balm provides instant moisture and soft shine

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Super gorgeous packaging, the color of the package is the shade of the lipstain.
  • Well sealed for freshness.
  • Dual ended which makes it easy to tote along, saves space!
  • The shades I got are quite pigmented and some can be compared to OCC Lip Tar (comparing only the pigmentation not the moisturizing part and shine)
  • The longest lasting lipcolor I currently own!  Lasts more than 2 hours!
  • Does not transfer much on cup or mug as compared to lipstick or gloss.
  • The color does not bleed nor feather.
  • Non-sticky
  • Due to it's "marker tip", can do precise application especially on dark colored stains!
  • I'd love it if each bridal client own one as this is long lasting
Cons
  • Balm may break if you're not careful with the cap
  • If you have dry lips (like myself), the lipstain itself once applied has a very dry feel.  This can be remedied with the use of lip balm!
  • Can enhance lines if you don't moisturize well after lip stain application.
  • There is one shade that the stain is a bit difficult to come out, Passion, probably just this one?
  • Can stain on clothing or things around if you are not careful.
  • Not for sharing as this is meant to be applied directly from the marker tip!
Overall
Marker on lips --- Literally! It takes a bit of time to get used to this product.  At initial usage, I felt a bit of tingly sensation, but after several usage, it went ok.  Out of the 3 shades I got, my favorite for regular days is Flame, on a bolder look, Crave is seriously a unique and gorgeous shade!

Tips

from Revlon
  • Apply marker directly to clean, dry lips
  • Build color and coverage as desired
  • After 30 seconds, add extra shine and moisture by applying the balm
from AMW
  • If you find the shade to be overwhelming, apply with light hand.
  • Smiling without teeth then draw the lip stain all over the lips is easier!
  • Start by applying the outline of your lips first before you start filling the insides.
  • I prefer using this as base and you can do the same.  I apply the lip stain first, let dry, then apply a similar shade of lipstick then top with lip balm.  I still have a nice lip color even if the lipstick fades away.
  • Getting tired of your current lipstick?  I apply Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain (let's say in color pink) then top with a different shade of lipstick which produces a totally different shade!
  • Dry lips?  Prep your lips the night before you use this product, brush off with a damp toothbrush to remove excess skin around the lips.
  • For easy removal, use a light baby oil and gently wipe the product off and wash your lips well.  You can also opt for an Eye and Lip makeup remover.  (ex. Maybelline, L'Oreal)
  • Use soft cloth or cotton in gently wiping your lips!  Be careful not to rub too hard and make your lips drier.
  • Be careful not to shake the product while cap is still open!  This will happen to you! (Tried wiping the product off right away, looks like shooting stars!) *laughs*

Will I repurchase?
Other shades, yes!

To Whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who's into long lasting lip stain and lips are not too dry!  I think this one is also perfect for people who loves to party and has minimal "mirror" time

Where to purchase and how much?
At Revlon Counters for Php595.00 (approx $14.00) each.

Swatch on hand without lip balm

Applied lip balm on top

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Passion
Top: Applied alone, Bottom: Applied with Lip Balm

Passion is supposed to be baby pink in color base on swatch, but my lips originally are quite pigmented so it does not come out as baby pink as I want.  You can choose to cover the pigmentation of your lips with concealer or lip erase.

**I apologize for the patches, as written on "Con" above, Passion lip marker is not working properly that's why I can't cover the whole part of my lips.  Passion is also the reason why I shake it so hard while uncapped thus messing up my legs!  *lol*

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Flame
Top: Applied alone, Bottom: Applied with Lip Balm
As the name says it all, Flame =  Fire!  Orange shade that looks quite natural on my lip color.  This is the daily lip stain I've been reaching out and I love topping my favorite lipstick on top of this shade as it works on a lot of lipstick color!

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Crave
Top: Applied alone, Bottom: Applied with Lip Balm
This is the darkest out of the 3 that I got.  It's more on the deep burgundy red color that looks scary at first but works really great in brightening up the overall look even without eye makeup!

Have you tried Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain + Balm?
Do you like it?  Or do you think there are other better alternatives out there?

Keep smilin'

  1. I haven't tried the Revlon lip stain, but I have tried the Benefit's Lip stain. You can use it both on your cheek and lip as well. I believe its called Bene-tint. It comes in 2 colors which is the red color and also in poppy-pink.

  2. thanks for the tip on how to remove it! In my case, the Flame shade emphasized my chapped lips compared to the other shades... Posted my review on my blog.

  4. i can't help but wonder, if the cap is loose and come off in the bag, will the marker stain the whole bag? that will be a horror!

  7. Xin, so far, no, the cap has this "click" sound, but just to be safe, I put them in a makeup pouch that's made of "plastic" so accidents occur, it won't get into my bag :)

Ivy_league05, thanks for sharing about Benetint ! :) I can't compare them for now, we don't have Benefit cosmetics locally :)

  9. yeh i heard tao (taosmakeup-iamgrape1119) really liked the lip balm and really liked the stain. it certainly is a must find out. my lips dry out easily even with the revlon beyond natural lip balm/sticks with spf they have so i'm kinda iffy with this one.
but the tao says the balm end on this new prod of their's is to die for, LOL.
    thanks for sharing.
