Askmewhats Reviews: Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll On

Seldom can we find eye cream or eye products that are affordable. A lot of people skip the step to take care of the eye area because it is such a small area to take care of and most of the eye creams are expensive! They would think using a moisturizer all over the face including the eye area is enough.

WRONG!

The eye area is more sensitive than the face, and the skin around the eye is thinner which makes it easier to be "battered". I think I am the perfect person to try on eye products because I have all the problems around the eye area, naming ---

  • Dark Undereye circles
  • Puffiness
  • Fine Lines

When given the chance to try on a new "eye" product, I'll jump to the chance! :) As I said, I set aside my Clinique's All About Eyes cream and tested this product for almost 3 weeks!

Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll On says ---

Massage that fatigue eyes away with this innovative solution. The roll-on is enriched with caffeine, which helps to reduce the appearance of eye bags and dark eye circles. Our eye area is the thinnest skin on our face, so never ignore those signs showing up around your eyes. Signs of fatigue include:

- Eye bags
- Dark eye circles
- Puffy eyes

Garnier Light's Brightening Eye Roll-On is proven with the power of plants and revolutionary technology.

It is dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested. Effectiveness can be seen:

- Immediate cooling effect to freshen up fatigue eye area

- In 14 days, skin is much brighter and radiant

- In 28 days, eye bags and dark circles reduced by 11-12% respectively.*

*Evaluation on 50 women with dark circles and eye bags, all skin types.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • affordable
  • fragrance-free
  • Dermatologically and Opthalmologically tested!
  • has a tightening effect
  • cooling effect is perfect to relax the skin around the eye area
  • does not sting the eye
  • fits the palm perfectly, great for travel!

  • packaging is wonderful, simple yet wonderful to use, no spillage and the roll on makes application a breeze. The roll on doesn't get stuck at all like normal roll-on deodorant!

Cons
  • no instructions on box, have to do research online
  • don't know how long to do the rolling, it's addicting you know!
  • if you are allergic to caffeine (who knows there could be some out there), do not use this product, same with MAC Charged Water, also contains Caffeine!
DID YOU KNOW THAT?
Caffeine is also well-known for its stimulating properties on micro-circulation. Can energize the skin!

Overall

Do not expect miracles from this product! (there's no such thing unless you undergo an operation). I find Garnier Light Brightening eye roll on is wonderful because it is so easy to apply and it does relaxes the eye. Darkness around the eyes didn't subside but puffiness definitely did! I do feel a tightening effect after application and again, stay true to your regimen! Do not use this once or twice and expect huge results!

But! If you want instant relief from tiredness, this is a wonderful product to use! Instant cooling effect!

Will I repurchase?

Yes

Tips

  • no need to put this inside the fridge as the product itself has cooling effect.
  • STOP using the product if your skin reacts, never think the product gets wasted, but THINK of the bills you have to pay in the long run!
  • always check the ingredients! There could be some ingredients that you are allergic to!
DID YOU KNOW THAT?
I am allergic to steroids, sad to say, most anti-allergy eye drops that are available in the market contain this ingredient.

Guide to application for best result:
(from this website, thank you Traclyn)

Step One: Using circular motions, apply roll-on beginning from the inner corner of the eye area. Continue over upper eyelid in one stroke.

Step Two: Repeat step one in reverse - Stroke over upper eyelid and circular motions for under eye area. Finish at inner corner.

Step Three: Using ring finger (or which ever finger you're comfortable with), gently tap around eye area, ending at the under eye's inner corner.

Where can you purchase and how much?

At Watson's or any beauty stores for Php299.00 (approx $6.50)

Here's a close-up shot of the Roll On
Doesn't hurt the eye if you did it right! :)
Do not press hard ok?

And here's how the liquid looks like
More on the liquid-y side
Has a tiny bit of brightening effect
(very minimal)

To some of you who'd love to try this product!
I'd say go ahead!

I had a wonderful experience using this! :)
Let me know how you like it!
Stay happy!

i bought that garnier eye roll thing and i haven't used it enough to see if it has really made a difference, but i do agree about the cooling sensation it gives when you apply it =)

  4. thanks for the review Nikki! :)

i dunno if i should try this after i finish up my "clinique moisture surge extra refreshing eye gel" (long name :p) or should i go through another tube before switching? *so confused*

haha. i love the mine as i dun have to dip my fingers in the product and it's oil-free! hahas. i'm obsessed with "oil-free" product as I'm suppa oily :(

  5. Hey Nikki! Just as I was on the lookout for a good undereye product, POOF! your review comes in the nick of time!

Thanks for this. I must admit. I've been neglecting the skin under my eyes....tsk...tsk...bad I know! That roll-on feature is one-of-a-kind. :)

  6. Hi Nikki!

I use this in addition to my eye cream. I use it at night before bed, and in the morning when I wake up.

I find that this is really good for eye bags, but not for circles.

    I also reviewed this here:
    http://makeupforprofessionalasianwomen.blogspot.com/2009/02/test-drive-garnier-caffiene-roll-on-for.html

where you can see it in action on my naked face...it reduced my bags by about 50% which is not bad at all!

  10. Jo, I have a feeling there's some changes on the undereye but maybe..it's so minute you wouldn't even notice, most eye products are like that!

Toma, I know a lot of people are waiting for this review! I'm glad I've finally done this! :D

Renren, I rolled like crazy the first time I got it, good thing I did some research and finally know how to use it :)

  11. miRacle, recently, after the review, I am using this first, then the clinique one! It doesn't matter, it works ok :)

Lootwagon, me too! That's why when I saw puffiness, darkness and lines, I told myself I have to take care of it! So far, I did and it's working! My bro who works abroad came back recently and told me the puffiness around my eyes reduced a bit! :D YAY!

    Jamilla Camel, thanks for sharing

  12. Paula, I know! I'm "deadma" about it for awhile, I'm glad I had the chance to try this!

Yumyumsushi, interesting enough for you to want to try it? Or are you sticking to your eye regimen? What are you using at the moment?

Fuz, you're welcome dear! I know your HG eye cream, so I'm not going to say anything! LOL

  14. It's so cute! I love the rollerball. I was thinking that might be a good idea because the metal rollerball might be cool and soothing to the eyes. :)

  15. Love the extra "DID YOU KNOW THAT?" that you are posting :)
So much more personal with the extra info with the reviews :)
I saw this at the checkout today (I'm assuming they only have one that looks like this~)

  17. Shadoes of U, yes, it really soothes the eye :)

Rasilla, hahaha I'm glad you liked it! It's nice to let people know something about you :D I believe if you saw it in this color! This is the one as I've never seen any other products for the eye that's roll-on and the package color is apple green! :D

Iyah, yes, me too!!! I'm starting to get fine lines..so I have to start getting serious taking care of it! :D

    ReplyDelete
  18. thanks for the review, nikki. *sighs* I'm looking for something that'd lighten dark circles :( I guess I won't be getting this one then

    ReplyDelete
  19. Connie, I guess to lighten the dark circles, we have to use them longer! I find that my dark circles got lighter approximately after 6 months of using an anti-undereye circles cream :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I did a video and posting about this plus the application. The application pictures look really familiar.

I use it for more than a month now. I can't really see a big difference yet but I recommend this for tired and puffy eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Traclyn Yeoh, I see, it's nice to read your comments and your experience too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. haha, what I'm trying to say is I think you link the application picture it's from me because I'm a Xanga user and I took the pictures myself :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Traclyn, super thanks for letting me know and I am sorry! I knew I got it from a site but I forgot where! I already linked it to your site, or if you want me to remove it, I would understand! thanks for letting me know! and sorry about that! :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh I didn't mean to be wanting you to remove it because I enjoy reading your blog too. Just that if you did acknowledge it, I felt much more appreciated. Thanks for linking it to my site :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks for being a sweetie Traclyn :) I honestly forgot where I got it! :) thanks for letting me know, I have no problems linking to whoever is the owner of the site and I would never try to own it :D I just put "from a website" which isn't a great way to acknowledge you eh? LOL :) I'll see you around :D

  26. Hi Korun, you just apply this on your eye area...so no pimples so far..not unless you have allergies to certain ingredients

    ReplyDelete
  27. ow. thank you so much!! :)

anyways, should i apply it after my daily routine?
and how many times or should i say, when are the times to put it? :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. You're welcome. You apply it morning and night time, you just roll it on your eye area and massage it gently with your fingers. it really depends on you. I applied this every morning after my facial routine, then night time before I go to sleep!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks again.
I just have one more question, but this is out of the topic, hehe.

What's the best oil-free moisturizer out there? :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am a Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Skin relief user! I love it!

  32. Hi Anonymous, I've used this after 3 weeks and seen some slight changes . My mother in law is using this for a month and she's seen difference after a month. It really depends on how your body reacts!

  35. i have not found the product so effective ,i have very recently brought it ,i find the dark circles to be increasing may be my skin is not suited to this product , but when it comes to cooling effect i dont think u should pay rs/-200 to get ur eyes cool for 15 secods, any way make a proper decision before buying ,dont be in a hurrry and get it like me

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous, you are welcome

Another Anonymous! Hi! Thanks for the comment, you are right, some people find this product very useful while some reacts negatively to this, thanks for the tip! I do think twice or even 5x before purchasing anything especially if it's pricey! :) I am sorry it increased your dark circles, you could be allergic to one of the ingredients of this!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hiyee!

I'm going to try this product. Wish me luck! Thanks for the review!

    ReplyDelete
  38. i've been using this for some time now, and i just don't think it's doing anything for me.

i don't have any eyebags, but i do have dark undereyes. and i feel like the lines are becoming more prominent huhu

what eye cream would u recommend for this?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Iya, how has it been after a month?

Mia, awww too bad this didn't work for you, I guess you're one of those who aren't matched to use these types of Caffeine based eye creams! Have you tried CLinique's? I've used Clinique's all about eyes. L'oreal eye creams are good too, maybe you are better off with the cream/gel based eye creams :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. nicely written. hmmnn.. is it true that using eye products can gve u wrinkles?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've used this for about a month now. Twice a day, in the morn and before sleep. I personally think it works. I have dark circles and they've decreased so far. Hope they go away entirely. But I guess with cosmetics its always tricky, either your skin likes it or it doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous, not really, it depends, its really on the way you "apply" the product, if you are too rough on your eye area, then it could probably cause more wrinkles!

Another anonymous, glad it works for you :) I have heard both raves and rants on this, But so far, I've given another one to my mom-in-law and she swore it works for her :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nice Review!tnx,it has given me further informations, but, I want to ask a question.

  48. hi nikki!! i jz read your review now.. i believe its true that a lot would coment "you slept late last nyt ayt?!" or "you look tired?!" when having puffy bags and dark circles.. and i have them. i feel bad cause when i smile, the bags are really big. i always get to feel intrested in buying this product in watson's but im afraid it would worsen my eye problem cuz im still young. im 16 by the way. am i really too young to use this product?? if yes, what other remedies should i use?? thanks for the review!! i love it!! ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi Anonymous, regarding your query on Aqua Defense and this one, sad to say we don't have the Aqua defense down here but base on the name, i guess the Aqua defense is on a moisturizing side. I'll let you know if I have more info!

Cooleygirl_Eunicey^^, I'm glad you found this brand to be working for you and it's not very expensive! Thanks for sharing!

Jay_bulalo, I actually emailedd them, got no answer yet, will let you know once I get answer from the company

    ReplyDelete
  51. imstillyoung, you're never too old or young to start the important thing is to test this on your wrist area for 24 hours just to make sure you're not allergic to this before you put it on your eye area :D

    ReplyDelete
  52. thank you so much nikki!! ill try this product.. thank you!! ^_^

  56. Hello there..I was searching for an eye cream wen I opened your site and found about this Garnier eye roll on..that same day I went to a nearest mall and purchased one to try.I agree about the cooling effect after applying this in my eyes and the puffiness were reduced..Been using this for one day and hoping to have more succesful effect in the long run.By the way before I buy this product I was also eyeing for this Body Shop Vitamin E Eye cream..but ended up with this one.I find ur site very helpful..

    ReplyDelete
  57. I've been using this product for 2 weeks now but sad to say, I haven't seen any results. A bit disappointing actually.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous, it depends, if you rub too much of course there won't be any cooling effect but warm, be careful when rolling.

Anonymous, thanks for the feedback, glad you're seeing some results.

Franiqueblack, it takes a bit longer time for some, keep on using it as long as you don't have allergic reactions to it...try to take photos of your eyes before and after as most of the time, the results are quite minimal :)

  59. Hi! I am always hesitant to buy products from Asia since many of them have skin whitening ingredients because as many might already know, these are the common causes of skin spots when exposed to the sun.

I don't really know how to identify the skin whitening ingredients so would you know if this product does have it or what the whitening ingredients are called so I can avoid them?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  60. hi there!! i heard bout it a lot but im scared to buy it. coz i hear a lot of people have problems with it. im scared that i would used up all of my money for ntg. i heard it could reduce puffiness and all..can it reduce dark circles as well? please reply i really need to know T-T

    ReplyDelete
  61. Minnie, to be honest, it worked for my mom in law and she has finished 3 tubes while I have friends who has seen no difference, the effect depends on each individual and you really have to try to know if it works for me (sad to say). as long as you don't have allergies to the ingredients, no harm in trying, if at the end does not work for you you can give it to your siblings oryour friends :D

    ReplyDelete
  62. can men use this? how many ml?
loreal hydra eye roll is too expensive.. i heard garnier cost aroung 199 now..

    ReplyDelete
  63. hi Nikki n thank you so much for this review

    ReplyDelete
  64. oh , do you know that for STEP THREE , i heard that using ring finger to tap is the best (compared to other fingers) , because the skin around the eye very thin and delicate , and using the ring finger would apply the least pressure to it , so it's the best . (:

well , i heard it somewhere , so just saying anyway . (:

& thanks for the review !!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I have been using this product for almost a year now. It is good for eye puffiness but not for dark circles. One roll-on lasts for 6 months or more. I use it in the morning and at night. Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  66. pwede po ba yang gamitin ng mga teenagers??

    ReplyDelete
  67. @xtremegc Yes men can use this but the reason why L'oreal came out with a "male" version of this because the skin of men are different as compared to women :) But give this a try since this is cheaper

    ReplyDelete
  68. @Anonymous Yes, agree on the Ring Finger thing, thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Anonymous Pwede, pero like any product, need to test first especially this one is near the eye area, may mga sensitive skin kasi so probably test the product at the back of the ear or the wrist area for allergy test :)

  76. Hi! This review is great. Just recently I bought a garnier eye roll on. But the one I bought was the Bb Eye roll on!~ I didn't realized that it was different from this light eye roll on, and besides that was the only eye roll on product that I saw on the store, so I thought that was this. Can u please tell me the major differences between the BB and this Light eye roll on?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The BB one is like a concealer and eye product in one, you get a bit of coverage and it gives a bright effect while the Light Eye Roll on is invisible, it goes well anytime of the day!

      Delete
  77. So, if I want to reduce my eyebags, I mean the puffiness under my eyes, is light eye roll on the preferred product for me? or the BB one will just do?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Use this, the BB one will do but that's best to used before you leave house as it also works as semi-makeup!

  78. I wonder how many years before it expires? have one of this my sister gave it to me a long time ago and i havent used it much. Im afraid it wont be effective anymore.. Pls tell me when. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can feel free to check manufacturing date, it can still be ok if it is within 2 yrs and it wasn't opened yet, but if it has been exposed (opened) and it has been more than 2 yrs, much better not to use it anymore. You're right it could not be as effective anymore.

  79. hi..please help me..
is it works for Dark circles at eyes?
please tell me best solution to remove dark circles..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sometimes, if your dark circles are genetic, then there is no way we can remove it! If its due to lack of sleep or external condition, then you may try to use products such as these but it may take a long time! Keep in mind that not all products work well on everyone! You really have to try and test them.
