How to: Easy Smokey Eyes

Happy Monday AMW friends!
Today, I am praying for a more energized Nikki and so far, seems like my energy is getting back bit by bit!  I'm taking things slow so don't worry about me! :)

To start off the week with a quick and simple "This Is How I Do It" post.  Smokey eyes!  The look could get daunting to a lot of us especially since we love to associate smokey=dirty!  Yes, the step could get your cheeks or under eye area dirty but it's not something you can easily wipe off!

Here's a super quick, simple and easy way to create smokey eye makeup using minimal products (with busy working girls in mind).

Eye shadow primer/base
Eye shadow primer or base is very important for smokey eye makeup specially if you're living in a tropical country like ours!  If you suffer from oily lids, you can choose to use both products.  A very dependable eyeshadow primer (my vote goes to Urban Decay Primer Potion) and pick any eye shadow base you have in your collection.  For a quick smokey eye look, I picked a grayish black eye shadow stick from Avon and applied all over the lids going a bit beyond the crease.  Use the same product to apply below the lash line.

Note: Don't worry if the application looks messy, you can fix it up later on.

Using your fingers or in my case, I prefer to use a crease blending brush, I gently blur out harsh lines created by the stick eye shadow with a light-hand motion.

Eye shadow
For an easier smokey eye makeup application, eye shadows that has glitters or shimmers are my best bet as I can get away by using just one shade and the effect won't be boring at all!

Side note: Matte eye shadow shades tend to look dirty if not applied correctly.

Using the same brush, I applied Estee Lauder's Pure Color in Black Crystals (metallic) all over the lids on top of the eye shadow base.  Wiping off excess eye shadow on the brush, I used the same brush to blend harsh lines.

Using the same eye shadow shade used above, I picked my G-lish slanted liner brush and applied the eye shadow below the lash line.

Step back and see if you're comfortable with the intensity of your smokey eye makeup look.  Once you're happy with the result, apply your choice of black liner, curl your lashes and apply loads of mascara!

For the rest of my face, I've decided to keep the rest of my face simple by adding up a matte blush from Benefit called Dalas.   I used Nivea Fruity Shine in Pink Guava for my lips to stay moisturized at the same time looks sweet with a hint of rose pink shade!

Of course, as soon as you mastered this quick and easy smokey eye makeup, feel free to play with different shades and have loads of fun!

What's your favorite smokey eye makeup shade?
I'd go for dark (moss) green as it goes so well on my skin!

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!
