Let's Talk About Make Up For Ever

I literally wailed when Make Up For Ever, Shangri-la Branch closed down.  I usually shop their for my favorite Concealer Palettes, Pencil Liners, Loose Pigments, Powder Foundation and Contouring powders.

After accepting the fact that they may be gone in the Philippine scene forever, I'm glad I was wrong!  They are definitely back this time, and with a vengeance! This year is Make Up For Ever's 30th Year!

I was invited to a very intimate launch at PINO restaurant.  I knew about Pino restaurant from another blogger friend Patty Laurel.

I knew it was going to be an "artsy" evening with Life After Breakfast's author, Ms. Alessa Lanot.  I may be artsy in both faces and nails but not on paper, so Tara, Mikki and I shared this "Ugh, not art please" moment!  Little did we know that night was a major stress reliever for all of us!

Alessa doing what she does best!  Check out her blog for inspirations!
I like to just browse through her blog to feel good!  :)

A usual 3-hour watercolor class was turned into a quick crash course but nevertheless, I learned so much in less than an hour!

And the "foodie" in me was munching away as I tried to get into my "artistic side". Seriously, an artist needs food!!!  And I highly recommend dining at Pino restaurant.  I heard so many raves about their dishes but it was a first for me to try their dishes and everything was worth ordering!  I even went ahead to order a "Sisig Carbonara" TO GO for Mr. AMW!

After the fun class, Ms. Lyra Prieto, Brand Manager of MUFE Philippines and Katrina Morales, Brand Executive shared to us why we had this special gathering.

As we all know, Make Up For Ever has always been an expert in color, when I studied makeup artistry, I invested on MUFE eye shadows especially on bright colors for our Avant Garde Makeup Class!  It wasn't hard to create vibrant colors using MUFE eye shadows!

And here's what I learned during the get together!  The brand's iconic product --- the eye shadows underwent some change!  I mean seriously, why would they even change something that's already great?

After 3 long years of hard work, Dany Sanz, Creator and Artistic Director of Make Up For Ever together with the rest of MUFE team, knew they had something better to offer.  They are finally bringing out an exceptional range of 210 new generation eye shadows in 5 finishes (matte, satiny, metallic, iridescent and diamond).  And the most wonderful news of the night?  ALL 210 shades are available in the Philippines!  HOORAY!

The new Artist Shadow ranges come in pots and are refillable!  You may choose between Duo or Trio which is perfect for travel while fellow professional Make Up Artists like me can choose metallic palettes as shown on photo above!  In 1 palette, you can fit in 28 eye shadow pans and some of them can double up as a blush, liner or eyebrow powder!  I love how they are space saving and as a makeup artist, you wouldn't want to lug so many bulky products when you are on the job!

The packaging may have changed but they are still housed in a round 2.5g pan bigger than most eyeshadow brands.

I got excited to know that the DUO container is as low as Php300.00+ and each eyeshadow pan costs around Php800.00+ as opposed to the Php1,000.00+ price range in the past!

Aside from the Artist Shadows, they are also launching 3 types of Black liners.
  • Artist Liner Php1,300.00
Ultra-soft pencil liner is creamy and stunningly silky texture that melts effortlessly onto the skin and yet, does not lose its intensity.  With just one swipe, you get PURE black liner that doesn't smudge.
  • Ink Liner Php1,500.00
Comes in applicator and bottle duo.  With flexible tip, you can easily create different line shapes and thicknesses.  The effect is matte black and the formulation is fast-drying with a promise of 12-hour hold.
  • Graphic Liner Php1,600
In my dictionary, this is the fairest of them all!  I find using this type of eyeliner is perfect for beginners, for girls who are unsure of their strokes but dreams of those seductive cat's eyes.  The black liner has a vinyl sheen making the effect flirty and dramatic.  This type of liner is easy to glide along the skin and you can also adjust the thickness without much effort.

And just when we thought our hearts can stop palpitating!  MUFE isn't done yet!  Check out their amazing range of 75 pieces Artisan Brushes that's also going to be available in the Philippines!  All 75 pieces!

What's unique with these brushes?  Look closely, they are 100% Engineered Fibers, 0% Natural Hair as Make Up For Ever wants to meet the global needs of a society concern with animal welfare!  These brushes feel like Natural Animal Hair but they are synthetic all the way!

With 75 pieces of unique brushes, Dany, as a painter I think covered them all!  Confused on which particular brush/es you need?  Focus on which part of your face you do your makeup more often.
  • Foundation brushes
  • Powder brushes
  • Concealer brushes
  • Blush brushes
  • Eyebrow brushes
  • Eyeliner brushes
  • Eyeshadow brushes
  • Lip brushes
  • Artistic brushes
Here's a shopping guide for you.  (click photo to enlarge)

All MUFE brushes are numbered (just like their eye shadows) so I highly recommend you read reviews, check out swatches online or just focus on what you need on a daily basis and don't forget to ask your SA for a quick makeover or maybe some tips on which particular brush, makeup products work for you!
