L'Oreal Mat Magique All-In-One Matte Transforming Powder Review

I got hold on the newest innovation from L'Oreal last December and I've been testing this powder ever since!  This is called L'Oreal Mat Magique, an All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder made available just this month!

Aside from that, I also got an invite to attend the launch day itself!

And the highlight of this event?  I get to have my hair and makeup done by L'Oreal professionals...

AND!  Have my photo taken by THE BJ Pascual!

Now, let me get back to reality!  The launch was a huge success (Congratulations L'Oreal Philippines) but let's be honest, the product HAS to deliver right?  Well, I'm here to let you know if it indeed, live up to its claim!

L'Oreal says ---

When you hit your mid-twenties, studies show that you become more prone to shine and blemishes. However, maintaining a flawless matte look shouldn’t be one of the daily tasks you need to worry about as you juggle several meetings at work in the morning up to social gatherings with friends in the evening.

Discover the magic of not having to retouch all day with the new Mat Magique by L’Oréal Makeup Designer/ Paris, the world leader in beauty. “The L’Oreal woman is highly motivated to achieve success in her life, so she definitely needs a foundation that can keep up with her busy lifestyle,” said Trisha Chua, Group Product Manager of L’Oréal Makeup Designer/Paris. “Our answer to this need is Mat Magique, a 12-hour matte foundation that gives flawless full coverage and long-wear, so Filipina urban sophisticates can stay shine-free, worry-free, and flawless all day. That’s the magical experience that L’Oreal Paris brings.”

The science behind the magic? Thirty percent of the Mat Magique formula is made of volcanic perlite, a natural, non-irritating sebum absorber. This is the highest concentration of this shine-busting ingredient in a makeup product to date.

Available in 5 shades.

Pros
  • Cute packaging.
  • Comes with refill priced at Php399.00
  • The sponge that comes with the packaging is made of good quality.
  • Light to medium coverage.
  • Can "mattify" the face without the dryness.
  • Tested, 12 hours+ NO retouch.  (consider my skin as combination - normal and dry)
  • Comes in 5 shades that suits most Filipinas.
  • Skin does not look cake-y or powder-y.
  • Comes in SPF34 but no white cast even on flash photography IF you used the right shade.

Cons
  • If you are acne-prone or have skin discoloration, the coverage may not be enough when worn alone.
Overall
A light to medium coverage powder foundation (when used alone) that can be transformed to high coverage when combined with concealer and your favorite foundation.  The powder indeed can make any oily parts of your face mattify without the obvious powder look.  Testing on normal and dry, sensitive skin, this product works in keeping my makeup intact for more than 12 hours!

Tips

  • Use the sponge for medium coverage.
  • Use a brush for light coverage or if you plan to use Mat Magique as a "setting powder".
  • For fuller coverage, apply concealer and foundation underneath!  The effect is flawless!
  • Pat or dab when it comes to application.
  • Less is more, apply more on areas that needed the oil-control and coverage, less on areas like the outer part of your face.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Powder users who like a bit of coverage and shine control!  Works for ALL skin types.

Where to purchase and how much?
At L'Oreal counters nationwide priced at Php499.00 (approx $11.34).

Packaging.
My mom flipped!  For the first time, she sees her favorite color in a compact!
Yes, I gave her 2!

I tested on shade Rose Ivory R1
But I'm also a Gold Ivory G1
I picked Rose Ivory because I wanted to add some "color" on my super plain face!

A closer look on R1 Rose Ivory on Pan
You get plain, matte powder, no shimmer!

Before and After Photo
Applied L'Oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder using a sponge.

Because I'm on my mid 30s and pimples are not as much as it was when I was in my teens, I can't show you how this powder would look on a problematic skin!  But, for your reference, I highlighted some of the areas.

White circle - my mole, you can see how it stays there, the powder's coverage is definitely light to medium.
Brown Circle - the redness of my cheeks were lessened with a few pat of the powder.
Blue Circle - a pimple, the pump remains but redness was gone.
Green Circle - yay for more even skin tone!  The redness around my nose disappeared!

Applied All over my face.
See how even my skin looks yet the effect is very natural?
This powder is really wonderful especially for a natural-makeup lover like myself!

After more than 8 hours of driving, playing with my little one, my skin looks fresh!  No retouch!

I also tested this powder on different occasions, wearing this powder alone and a lipstick, and actually wore this until my little one goes to bed!  It was more than 12 hours and so far, the powder stays fresh-looking all day!  Keep in mind that I haven't tested this on an oily skinned individual yet, do watch out for other Beauty Bloggers to review this product and I believe most of them have oily skin!  If I get a response from my sister regarding this (she has oily skin), I will definitely update this review.

Will you give L'Oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder a try?
I recently said NO to matte powders because I'm all into dewy looking skin!  BUT, this powder is an exception to the rule, though matte, it still gives a brightening effect leaving my skin looking fresh all day!
