Weekend Food Trip at: TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie

Every weekend, we make it a point to bond with both sides of the family, you probably knew that by now if you watch my stories.

So this post is no exception, we were off to bond with my mom-in-law at SM Megamall and I originally wanted Ooma because food there is great and my family haven't tried it there yet.  But...because it was weekend, line was too long so we went for the shortest line --- TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie.

TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie is Hong Kong comfort food with French Flair. True enough, you get the HK dishes with French interior.

Internationally awarded in Vancouver, they are famous for serving comfort food such as congee, Macanese Rice Dishes, Halibut Noodle Soup and of course, Snow Buns!

Crispy Barbequed Pork Snow Bun
3pcs for Php148.00

It is obvious people (like me) would compare this to Tim Ho Wan.  I personally love the bun of Tim Ho Wan but prefers the Pork BBQ filling of TuanTuan more.  Tim Ho Wan's sweeter while this one has a distinct smoked BBQ taste which I find much more authentic (if we talk about Hong Kong Cuisine).

Watercress and Almond Fish Soup

Php498.00
I have been to Hong Kong many times and dined in their restaurants but never tried Almond Fish soup and find this a bit unconventional for my very "Chinese Tongue".  I guess almond will always be for "dessert" and this soup has a milky taste.

I love the Shanghai Thin Noodles though, it tastes very refreshing!

If you are the type who is adventurous and is looking for noodle soup that does not taste similar as what you get in other Chinese restaurants, you definitely have to give TuanTuan a try.

Baked Pork Chop on Rice with Honey Tomato Bacon Sauce
Php388.00
One of my favorite dish in Macau are the baked rice.  They taste so heart-warming and tummy filling I crave for this whenever I'm on vacation.  I used to travel from my work place (Shenzhen) to Macau (via Boat) just to satisfy my Macanese Rice craving.

This hit the spot!  It brought me back to my OFW days and I like how I can taste the Bacon and sweetness on honey with all the ingredients not overpowering each other.  Everything tastes just perfectly right.

Pan-fried Boneless Lemongrass Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce
Php288.00
For someone who is a chicken lover, let alone for the chicken be boneless!  This dish got me at "teriyaki sauce".  Unfortunately, Lemongrass lovers will appreciate this dish more as the strong lemongrass flavor overpowers everything in this dish!

Not a fan of this dish (that's why I put this last) but it's just a matter of preference.  My mom-in-law liked this

I am honestly in the middle here, I'm not sure if I would like to go back and try other dishes but I find their dishes to be not my type.  Again it is a matter of preference as the restaurant is always full with happy family, group of friends dining inside.

I'd rather go for the conventional Chinese restaurants I love.  But again, that's just me.

Have you tried TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie?
