This Year, My Favorite Red Lipstick Is....

Happy first day of February!  My favorite month of the year!  Aside from being a "love" month, it is the month of my birthday!

To celebrate the month of hearts (though I celebrate it every month!), I would like to share to you my favorite red lipstick for the year!

On a normal day, you won't see me wearing red lipstick except on special occasions or probably special date nights!  Why?  Well, I may have found a couple of good red lipstick brands that works for my skin tone but I find it difficult to maintain them for the rest of the day without worrying much on lip dryness.

Yes, red lipstick can MAKE or BREAK a look!  (And I experience that within 24 hours!)  It MAKEs me look sexy upon application but several hours after, it BREAKs my look with the crocodile red lips that chaps, cracks and bleeds!  (not sexy!)

Recently, I've shared to everyone my SOS KIT that I received from CloseUp White Now (read post HERE). From that kit, I was able to find my best red lipstick to date!  No wonder it's pricey, luxurious, gorgeous --- it's from Coco Chanel!

Rouge Coco in Gabrielle

For the first time, I've found a red lipstick that doesn't require me to "prep" my lips several minutes prior to application!  I don't need to exfoliate my lips with a damp toothbrush or apply a lip gloss on top just to make sure the crocodile lips in me doesn't show up midday!
Rouge Coco is creamy and soft in texture making it easy for me to apply straight from tube.

Before and After Photo of me
wearing Gabrielle

I have tested wearing this product the whole day and so far, it does wear off after eating and drinking but I can easily re-apply the lip color and my lips would remain moisturized!  The added plus factor?  The gorgeous shade which is true red, neither warm nor cool so I would imagine any women of any skin color would look good in this!

This classic red shade also helps make my teeth appear whiter even Mr. AMW exclaimed: "Okay ah!" while taking a shot of my lips!

Proud to say: "I'm comfortable and confident with this!"
Have you found a perfect red lipstick for the year 2013?
What's the brand and shade?

So far, I have found great red lipsticks over the past years but the Rouge Coco Lipstick from Chanel is extraordinary in terms of its moisturizing properties and of course, the price!  This is definitely pricier than your regular lipsticks but I don't mind splurging once in awhile for my oh-so-poor dry lips!  If you're born with soft and supple lips...drop down on your knees and thank the heavens! *winks*

AMW Reviews: Yves Rocher Eye Make-up Remover with Camomile

I use makeup remover on a daily basis like I would do for my regular skincare regimen!  Even with various Cleansing Oils on hand, I prefer to wipe my eye makeup first with a separate eye makeup remover before moving forward to cleansing oils then facial cleanser!

No wonder I finish these products so fast I couldn't keep track on the different brands I've tried!  (I probably need to browse through my own reviews!  lol).

After I "hit the pan" with my Benefit Remove It Makeup Remover, I'm left with one "opened" makeup remover from Face of Australia so I told myself it's time to try another one! I do have this sickness of opening 2 similar products for comparison.

I got the Yves Rocher Eye Make-up Remover during my visit at their Trinoma branch.  I was told by SA that this is very gentle and works for sensitive eyes!

Yves Rocher says ---
Yves Rocher Eye Make Up Remover with Chamomile is specially formulated for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.  Gently eliminates all traces of eye makeup.  Soothes and leaves behind a feeling of freshness. No rinsing necessary. Formula tested under ophtalmological supervision.  Paraben free formula.

Size: 118 ml
Ingredients:

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Simple packaging, easy to control the amount or product needed.
  • Removes all traces of eye makeup, brow products and non-waterproof mascara and liners.
  • Faint floral smell.
  • Doesn't sting or irritate my eyes.
  • Doesn't feel heavy or oily.
  • Has Camomile which may help relax your eye area.
Cons
  • Does not completely remove waterproof liner and mascara.
Overall
A good eye makeup remover for very sensitive eyes plus the added camomile which is a huge plus to help soothe and relax tired eyes.  The product can remove most eye shadows but leaves a tiny amount of waterproof liner and mascaras.

Tips
  • For this product to be effective, apply a good amount of Yves Rocher Eye Make-up remover with camomile in a clean cotton pad, leave the pad directly on your closed lids and gently massage the product outwards.  This method makes it easier for me to "melt off" makeup.
  • For liners and mascara, take extra time to remove with a cotton bud.
  • Extra tip: Apply a good amount of product and leave it with your eyes closed.  The camomile will help relax and soothe tired eyes.
  • Leave the product inside the fridge for an extra cooling effect as you remove your eye makeup.
  • Though this is a no-rinse formula, I prefer to wash off everything with your choice of facial cleanser before going to bed.
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
People with very gentle and sensitive eyes.

Where to purchase and how much?
Locally for Php380.00 (approx $9.50) at Yves Rocher  TriNoma Mall, SM North Edsa The Block, SM South Mall, SM Fairview and Ayala Center Cebu.

Photos

A closer look on the packaging.
You can easily control the amount of "drops" you need.

For complete eye makeup remover, I prefer using a cotton pad, apply a good amount of Yves Rocher Eye Make-up Remover with Camomile and leave it for a couple of seconds as shown on photo below.  This does not only melt makeup but soothes my tired eyes at the end of the day.

Without much rubbing, this is the amount of product that was removed after leaving the make-up remover for around 20-30 seconds.  Extra step may be needed (like cleaning mascara and liner with cotton bud) if you use waterproof eye products.

Have you tried Yves Rocher Eye Make-up Remover with Camomile?
If not, have you tried any eye make-up remover that works for your eyes?

I have tried quite a number of eye makeup removers and I'm glad to say goodbye to eye makeup removers that put me to tears!  Companies are coming up with more lightweight make-up removers that works even for the most sensitive eyes!

AMW Reviews: Majolica Majorca Cream de Cheek in Custard Cream and Coral Cream

Majolica Majorca came out with their newest cheek products end of last year and I got it early this year to give this a try myself!  After testing this out, I have to say, I have to keep one for myself and put the other one inside my makeup train case as I would definitely use this for my bridal clients!

Here are the 2 shades I get to test, thanks to Cathy of Majolica Majorca Philippines!

Custard Cream

Coral Cream

Majolica Majorca says ---

A cheek color that blends in effortlessly leaving a natural healthy glow. A gel cream type with gloss that spreads on smoothly. Its soft texture leaves no sticky feeling. Blends in perfectly to moisturize and maintain a long-lasting color. Treatment effect to keep dry-prone cheeks moisturized at all times. Macadamia nuts oil, Vitamin E derivatives. Use as a base and apply just before a cheek powder to enhance the powder’s color.

Available shades: Custard Cream (OR 313), Shell Pink Cream (PK312), Coral Cream (RD 310), Kiichigo/Raspberry Cream (RD411)

Ingredients:

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Super cute, glass packaging.  As always, Majolica Majorca can never go wrong with their whimsical packaging!
  • No fragrance.
  • Pigmentation is good.  Build-able from sheer to heavy.
  • Staying power is good, stays until makeup removal.
  • Consistency of the product is good.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Powder finish.  Works for all skin types!
  • Non-greasy.
  • Doesn't dry out my dry skin.
  • No allergic reactions.
  • Matte finish yet creates a good dimension on your skin.
Cons
  • Glass bottle is wonderful but not suitable for travel.
Overall
A liquid to powder finish cheek product.  A little amount goes a long way, the product is easy to blend and never feel greasy on skin.  Works for all skin types and lasts the whole day!

Tips
from Majolica Majorca
  • Shake well before use.
  • Gently swirl brush around the inside rim of bottle to remove excess. Smile and apply an appropriate amount to the ‘apple’ of your cheek, then pat with fingers while blending in.
  • For a natural finish, dab as if drawing a circle, then gently pat while blending in.
from AMW
  • The shade on swatch may look different upon application.  It depends on your body chemistry.
  • Thus, base on statement above, I highly recommend to test product before purchase.
  • Start by applying a small amount and build coverage if needed.
  • Applied too much?  Don't worry, tap with your choice of powder foundation on top to "lessen pigmentation".
  • Highly recommended to be used on brides!
  • For Custard Cream: Works really well for people with fair to medium skin tone.
  • For Coral Cream: Works well for people with fair to dark skin tone.  (Heavier application maybe needed for people with darker skin tone.)
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Works for all skin types!  The shades Custard Cream and Coral cream works from dark to fair skin!

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Majolica Majorca counters for Php495.00 (approx $12.36)Like them on Facebook, Follow them on Twitter (@MajolicaPH)  and Instagram (@MajolicaPH).

Coral Cream on Bottle
Applied on hand without base

Lightly blended with fingers

Custard Cream Application

Custard Cream, matte,  is light yellow orange in shade. Once it sets on my (MAC's) NC20-25 skin, the effect turned out to be more orange as seen on photo below.

Custard Cream applied on both cheeks

Coral Cream Application

With the same type of application above, Coral Cream, also matte, looks a tad bit more peachy orange on my cheeks.  If I want the coral shade to appear heavier, I can apply a second layer of it as intensity can always be controlled with the creamy consistency of this cream blush!
Coral Cream applied on Both Cheeks

Have you tried Majolica Majorca's Cream de Cheeks?
Which shade would you pick based on my swatch and photos above?
I think both Custard Cream and Coral Cream looks good on any skin color and I tend to pick Custard Cream if I'm aiming for light blush and go for Coral Cream if I like more color on my cheeks!
