I am a COOKING MAMA.

Like the game, I slice everything quick and fast.  

We may be a family of 3 but I cook for family of 5 - I deliver my dishes to my in-laws and prepare more dishes for my husband to bring to work the next day.

Mother's day is such a special day for me because I get to celebrate with my 2 moms --- my mom, and mom-in-law.

I always make it a point to visit both moms on their special day and buy them food as we bond over it together with some story-telling.

This year, since it is technically NOT the end of pandemic yet, I've decided to bring food to both my moms and chat with them instead of dining with them to protect them.  Because our language of love has always been food-gifting, receiving food as gifts meant so much to me this Mother's day!

Easy Pha-Max Wheatgrass Drink - a hidden gem

 

I don't know about you but I crave for flavored drinks since the moment I wake up.

It always starts with Coffee, Tea for brunch, and juices and any cold drinks in the afternoon until the evening.  Ah, I wish I'd call myself healthy, I try to eat healthily but unhealthy drinks are ruining my diet!  

Thankful I found Easy Pha-max Wheatgrass  during pandemic.  It started out me looking for drinks that would keep me safe from the virus!  When we hear the word Wheatgrass, we immediately had this "yuck" sound on top of our head.  I have to admit it, I was flinching when I first poured the powder in a cold glass of water thinking it is the end of the world! *laughs*

Who would've thought a health drink turned into a drink that I truly enjoy?  Easy Pha-Max Wheatgrass in Lemon and Honey are both my favorite!  Even the original flavor isn't bad, but since I love flavored drinks, I chose Lemon and my husband loves Honey!  I honestly look forward to have a nice drink before I eat my breakfast!

We moms have to admit that because of our busy schedule, I ended up skipping breakfast a lot of times!  Or eat late.  I have stomach ulcer and a glass helped me power up through the morning.  (Note: This is not in exchange of breakfast, be careful and check with your doctor if you are unsure.)

Vida-C and Yobick Drinks

 

Things are looking up, I hope it gets really better this year.  But that said, we should continue to stock up on making sure we have the best immunity especially since it is already Level 1 in Metro Manila.

I am currently loving Vida C as my flavorited drink + Vitamin C booster.

Vida C is a soda that contains 1000mg of Vitamin C for better immunity.  It tastes like flavored soda and so far, it does not make my stomach acidity feel bad!

While Yobick, another discovery,  is a prebiotic yoghurt drink. Yobick doesn't have to be kept cold because it doesn't contain live lactobacilli. Prebiotics feed the good bacteria in our body which improves digestion and overall gut health.

I love both Original flavor and Sakura Flavor.  

SALO Lechon Belly

 

Second time to eat Salo’s Lechon Belly and it never fail to impress me with the extra crispiness.

You don’t believe me?  I did not believe it myself.  It was delivered at 11am so imagine this to be cooked hours before.  By lunch time, no need to reheat and we ate it as is, very crunchy, tasty and the meat is tender with the right amount of thin layer of fats.

The meat itself is very flavorful because you can see just how much herbs and spieces they use!  They did not scrimp on that.

An order comes with Achara and Garlic suka.  The combination is just perfect!  

Now let’s talk about dinner time, I just reheat everything in an oven and it came out fresh as newly cooked!  And best of all, this shocked me even more!  The next day, I have a few pieces left and I don’t wan tto hassle of turning on the whole oven for a smal piece.  I simply refried it using a non-stick pan with few oil —- it came out perfect!  Even crunchier!  I just don’t know how they prepare this dish but they are doing it right 1000% !

Easy Recipes from Kimbap to Shrimp Dumplings!

Over the week, I have been busy creating some "complicated-looking" dishes that are quite easy to make!  Blame it on my cravings!  I have been having cravings for both Dumplings and Kimbap so I've decided to make one myself since I have no leads on the best ones online!  

And guess what?  I ended up making 60pcs of Dumplings (not bad for a first-timer) and 8 rolls of Kimbap!  

I am extremely happy with my dumplings but I've decided to re-do my Kimbap using ingredients that are more flavorful (like Spam instead of Korean ham).  Take note, it's all in the preference, there's no right or wrong ingredients to put inside your Kimbap!

Weekend Food Delivery from Pizza Pizza

 

"The Official Buy 1 Take 1 Pizza Always and Forever."

Does that sound like the best pick-up line food edition EVER?

That's the promise of my good friend's business called Pizza Pizza PH.  Ang sabi nga nila: "Bakit isa lang?  Eh kung pwede namang dalawa ang _____?"  A choice between Jowa (BF) and Pizza!  I'd go for the latter as I already found my forever in Mr. AMW (naks!)

Straight from their kitchen in San Juan, I got 2 Pizza flavors delivered straight to my doorstep.  Pizza Pizza PH All Meat and Chicken Pesto.  I was leaning on All Meat as I have never been a fan of Pesto dishes!  But after trying out both, it was a surprise for me to lean on Chicken Pesto because it is extremely delicious in so many ways --- you eat chunks of chicken a perfect balance of pesto, a huge slice of tomatoes in each triangle and a whole lot of flavors going on in there minus the oil!  It just felt right taking each bite without the guilt!

Of course, All Meat Pizza didn't fail!  It was the normal All Meat pizza so I didn't really put it on spotlight!  What I wanted to say is it has a good amount of serving - I previously ordered a much more expensive pizza that weekend and that paled to Pizza Pizza in comparison in terms of ingredients and pizza crust!  This is your ultimate Brick Oven Pizza baby!

Weekend Food Trip: The Cake Cartel and Jollibee Family Pans

 

Oh, how time flew by so fast.  It is indeed in the middle part of October and with the sudden turnout of events, I find myself getting back to my groove - working out, tutoring my son, cooking and eating!

When COVID-19 started, I find myself NOT eating normally.  I would cook a lot but never get to eat or appreciate what I cook.  Because of the pandemic, I got no taste buds to eat my favorite food or even try out new snacks or desserts.

I guess, we as human make the most of what we have.  After this pandemic, we try to do what we can and go back to our lives.

Introducing, a collaboration between my favorite Japanese Bakery Kumori and Theo & Philo Artisan Chocolates, they merged their specialty into melt-in-your-mouth Signature S'mores Tarts.

These tarts are crunchy tart shells filled with 65% dark chocolate ganache topped with torched whipped marshmallow frostings.

I personally do not like marshmallows so I don't have any expectation from this dessert.  But it was love at first bite.  I believe Kumori when the brand says #BiteIntoClouds because it felt like it.  I was surprised a finished a cup of tart immediately and it tastes even better (IMHO) when chilled!

I remember how my mom would say: "Don't waste money on flowers, they will be thrown to the trash, better spend on food!"

I was recently introduced to Jamie's Artisan Blooms who was born because of lockdown!  Would you believe the business started a little bit after Mother's Day?  Yes, I get all those background information because the "baker" herself is my schoolmate.  

It started because of her love for Art (she has always been talented, working closely with brands for collabs) and here she was.  Even she herself was surprised on getting into food business!

But for a newbie like her, I would say she is a perfect example of giving chances to EVERYONE.  Who would've thought someone who really isn't professional in the kitchen would come up with products looking more than professional?  I mean just look at these!  These are made with care and extreme talent but at the end of the day - food is food.  I have to taste these and let you know my thoughts....

Weekend Food Trip: Oh Em Gie Cupcakes

If you love cupcakes but disliked the super sweet or over the top sugary type...join MY  Cupcake Club.

Over the whole duration of quarantine, I craved for a specific type of cupcake so many times, ordered online more than 5 times and I never get to taste the cupcake I really wanted.

Until that day when good friend Jowly :P  sent me a box of Oh Em Gie! Kitchen Cupcakes.

One of the most beautifully curated box of cupcakes I've seen so far.  And that's not all!  I was floored with the various flavors they offer!  

6 different batters for the adventurous food lover in me!

2. Cookies and Cream
3. Peanut Butter with Choco
4. S'mores
5. Peaches and Cinnamon
6. White Chocolate and Rose

After taking a bite on each cupcake, cleaning my palate in between with a good cup of black coffee.  I knew that White Chocolate and Rose won the top spot!  Cookies and Cream came in second and the rest, I just don't want to stress about it anymore, I just want to say, they taste unique, refreshing and yummy!

Go ahead, indulge yourself and make sure to indulge with quality :D
