Askmewhats Reviews: CS Gel Liner in White

Have I ever told you my love affair with Gel Liners?
Million times! lol
Here's another color added to my gel liner collection

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • creamy, no tugging
  • very affordable
  • pigmented
  • great to be used as e/s base to make the e/s vibrant
  • texture is ok, not too hard or runny in consistency
  • no allergies
  • no scent
Cons
  • does not last long: I put this on the waterline and it's gone before midday
  • these liners are not labeled if you purchase them straight from CS (I bought mine at MM shop so mine is labeled, thanks for doing this Toma)
  • smudges, even after waiting for it to dry. (Prettybeautiful, this is definitely not for you!)

Overall

This is not "the Star" gel liner from CS. I find that using this as an e/s base is better than using this as a liner.

I will remain firm to what I've written in the past, CS gel liners are great but not all the colors are consistent! :) So if you love CS True Black, do not expect all the textures will be like that.

Tips
  • If you plan to use this as base, make sure to put on eye primer
  • If used as eyeliner, pat on white eyeshadow to "seal" the color for it to last longer
  • Experiment with different brushes to see which brush works the best
  • I find that using a pointed eyelining brush is better than a flat liner brush as it's more pigmented and the color shows up more
Will I repurchase?

No. One white gel liner is enough for me.

Where did I purchase and how much?

Makeup Mix Shop for $5.00 (approx Php245.00) on sale
I think she's not selling them anymore.
You can purchase these alternatively at CS website.

Here's to show how it looks
as base
think liner
thick liner

  1. Oh, that actually looks like it'd make a great base... though I'm not sure what I'd use a white base for, lol.

    Cute little package. =)

  2. Hey Nikki, would you mind doing a post on how you use this to line your eyes? Not the method, but, err, how to use it to complement the shadows?

    Muchas gracias! :)

  3. I've always wanted to try CS gel liners as eyeliners themselves. I was looking for a cheaper alternative for my Black Track Fluid Line from MAC, guess I would have to re-think about my purchase! Thanks for the review :)

  4. I would probably go for it if it has a better staying power...But the idea of gel liner is quite interesting though, maybe Stila would do a better job if they do the same thing...

  5. I want gel liners but I am scared of trying colors other than black >w<)/ there are multiply shops that carry them too. unfortunately it sells for 375 + shipping T_T so it will cost around 400 something. OTL,, would the eyeshadow be hard to blend if I use it as a make up base?

  7. thank u for having me in mind nikki :) so sweet of u <3

well, i think CS gel just won't work for me, i tried with eye base, then with sealant, smudged anyway. i am surprised that gel liner is actually much easier to maneuver than liquid or pencil! but too bad i have yet to find one that really works for me. :(

  8. Catherine , it makes any e/s color pops! :)

Tine, sure, I'll try to use this more often as liner, usually just the inner tear duct :) No problemo!

Female Intuition, the CS True Black is really saleable and has always been compared to MAC's Black Track :) It works for me but it still smudges to some!

  9. Citrine, Stila would do the greatest job as gel liner (IMO) but Stila can't be use for waterline! :)

Gia, hahah actually I always reach out for the blacks and browns still! :) So far, I pat on the e/s colors onto the white base then blend, it works ok! :)

Audrie, it's ok as a base, not as a liner! :)

  25. I want to try this now :D, thanks ^_^!
Pencil liners are my favourite, but I have to admit I've never tried gel, and white is my favourite liner colour so I'd probably like this :).

    [Adds to wishlist ;).]

  26. i wonder why
CS white one smudges but the true black one doesnt
is there a quality control problem?
    like inconsistent formula? :\

  27. Chrissy, it really depends on your preference, I personally love Gel Liner because it dries up pretty fast. I also use Liquid liner but I find gel liners lasts really long and the price is worth it :)

Anastacia,hi pretty girl, thanks for dropping by!

Cris, wow...I would say I love all pencil liners in general, but if I like added "ooomph" on my makeup, gel liner is for me! :)

Lynn, one reason..inconsistent product! that's just it! :)
