Weekend Food Tripping at: Antonio's Grill Tagaytay + More Blings!

The weekend food tripping post happened before the year 2010 ended.  My brother who came back for a short vacation wanted to relax with the family and wanted a short car drive just to unwind!  Tagaytay has always been top of the list even though we always do nothing there but eat!  That's our definition of relaxation - just in case if you don't know!  *hahaha*

It was a first for us to dine at Antonio's Grill because most of the time, the place is jampacked so we always visit other nearby restaurants instead.  Since it was our lucky day, though most of the people from the Metro are off to Tagaytay (base on the highway traffic), we are lucky to be a step ahead in everything and got a nice parking space and was able to get a table in no time!

Sizzling Sisig
Php290.00 (approx $6.60)
Anyone who visits the Philippines must give Sisig a try.  Antonio's Grill Sisig is made from chopped pig's ears and cheeks with Chicken Liver.  It's a bit oilier than other Sisig I've tried but there's always calamansi (local lemon) to help ease the oiliness!

Pinakbet
Sorry I lose track of the price of this dish.  But Pinakbet or Pakbet which is also known as Meat-Vegetables Stew.  Various vegetables where used accentuated with Bagoong (Shrimp Paste), some would put Gata (coconut milk).  The whole country has its own version of Pinakbet, I've tasted quite a lot of version but my mom, who lived in Baguio for quite some time said this is the Ilocano version.  Could be right or wrong, who cares?  It's yummy!

Bulalo (Filipino Beef Bone Marrow Stew)
Php625.00 (approx $13.50)
Beef Bulalo is actually made from beef bone marrow which is boiled for hours until the marrow is tapped out from the bone. Sounds cholesterol infested dish right?  It is!  Great for once in awhile though!

I have to admit, I will choose Sinigang anytime of the day instead of Bulalo, I am not a fan of this!  But since my brother loves this soup dish and he's actually craving for this, we can't miss this right?  Funny how the waiter says this is good for 2 persons, there's 6 of us and this is enough for sharing!

Chicken Inasal
(Grilled Barbecue Chicken)
Pecho (breast)
Php110.00 (approx $2.50)
You can choose between regular or spicy, and obviously, I chose the spicy version because I'm feisty that way!  :P  I like how fresh the chicken tastes and eventhough breast part tends to be the driest part, I am actually impressed with the juiciness of the meat!

Bottomless Drinks (Iced Tea, Lemonade or Cola)
Php80.00 (approx $2.00)

The place is really relaxing and customers  are coming in for that "Home-style" cooking!  Waiters are quite attentive and you have a wonderful view of the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano!

On another note, I've been addicted to "blings" lately, after my "bling-y" nail art tutorial, I purchased a Jewelry Seal for my mobile phone!

Instead of putting it directly at the back of my phone, I applied it on my black phone case instead!  I know the blings are not going to last long but who cares?  It's too cute!

Best of all?  Bought it at Digibabe (SM Mall) for only Php80.00 (less than $2.00)!  Cheap find!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!
Enjoy your weekend food tripping and forget about diet! :P

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  5. Hi Nikki! I ate here with my friends when we went up to Tagaytay last October--their sinigang was good! Sayang you didn't try it. I agree their servings are HUGE!

Btw when did you eat here? There was a fire here on the 27th, I think. So I hope you weren't there at the time!
