Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit Review

I haven't been a "concealer-user" lately, most of my concealers are inside my make-up kit for clients! Its not that I consider myself perfect but you probably read from my previous makeup looks and posts that I prefer to use my foundation as a concealer!  This is just one of the many "money saving" tips I can share base on experience!

Unfortunately, in this world, there's a lot of Butts *ahem* I mean...BUTS out there *lol*, what if you suffer from really dark under eye circles?  What if you need more coverage that a regular foundation can't give?

That's where concealers come in, most of the usual concealer issues are ---
  • It creases and settles into fine lines.
  • It looks more obvious that I have dark undereye circles each time I use one.
  • My eyes look puffy!
  • It shows up on photos!
Let me share to you a concealer review and several concealer application tips as you read on! :)  Hope this helps!

One of my favorite concealer to date --- The Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit

Conceal and set in one portable kit. Bobbi’s Creamy Concealer blends easily to instantly cover and brighten dark circles. It also helps maintain skin’s moisture levels for a smooth, virtually line-less look. Fuss-free pressed powder sets concealer for long-lasting wear.

Kit includes
  • Concealer
  • Sheer Finish Pressed Powder
Net wt: .06oz/1.7g

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Very small and portable, you can easily take this along ANYWHERE!
  • Convenient that the setting powder is in pressed form, non-messy!
  • A little amount is enough, so the product can go a long long way.
  • Heavy duty on concealing function but feels very light on skin!
  • Does not crease on my dry skin!
  • Does not oil up in the middle of the day.
  • Does not only conceal but gives a brightening effect.  I don't look like I slept only an hour or two.
  • Though this set is perfect for the undereye circles, I also use this to spot conceal other areas of the face.
  • Coverage is build-able - can go from light, medium to heavy coverage without looking unnatural.
  • A lot of shades to choose from!
Cons
  • Pricey especially if you're not used to paying that much for a tiny concealer.
Overall
The Beige Concealer shade has a hint of "salmon" which is perfect to cover darkness in the under eye area.  The setting powder is very light and does not have much "color" to it so it works on most skin color.  This also explains why the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit's Pressed Powder comes in only 1 shade --- PALE Yellow.  Works well to brighten!

A great investment for people whose main problem is their dark undereye circles.  How about puffiness?  Puffiness can also be reduced with the right application technique plus using a correct shade.

Tips
  • Use this prior to foundation application, most concealers are used AFTER foundation application but for Bobbi Brown, they prefer it this way because you can skip foundation and just set your face with your preferred setting powder or powder foundation.  Less make-up is always better.
  • If you have very dry skin, make sure to moisturize your face with a moisturizer and apply moisturizing eye cream on the under eye area, wait for a couple of minutes before you proceed with makeup application.
  • Practice application using your clean fingers, a concealer/foundation brush or sponge.  I prefer to use my foundation brush, then my fingers to gently pat the product for a natural, crease-less finish.
  • For corrector users, layer this on top of your corrector with patting motion.
  • Application: if you use your fingers, make sure to always work with clean hands, or you can use a brush in "grabbing" a bit of the product, apply onto your eyes then work with your ring finger.
  • Practice makes perfect, it takes a while to get the application method and the right amount of product for that perfect, natural finish.
  • For "brightening" effect in the middle of the day, pat the under eye area with oil control sheet then use a fluffy brush and re-apply the pressed powder for oil absorption.
  • Can't decide which concealer kit shade is right for you?  Have the make-up artists on the counter help you decide or choose the same shade you use as the Bobbi Brown Foundation.
  • To make sure the concealer does not show up too obvious on photos, take a picture of yourself after makeup application and check.
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who suffers dark undereye circles and want to conceal it and stays that way for the whole day!

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Bobbi Brown counters for Php1,900 (approx $45.20).

Applied on Hand

Application technique AMW way
a photo on how to use Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit
  1.  I used a foundation brush in applying the creamy concealer with a patting motion.
  2. Continue to pat until the lines or the concealer blends into the skin.
  3. With a fluffy eye brush, I brush a bit of the Sheer Pressed Powder to set the concealer.
  4. Turn the fluffy brush side ward as shown on photo and gently brush going all the way outwards.

  6. Hi Nikki. I've been wanting to try this but Im really concern because I havent changed my concealer for years because everything I tried tends to settle into the deep lines under my eyes. Does it settle into lines? Also I have very dark eyes circles, like darkbrownish eye circles haha. Thank you Nikki. :)

  13. hi ms. nikki. I also use my cream foundation to conceal my under eye. but i am afraid it's drying my skin so it may be a great idea to use an eye concealer instead. would this work for puffy eyes to0?

  23. @Carla Gumin Sis, there are really some rare case where the under eye area tends to get dry at once! Have you tried moisturizing your eye area with the right moisturizing eye cream prior to concealer application? So far, this is creamier as compared to other brands I've tried but again, you may have special dryness under the eye area so i suggest moisturizing first! Give it a try and let me know :)

For the color of the darkness, YES i am positive this can be covered by Bobbi Brown creamy concealer as long as you pick the right shade for you :) Mas concern ko yung lines :)

  30. @Ria Thanks for the compliment Ria.

If you have really dark or puffy eyes, you really need to use a stronger concealer to conceal it. Puffy eyes, have you tried treating it first with eye creams ?

Yes, concealers can "lesssen" puffiness but it won't remove it overall because its not even discoloration. I will try to do a tutorial on how to hide puffiness or "lessen" once I wake with puffy eyes to show a more detailed step-by-step :D

  38. WoW! It did wonders on your eyes... I think it's worth it :)

Nikki, do you think it will last even if you have oily lids? I have very oily lids kasi and my concealer creases at the middle of the day because of it.. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. sis, I never use this on top of my lids, I believe it will crease if you use this on lids, but I only use this on the undereye area so i think it'll stay naman! If you have duper oily lids, it would help to apply a bit of that primer underneath before concealer application :)
