Weekend Food Tripping at: Masas

Happy Sunday Food Tripping!  Are you going out to eat today?  Where are you heading?

Food!  One way to relieve my stress is to talk about food and of course, to try them out!  When my brother was here, he was definitely craving for Filipino Dish!  I can't blame here!  After years of working in China, the first month that I was here, I was in Filipino Dish crave! <-- if such term does exist!

Since we were just around Greenbelt area, I suggest for Masas for the nice "homey" ambiance at the same time, to satisfy my brother's cravings!

Masas Crispy Sisig
Php250.00 (approx $5.70)
Masas very own sisig with crunch
I have tried better sisig dishes out there but I have to admit, they are quite unique in terms of texture and "size" of the sisig bits as compared to other restaurants.

Sinigang na Baboy
Php285.00 (approx $6.50)
Pork belly cubes slowly simmered in tamarind broth
with assorted native vegetables
Right amount of tamarind for that sour broth with ample amount of vegetables and pork

Kare Kare
Php325.00 (approx $7.40)
Beef ox tail and tripe stew in peanut sauce
Let's not forget the bagoong! This Kare Kare dish tastes great especially for anyone who's craving for one! I always get to eat my Kare Kare if my brother is back in the country!  I ask for "loads of bagoong" or else, I'm not going to eat this no matter how delicious this may be :)

Laing
Php110.00 (approx $2.50)
Dried taro leaves cooked in coconut milk
Okay, I can't give my thoughts on this dish, I apologize but I'm not a fan of laing.  Don't get me wrong, I like coconut milk dishes and I like vegetables but I just don't like them together! hehehe  My mom and brother loved it though!  Saw their happy faces after chowing this down.

Gising-Gising
Php98.00 (approx $2.00)
Awakingly coked Spinach dish with pork and chilies in coconut milk
I did say I'm not a fan of coconut milk and vegetables mixed together but if there's one exception to the rule, that'll be Gising-Gising!  Coconut milk taste is quite strong in this dish, though I love this dish, my ultimate favorite Gising-Gising dish is still from  Cafe Adriatico!

Inihaw na Pusit
(served with Ensaladang Mangga on the side)
Php225.00 (approx $5.25)
Grilled squid in sweet sauce
The squid is very tender and indeed quite sweet!  Perfect match with garlic rice!

Inihaw na Liempo
Served with Ensaladang Talong on the side
Php280.00 (approx $6.40)
Charcoal broiled pork belly marinated with Masas Original recipe
I may not be a fan of pork fat but I do like the taste of their Inihaw na Liempo!  Cooked just right and the perfect combination of this is eating this together with the ensaladang talong that was served.

Of course, the best way to enjoy Filipino dishes is to order a bowl of garlic rice!  Feel free to go beyond 1 bowl and no one will judge you! :)

And of course, you can choose either soda or iced tea!  I went for the latter! :)

Service was a bit slow and I guess it's understandable as they waited to serve all the dishes at one time!  We ordered 2 orders of each dishes mentioned above and we went out with full tummy!

Satisfy Filipino Dishes Craving = SUCCESS!

The restaurant accepts cash and credit card payments.

What's your "must try" dish from Masas?
