Weekend Food Trip at: House of Mantou

Happy Weekend everyone!
I'm off for a busy weekend, busy in the sense that I'll be popping anytime soon!  I am so excited and nervous at the same time!  Any moms out there who can give me the strength? :D

Speaking of strength, I lost my appetite for good 5 months at the early stage of my pregnancy and mind you, what you guys told me was right, I got my appetite back + MORE on the last trimester and I am starting to call myself "bottomless pits" as I can't seem to get full!  Since my doctor's appointment is on a weekly basis now, I get famish after every doctor's appointment so it's a date for Mr. AMW and I to eat something before we head home or visit my mom!

One of the many restaurants around Quezon Avenue area that caught our attention is House of Mantou!  The name itself is cute and worth checking out!

By the way, little did we know that the restaurant offers dimsum promotion at a certain time (which we didn't get to avail) but it's okay!  Their dimsum is quite good and filling!

Pork Siomai
Beancurd Roll
Php68.00 (approx $1.70)/order
I'm quite picky with my dimsum and so far, I can't say they are the best around the Metro but they definitely are worth your money!  The Siomai is quite tasty, not too much extenders and very flavorful even without soy sauce.  As for the beancurd roll, come on!  You're asking a beancurd lover?  I LOVE this and will definitely order this again!

Corn Soup
Php128.00 (approx $3.20)
Good for 2-3 servings

House of Mantou offers 2 types of soup, one is the Minced Spinach and Seafood and the other one is Crab Meat Corn Soup.  Since I'm allergic to seafood, I requested for a simple Corn Soup dish and my wish was granted.  It wasn't my kind of corn soup as it tasted like "instant" version but I'm happy they accommodated my request.

Yang Chow Fried Rice
Medium Php138.00 (approx $3.45)
Large Php238.00 (approx $5.95)

"A good Chinese restaurant is good if they can serve delicious Yang Chow Fried Rice" ---  Well..that's according to Mr. and Mrs. AMW!  *laughs*  I know Yang Chow Fried Rice is a very simple rice dish but it's not always you find a Chinese restaurant that serves good tasting ones with the right mix of ingredients (and good amount of it!).  So far, House of Mantou's fried rice didn't fail us!  It's flavorful, full of vegetables, seafood and meat mixed oh so well together you get all the blast of flavor on each bite!

Beef Brocolli
Php228.00 (approx $5.70)
Thumbs up on this very tender beef strips!  The fresh brocolli flower is an added bonus!  Happy with this dish!

Squid with Salt and Pepper
Php218.00 (approx $5.45)
Though the serving isn't as much, I still appreciate the yummy, very tender tasting squid!  The use of salt and pepper was done in a way they married so well in each squid strips!  My dad can't stop munching on this considering he's very picky with his Squid with Salt and Pepper Dish!

Fried Fish Fillet with Sweet & Sour Sauce
Php218.00 (approx $5.45)
A dish that has a huge "Must Try" sign!  And true enough, this dish isn't a failure!  The fish fillet were fried perfectly!  Crunchy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside.  The sweet and sour sauce is a winner as well!  Not too sweet nor sour!  Just the right amount of red pepper strips with onions give the right crunch on each bite!

Overall, the experience dining at House of Mantou is a lovely one!  The server was super friendly and helpful we actually ended up tipping him more!  The place is not that big but cozy enough for families to enjoy a simple, quiet Chinese style lunch/dinner!

The restaurant accepts Cash and Credit Card payments.  No service charge on bill.
