Readers' Corner: What to Invest for Post Pregnancy Body

Dear Mommy AMW Friends!
Today's topic is about Post Pregnancy Fashion!  You won't see me posting photos on the clothes I wear (as we all have different tastes and styles) but I'm talking more on the"getting back your body in shape" type of fashion!

My mom-in-law, 3 months after giving birth went back to her pre-pregnancy body!  Her clothes are proof on how sexy she was even after giving birth to a son and daughter!  I tried wearing her old clothes and I can't even fit some of them!

Fast forward to my turn as a mom, who gave birth 3 months ago, I make sure to at least "try" to get back to my pre-pregnancy body (not that I have voluptuous and sexy body to begin with) but at least push back the extra hips that appeared after labor!  (promise, lumaki talaga ang balakang! lol)

Here are some of the things I think every new mommy should invest on to get back in shape or to at least look good while trying to get back in shape.

Abdominal Binder
less than Php300.00
Available at Mercury Drugstore
This Abdominal Binder is best used for mommies who had C-section.  As for me, I had normal delivery but I prefer using this as this is easy to use!  Most binders are thick, bulky and gives you the sweaty feel, this one is made of breathable material and so far, I didn't sweat as much as regular "workout" binders.  I ask Mr. AMW to help me tighten up the binder for the first month!  Mommies can use this until 3 months but I've decided to change this to something less bulky and something I can easily move around since I move around much while carrying baby.

Pigeon Style Up System Step 1 -
Pelvic Supporter and Pelvic Nipper
Php2,700.00 ( $67.50)
Available at SM Department Stores
This comes in one piece pelvic supporter and a pelvic nipper.

P.S. I threw the box so I had to take a photo from a website.
 3 ways to use this
I was on my second month post-labor when I visited SM Department store and saw this!  I was aiming for Step 2 as it looks easier to use but they are out of stock.  I gave this a try because the material is soft and definitely way thinner than my first binder (above).  The Pelvic Supporter goes from upper pelvic to waist and you have to wear it like you wear your regular underwear.  You slip it from your feet going to your hips.  It is a bit challenging to use but you can immediately feel the "tightening effect".

The added Pelvic Nipper is great to give added support to the extra "bulge".  I prefer using both all together though you can literally use this in 3 ways!  The sales lady at SM Department store suggested me to use this even after 3 months.  But according to the Pigeon box, this is best used immediately after giving birth until 3 months.

Mamaway Spaghetti Strap Body Shaper
Php1,488.00 (approx $37.20)
Available at Zalora

I purchased this months ago before I gave birth and it was the best purchase ever!  I use this when I go out and this is the most comfortable body shaper I've used!  Aside from accentuating the almost non-existent curves in a super comfortable way from waist down to the pelvic area, the added easy access opening to express milk or breastfeed makes this a winner in my mommy dictionary! :)

Pigeon Style Up System Step 2 -
 Pelvic Waist Nipper
Php2,699.75 (approx $67.50)
Available at SM Department Stores

How to use
Very easy to use and this one is made of soft material and I love the fact that it isn't bulky and made with mesh material so I don't sweat at all!  I love the fact that I can loosen up the waist portion and tighten up the area of the abdominal region.  I can move around easily without having weird feeling that my face will turn black and blue from lack of oxygen.  It is very pricey but I love Step 2 more and I wished I purchased Step 2 earlier and skip Step 1!

These are what I've used and so far, I use all of the above but concentrating more of Pigeon style Up System Step 2 when I'm at home and Mamaway Spaghetti Strap Body Shaper when I go out!  I use the remaining 2 as backup when I need to have them washed.  Seriously, it is pricey to invest on body shapers but I think at the end of the day, it's worth it!  My husband immediately saw the shrinking of my BIG belly just a month after giving birth with the help of the binder!

But of course, keep in mind that a good diet and exercise is still the way to go (which I don't seem to do so I'm not practicing what I'm preaching!  lol).

Any other post pregnancy investments for mommies out there?
I'd love to hear from you but I hope I'm not going to shop again!

  1. Hello! I used Belly wrap from Belly Bandit (bought from Amazon.com as the price in department store is bulls**t!) and the hip wrap thingi also from amazon! I guess they work the same. :)

I do notice that the hip wrap works, but you have to use it immediately after birth up to x weeks (sorry! I forgot!) because the hip bones are still soft due to the pregnancy hormones.

    Good luck! :)

    1. OO please do use binders! grabe, I didn't really mind at first kasi I was in pain! Mas importante ang matulog at mag breastfeed and forget about yourself! But thankfully, nangulit din si Mom in law, she forced me to wear one so I'm thanking her!

  4. wow congrats on loosing ur belly fat... I feel hopeless! I am using that very same blue abdominal binder, I like that it's lightweight but damn it is super duper itchy on my belly! I want to buy the pigeon step 2 but it is soooo pricey, huhuhu. I wish I have extra moolah to spend for that.
