I Think I'm Beautiful!

Congratulations Jhoanna Tacorda!  You are the lucky winner of my Dove gift pack! :) Thanks!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a "Beauty Blogger", I never thought of myself as a "beautiful person" but just someone who writes about beauty.  When topics arise on how "beauty bloggers" should be beautiful to be able to blog about beauty products, I was taken aback....seriously..What is Beautiful for you?

If you ask me, well, my husband thinks I'm the most beautiful woman alive! *laughs*  My mom says I'm very beautiful a day before her surgery which almost put her life at risk....that, is enough for me.

According to some of my friends (I call them MY REAL FRIENDS lol), they think I'm beautiful and you know what?  I used to think I just have a beautiful personality and that's it!  But now that I'm older (and wiser) hahaha  I tell myself I'm beautiful because God created me in His own Liking and God never fails in creating his "perfect" masterpiece.  I'm beautiful because someone fell head over heels in love with me for more than a decade *ahem* Mr. AMW --- ikaw lang ang may topak! :P

What's with the "I'm Beautiful" topic?  Well, recently, I attended Dove's 1st ever summit and I learned so much about #RealBeauty.

Dove, to illustrate that the right state of mind can unlock a powerful feeling of beauty that lives inside all women did an experiment buided by psychologiest and New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Ann Kearney-Cooke (Ph.D., Counseling Psychology).

During the experiment, Dr. Kearney-Cooke invited participants to wear a custom-made "beauty patch" for two weeks, which would help them feel more beautiful.  True enough, women who used the patch for 2 week period agreed that wearing the "beauty patch" helped to improve their self-esteen.

At the end of the experiment, it was revealed that the "beauty patch" contained nothing and that the power of believing in their own beauty influenced feeling beautiful.

Beauty is definitely a State of Mind

  2. As they say beauty is in the eye of the Beholder. Self confidence and being happy everyday no matter what, contentment, appreciation from people who truly loves you makes me a beautiful person.

When people tell me Im beautiul anytime. That simple. Why? I was strugling with my insecurities when I was in my teenage years because of a scar I have on my nose. I have been called names such as Dodong scarface , karate kid and babaeen may strikethrough. I gave myself a hard time and would feel really ugly and small about myself. Only when i decided to ignore what other people call me and started lovin myself more. It was the time i became happier and more beautiful. That for me is real beauty. #realbeauty #IamBeautiful #RealbeautyAMW

I am Beautiful! Yes i am because i'm unique creature of GOD.
I am beautiful because i stand for what is right & ready to help other people in my own unique way.
I am Beautiful because i am real & be myself always.
I am Beautiful because i accept my flaws in life without hesitation.

My hubby told me, You're beautiful hon not only on the outside but on the inside as well. You're beautiful because of your simplicity. (oooh!) :)

My 3 year old son said, Mama you're beautiful because i like your dress mama. Your shoes & your pretty face. HAHAHAHA!

My mama told me also that i'm beautiful kasi wala naman daw pangit sa pamilya namin & manang-mana daw ako sa kanya! haha. Ikaw na ma!

While my friends told me that i'm Beautiful becuase of my hair & my skin. <3

WHatever! Basta i believed I AM BEAUTIFUL! :)))

My girl friends/classmates says that I'm beautiful but I think because of the help of make up. I remember one time I didn't bother to wear make up since it was our swimming class they said " Ate parang may iba sayo!" the other one said "di ako sanay bat ganun parang may kulang". Then I realize that it was make up so without make up I think I'm not that beautiful, in their eyes maybe they were just shy to say that I don't look nice without make up, but I know what they mean already with those comments. But my guy friends will say that I am pretty with or without make up, maybe because my guy friends don't just look at me in the face they look in my personality. Maybe being beautiful depends on how also we act and believe in ourselves. We might give in on the comments of people around us but what is really important is we know that we are beautiful inside and out. :)

    I don't just think i'm beautiful, I believe that I am beautiful.

I believe that everyone has their own unique way of being beautiful. Yep, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but everyone has real and unique beauty which can be appreciated by a particular person and even of many.

I am beautiful and I won't change anything with what I have and I am right now.

God has made me unique, and I do believe in that. With no hesitation.

As you believe to be one of those 7% in the world who thinks they're beautiful, let's stand up and tell other people that we are, everyone is! :)

But as we believe, let's use that thought in our own good way. :)

I am a daddy's girl and an only girl in the family, my dad teases me alot and says im the most beautiful girl because i'm his only daughter. haha!

My mom says im beautiful and she loves my eyes so much because it's the same as my dad's and she liked dad because of his eyes <3.. aww. Im glad i was of his resemblance hehe <3

My eldest bro says im the most beautiful girl, because well yea, im the only girl here.. haha!

And my little bro, yes, just the same as my dad and eldest bro, hehe hope he stays youngggggg!! I love him very much :)

My boyfriend, well...that's automatic!!! I'm the most beautiful girl in his eyes he said. hahaha! i cannot argue with that. kidding haha!

My bestfriend also says she likes my eyes so much :)..

My boy- friends say they love my eyes and my smile .. well aw.. :) (hi boyfie, don't be mad hehe)

My girlfriends ( true ones yes,) say im beautiful... hahaha ( i was like, I know!.. kidding haha )

I was even compared with my beautiful cousin ones, they said we were both beautiful but with our own asset :)..

But whatever other people say, with my confidence and contentment with who I am and who'll I be, no one could bring me down.

Let's just stay positive through it all, cuz i know, something more than what we have lays ahead of us! :)

I love God and my parents for making me this unique and beautiful! I am proud of myself, I am beautiful indeed! :)

  9. Most of my friends tell me I'm the most patient, humble and simplest girl they met. Patience for me is a very nice attitude. Humble for me means being down to earth. I'm really a simple person because even the corniest jokes, I can easily laugh, I'm easily grateful with the simple things and I love people around me to just be happy.

The three characteristics for me makes me feel beautiful because people remembers me for being one of those. I'm so blessed with these compliments which makes my inner beauty shine more.

I truly believed that #RealBeauty starts from within. Thank you for this wonderful article Miss Nikki, it makes us more beautiful and confident with ourselves. God bless you and more powers!

  10. I guess this is the perfect timing reading your post.
    a short intro:
I just had a chat with a guy friend and we talked about being a girl (since I'm only 18).
He told me that I need to push on whitening my skin, kasi daw
    1. COLOR is POWER
    2. walang PANGIT SA MAPUTING BALAT
    3. PAG PUMUTI KA BEBENTA KA PROMISE
    i was like: SERIOUSLY DUDE?!
Because of disappointment,I just went straight to my inbox to read e-mails and I found this timely topic.

I have seen the part of you from the beginning of the dove campaign and I already stumbled with their beauty patch ad in YT.And I also believe in you ^_^

Well you see, I felt down coz I'm the average morena type. I am not offended with the choice of words but I was offended because even though he is not directly saying it to me, it looks like he is questioning skin and my other flaws knowing that he is my friend. We all have different perspectives and maybe this is an example of his view. I respect it but then again, I object. I realized that I should not be affected of what he has said because real beauty comes from within us. Outer appearance is just a plus.

Even though I have the looks (not that ugly either) ,I am not here to be a model, which is I think his' "so called perspective " is incorrect. That there is no need to be affected about it and just ignore and let it slip away. Instead I should believe more in myself, let these flaws be a tool to become a more beautiful lady. I will prove to him that his perspective is wrong. Can't he see Ms. Venus Raj? Is she fair skinned? NO. But from what is inside her heart. her advocacy and dedication as a woman makes her way moooore beautiful!

Maybe he is not a real friend, because my REAL friends always says that I'm beautiful because, I'm a child of God, because I'm a good daughter to my parents, I don't step other people down, I help those who are in need, I can sing, I have passion in evrything I do, etc.

Now, i consider myself beautiful not only because of what they have complimented me but because of my realization that I AM ME! and I love it!

That's it and thank you for this wonderful post! So much feels and empowering at the same time <3

I always get this from my friends, "Chubby pero sexy", or "Matabang may hitsura". Whenever they say this, i always think, pano nangyari yon? Chubby nga e, tapos naging sexy? It's opposing! But then again, I was able to realize that I was exuding self confidence and the belief that I am somehow beautiful, despite me being chubby or fat or old... After reading the write-ups of bloggers who attended the Dove summit, this really reinforced my belief that yes, I am beautiful no matter what they say :D

I gained a lot of weight since I gave birth. My self confidence and self esteem became super duper low. As in ayoko na lumabas ng bahay. Pero my husband said na I should love myself and that he loves me no matter what my weight is. So I came out of my shell. I always get the compliment na "Kahit mataba ka, maganda ka pa rin". And they say that I don't look like my age.#RealBeauty #IamBeautiful #RealBeautywithAMW
