How To Keep Your Skin From Looking Dry and Fake after Foundation Application

Hi AMW Friends!  Happy Monday!  I am off for a talk with Philippines' top company and I can't wait to share you all about it when I get the chance!  As for now, you may follow me on Instagram (@AskMeWhats) as I will definitely update my status there!

It is Monday, you're probably too lazy to get up and even lazier to do your makeup!  I mean who int he world would even use liquid or cream foundation on a hot and crazy weather like here in the Philippines?

A tip for you especially commuters out there, well, you can actually do your makeup when you arrive in the office!  Let me know if you want me to share some tips on Office Makeup!

And another tip I may share is that, you can actually use your favorite liquid or cream foundation without looking like you have a fake mask, or worst, when they create flakes up close!  That's a huge NO-NO especially if you have a client meeting or a Monday morning meeting with the boss!

Today, I have created a very simple yet effective tutorial on how to keep your skin from looking dry and fake after foundation application!  You only need to add one product in between!  Are you ready?

Step 1:
As usual, pick your favorite foundation!  Please keep in mind to choose the foundation based on not only the shade that suits you but also the foundation type that would match your skin condition!  Example, if you have oily skin, go for foundations that are oil-free!  If you have combination skin, it may help to use 2 types of foundations!  And lastly, if you have dry skin, pick a moisturizing foundation!

Step 2: Add this Step!

The first "concentrate" that I've tried is from Kiehl's called the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate  (review HERE).  As seen on my past review, this concentrate is lightweight, gets absorbed into the skin in no time and best of all?  It gives me the glow without the oily-look!

Priced at Php2,880.00
available at Kiehl's Stores

If you're on a budget, I recently discovered another lightweight serum that can be mixed with foundation!  The Burt's Bees Radiance Serum with Royal Jelly!

Priced at Php1,450.00
Available online

Both products are good enough as long as they work for your skin!  Both products mentioned works for ALL skin types!

Add a drop of the concentrate or serum as shown on photo below!  You may start adding only a little as adding too much may totally change the texture of your foundation!

Step 3:
You may choose to apply your "mixture" with your clean fingers, foundation brush or in my case, my favorite Beauty Blender or Nippon Pro Blend Sponge (damp).

I like to apply using damp sponge with a dabbing motion to "keep the moisture in" at the same time, setting the product to remove excess "oil" or "grease".

Since this author has dry skin, I can actually get away by dusting a translucent powder only at the center of my face leaving the dry areas as it is!  If you have oily skin, feel free to set all over your face with your favorite oil control powder and guess what?  The lovely, natural-glow will shine through and the great news?  Your foundation will never flake or look fake for the rest of the day!
