When You Wish For A Marker To Line Your Eyes...

Note from AMW: This product is discontinued but you can still see this available in some stores.  Just in case, there's a Superstar DUO which cost around Php400.00 that you can try!

You may want to check out L'Oreal Super Liner Superstar.  It is a pen-type liquid liner with a marker-like flexible tip making it easy to create a line without much movement from the brush.

I personally do not have issues using ANY liquid liners to date, that because, I had enough practice for the past 10 years!  Yes girls, I've been there, I've done it!  When I was just starting out on makeup, one of the most unforgettable moment was when I poked my eye with a liquid liner brush and the whole white of my eyes turned black and I was freaking out!  (More on freaking out and forgetting the pain!)

Consider the fact that I have steady hands, I was just too eager to line my eyes I poked the brush directly onto my eye.  That was several years ago but I can never forget that moment.

So when the Blog AskMeWhats was born, I make it a point to write thoroughly, explain everything for both amateurs and professionals, because at some point, we started somewhere.

When I saw this pen, I knew I had to write about it because this is very easy to work with.  Still scary because you have this inkling feeling of drawing your eyes using a marker pen but it's worth giving it a shot!

Felt Tip Liner

As much as I always say "NO" to felt tip liners because they tend to be harsh to the lids, the L'Oreal Super Liner Superstar has a flexible tip making this whole brush-like felt-tip move around as you try to create a perfect line.

Swatch: Black
It was a scary-looking swatch for me as the ink tends to "scatter" and create a small "splash" on the edges.  How would my liner look?  Will it smudge?

Thankfully NO.  I get a full black semi-matte (as it has a bit of a glossy finish) effect in just a single application.

See?  No blotchy edges, it's just a nice glossy finish!
This is also a perfect liner to use when you plan to line the bands of your false lashes to hide the glue!

Before and After
Also a nice liner pen to use to create a thick winged liner look!

Please keep in mind that this pen isn't meant to be used for tightlining and not even meant to be applied on the lower lashline or waterline.  This is just a perfect liquid liner pen to use for people on-the-go, who wanted definition on the eye area minus the extra brush, the possible smudging of a pencil and a difficult-to-manage liner brush.

As for pigmentation, you can see that it is extremely good, people with hooded eyelid may experience a bit of smudging so you have to test it out.  As for my lids, this works and stayed for the whole day (until makeup removal)

Now on to the downside, I felt like Makeup Giants like L'Oreal and Maybelline tend to discontinue products (even the great ones) anytime!  I can't seem to find this liner pen in ALL L'Oreal counters.  I tried to search online but to no avail, they don't offer such product anymore.  Do let us know if you find the same pen by commenting on the branch!

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  1. I have small lid space and I feel more comfortable using brush end tip more than felt tip but, sometimes it ia good to try it anyway.

  2. I have hooded lids so the struggle in doing a winged or cat eye is real. Maybe practicing everday helps? even I'm nowhere to go..lol!
