Whenever I do workshops, the most requested tutorial is "How to apply eyeshadow quickly?"
It is a question and request I want to tackle on because I kind of perfected the simple, quick and easy eyeshadow application for so many years! (Thank goodness I"m lazy!) :P
Would you believe that you can actually define and contour the eye area with just a single shadow? If you get a small, nifty eyeshadow duo like this from Essence, things will even be easier and you get an additional highlight for the eyes!
Yes, we contour and highlight the eyes!
Essence Contouring Eyeshadow Set
Shade: Roses Meet Mahogany
contour the eyes! the eyeshadow duo offers two perfectly aligned shades for contouring the eyes. easier than ever thanks to the step-by-step instructions!
Product description
Swatch:
top: highlight
bottom: contour
Pick the contour shade with a clean eye blending brush and gently apply on the inner socket. If you don't know the exact location on where to apply this particular shade, use the handle of your brush and gently press the area, the area that pushes back is the exact area you apply the contour shade. In easier terms, apply this a little bit above the crease area to create a fake "depth".
Apply layer after layer, add as you move forward. It is easier to add pigments than subtract.
If you can't imagine what I was trying to say, here's the quickest way to show you how to "contour". Press the brush a bit and "insert" the contour powder on the eye socket as shown on photo below.
The highlight powder is very easy to apply, just use the backside of the brush or any clean brush, gently dab the product at the center of your lid as shown on photo below.
You can actually skip this step if you like really subtle-looking eyeshadow.
Don't forget to apply both contour and highlight powder on the lower lashline.
Apply your choice of liner and voila! Quick and easy made-up eyes!
Overall, the Essence Contouring Eyeshadow Set is really easy to use especially for first-timers. Since the contour product is not 100% matte, blending won't be an issue and the effect is more natural than matte shadows.
If you have oily lids, I prefer you use an eyeshadow primer as the powder will disappear midday without one. As for me, I have dry lids so I can actually get away without using any shadow base.
That's it! Very quick and easy contoured eye makeup!
Do you have other brands of eyeshadow duos you think would work just as well?
Happy skin eyeshadow works for me too.
