Pink Sugar Our Lil' Secret All Day Matte Powder Review

As a Beauty Blogger and Professional Make Up Artist, I always advice my students, trainees and beauty-loving friends to always use Powder Foundation to set their makeup for full coverage and use powder to retouch for the whole day!

What's the difference between a Powder Foundation and a Powder?
Powder foundation has more coverage while powder is there just to set everything, lessen shine and keep everything in place minus the added coverage.  So no need to belt out those Chinese Opera whenever you pile on face powders because they are as natural as you first applied your makeup in the morning!

No matter what they say about Korean glow-y skin, every Filipinas I talk to wanted their skin to be matte especially in our weather!  So I am not surprised Pink Sugar came up with several shades of their Our Lil' Secret All Day Matte Powder and I tested this product and here's what I have to say.

AMW says ---

Pros
  • Ingredients clearly printed.
  • packaged in a regular-sized face powder, slim and easy to tote along.
  • For a face powder, this does not only "set" your makeup but it gives light to light medium coverage.
  • Skin looks fresh after application.
  • Lessens certain red spots, even out skin tone.
  • No allergic reactions.
  • Love the continuation of the "Our Lil' Secret" range, they come with liquid foundation and concealer so you can complete the full range.
  • Mattifies yet non-drying.
  • For someone with normal/dry skin, I only apply this once in the morning and retouch once in the afternoon and I'm good to go.

Cons
  • Packaging, I'm not sure why this product does not come with a mirror and sponge.  But it doesn't bother me since I love to use brush in applying face powder, some may find this a huge con.
  • Dark complexion Filipinas may find the shade choices to be lacking.

Overall
A great mattifying powder that helps set makeup with a good amount of coverage.

Tips
  • Best used with a brush for setting.
  • Use a sponge if coverage is needed.
  • Always use this product dry and never wet it.
  • Best to be used with patting and dabbing motion if used with a brush.
  • If user have dry skin, spritz on moisturizing spray and let it dry before you retouch your powder.
  • If user have oily skin, use oil-control blotter and remove excess oil before application.

Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Those who love to retouch their makeup several times a day!  This powder is great as it does not change the color of your makeup at the same time the effect is very natural.

Where to purchase and how much?
I can't find the product on website but they came in Bundle last sale season with the other Our Lil' Secret range for Php599.00.  Will update if I get the price of this product.

Swatch: Medium Beige
Medium Beige is the darkest among the 3 but this is actually a perfect shade for me with the right yellow undertone that works for my very warm complexion.

I like to use a flat top kabuki brush if I want to set my liquid foundation/cc creams or if I want to use to set any of my base makeup.

If used alone, without any base makeup on, I like to use a sponge as it gives more coverage.  Keep in mind that the sponge has to be dry.

Before and After
See how everything is mattified yet natural-looking?  I also like how this product has an ample amount of coverage to even out my skin tone lessening the look of redness on some areas.
