Benefit Roller Liner Eyeliner Review

I've worked with Benefit a couple of times for workshops.  One thing you'll always hear from me is: "When will you guys come up with a liquid liner?"

They always give me back that mysterious look: "Soon".

And that "soon" came latter part of 2018.  Though it was crazy busy month for me, I had to be there to witness the unveiling of Benefit's Roller Liner Eyeliner.

I had to put all my liners to rest and test this out for a month!  Let me break it down for you.

Housed in a pen type liquid liner, you don't have to worry about twisting or clicking as the marker-type pen just dispense the right amount of product once you use the brush.

Since we're on to the topic of the brush, the brush is longer making it easier to maneuver.  Aside from that, the brush is precise and sharp making it easy to create thick or thin line, best of all, the sharp tip makes it extra easy to create a winged liner look.

Swatch:

To see is to believe, see how I can easily do curves too?

The color is extremely matte and it is highly pigmented.  In that department, Benefit definitely nailed it!

Application:
Using the side of the brush, I do stamping method and connect the lines and guess what?  I don't have to go through the brush on the same area as pigmentation is even and precise.

So we're only left with our steady hands a whole lot of practice to create a nice line!  I always like to start with thin line and thicken as I go on.  If you have hooded lids like I do, it is best not to pile up a lot of layers as this liner tends to smudge midday.

Yes, since we're on the topic of smudging, this liner works and stays for regular eyelids.  BUT, for hooded eyelids and very oil lidded individuals, this may smudge a bit so I am still trying my best to find ways to make it work.

As of the moment, I found out that using this thinly (1 layer is enough) and it won't smudge even with hooded lids.  If you pile a lot of the pigment on one eye, then that's when the problem arises.  So keep in mind to use eyelid primer just to be sure if you have oily and hooded lids and set with a translucent powder for that extra protection.

I can't and won't blame the brand, if you have hooded lids, all types and kinds of liners will definitely smudge, so this is a friendly way of saying: "Make sure to bring wipes or eye makeup remover and maybe spend an extra time in retouching your eyeliner midday!"

But the effect is a winner for me!  One of the most pigmented, dark black liner that I've used to date.  Definitely appears like I used gel liner!  I love the ease of application and I love how it defines my eyes like Cleopatra!

Do I recommend this?
Yes, definitely!  You just have to practice your application and of course, you have to test it out before wearing this to important events just to make sure it won't smudge on you.  Keep in mind that it does not smudge to fellow hooded lids wearer so it really depends.
