Midweek Special: Graham Sylvanas Recipe

I am not a "sweets" person, the list of my favorite desserts are less than my 10 fingers and none of them are the super sweet ones!

One dessert me and my brother loved to share are Sylvanas.  We would "gift" each other 2-3pcs of Sylvanas way back when we were still students because we are "on a budget".  You know how pricey these little piece of heaven could get.

Fast forward to today, as I am starting to be back with my "cooking grind" (Hello Kyle Nash on 1st Grade!), my food planning and preparation skills went "topnotch"!  - in my dictionary anyways.  So when I got myself some M.Y. San Grahams goodies, I quickly planned for a Mango Graham Cake because I LOVE mangoes!  Unfortunately, ripe mangoes aren't in season so I went for Graham Sylvanas as this is one of my few favorite desserts!  I didn't pick this at first because feeling ko ang hirap gawin!

Hindi naman pala!

So are you ready to see my step-by-step "Photo-torial" on how I created this yummy dessert?

Ingredients:

  • 9pcs / 100 grams M.Y. San Honey Grahams
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh milk
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped cashew
  • 1 cup M.Y. San Crushed Grahams
Step 1: FILLING

In a bowl, whisk softened butter until creamy.

Add powdered sugar and continue whisking until well combined.  This step needs some arm exercise but take your time!

When you see this wonderful soft and fluffy texture, move on to the next step...

Gradually whisk in milk,

And add 2 tablespoons of chopped cashews.  At this stage, I was licking my fingers tasting my yummy Sylvanas' filling.  I like it when it's homemade because I can control the sweetness!

Step 2: CRUMB MIXTURE
Make crumb mixture by mixing M.Y. San Crushed Grahams with the remaining cashews.

Mix everything together and set aside.

Step 3: ASSEMBLE

Cut M.Y. San Honey Grahams along the dotted lines.  Get 1 cracker and spread butter on one side and place another cracker on top like how you would do with a sandwich.  I highly suggest you "chill" the filling first so it will be easier to assemble.

Gently press as shown on photo below.  If you want thicker filling, go ahead and add more!

Using a spatula, cover all sides of the M.Y. San Honey Grahams with the same butter cream filling.

DUNK and DIVE!
This step I really enjoy! If you are into cooking and frying, this step is similar to wrapping everything with "Bread crumbs" before frying.  For this recipe, you can simply cover M.Y. San Grahams with M.Y. San Crushed Grahams!  This would give that nice texture.

You can actually make more than 9 Graham Sylvanas, we made more or less 15-18 pcs (I lost count as we were eating along the way!)

Set aside and chill before serving!

Done in less than 30 minutes making more than 15pcs of Graham Sylvanas costing approximately Php10.00 each piece, this is worth it!

I also like it that this is turning out to be a family bonding activity!  You don't see it on photos but we were all enjoying the process eating, playing and just having fun while we do this yummy recipe!  It does not look this picture perfect to be honest, but the memories of family bonding is perfect enough!

M.Y. San Grahams are available in Honey, Chocolate and Crushed!  I can't wait to try out other recipes available in the M.Y. San Grahams recipe book!
