A Breathe Of Fresh Air at Green Canyon Leisure Farms

I have always been on a lookout for a nice family "staycation".  Whether it could be just within Metro Manila or a few hours away from the city.

Why?

Because I have extremely busy schedule traveling for long period of hours is considered a waste of precious time for me!  I'd rather travel 2-3  hours 1 way and spend the rest of the time enjoying some nice activities with the family.

That said, Green Canyon Leisure Farms located at Clark Pampanga fits the bill!

It was also perfect timing since it is Kyle's SEM break and me and my husband's 12th year Anniversary!  I accepted the invite without much hesitation and preparation and just let our senses lead the way!

Green Canyon Leisure Farms is a nature getaway and a relaxing destination. The resort is a sustainable environment that offer its guests to explore and find themselves outside with nature. Conveniently located just north outside of Manila, guests can spend quality time with families and groups of friends — with the resort's facilities, beautiful landscape and amenities to help them de-stress and shed off the clutter of the busy week.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a guard who got all our information and ID before letting us in.  Security is very strict in this resort which we appreciate a lot!  Upon parking the car near the gate, a golf car was there with Resort Staff willing to lend us a helping hand with our luggage!  I appreciate the hospitality of the staffs and Kyle enjoyed his first cart ride!

Check-in was a breeze.  We were booked a Villa King Room good for 2 Adults and a Kid.

The room is spacious and has good light coming from the windows.  King size bed isn't the same King size bed you get from International Hotels but I find this is still good enough for a family of 3.

Kyle got comfortable immediately and rested on the bed upon arrival!

You get basic necessities inside the room.  There's a flat screen TV with Satellite/cable (Thank God for Disney Channel and Cartoon Network!).  A huge mirror, a table and chair and a single couch!

Just like us, if you need extra head, a single "mattress" can fit comfortably, all you need to do is to request or tell the hotel staffs beforehand.

You also get bathroom amenities - toothbrush, toothpaste, towels and you also get 2 free bottles of water to go with it.

For coffee-lover like me, you may need to bring your own instant coffee drink and maybe request for hot water since they don't offer this like most hotels in the Metro.  (Keep in mind that this is a Resort Hotel so not all Hotel amenities you see in the Metro will also be seen here!)

On a side note, what I appreciate a lot from Green Canyon Leisure Farms is the fact that they care for the environment.  Shampoo and Body washe can be found in a dispenser!  You can find 2 at the bathroom - 1 for handwash and another 1 for shower.

If you like to hang your clothes, there is a clothes' rack but you may need to request for hangers as we found none in the room!

Now let me take you out of the room and explore with us!  This is a guide for parents with kids because everything we did here at Green Canyon is based from my son's liking!  And it seems like he found his place immediately at Anahaw Pool!

We took a dip immediately and the weather was perfect and timing was right as it was almost sunset!

Anahaw Pool is the regular pool you will see in other hotels and resorts.  I like how there is a lifeguard around who continuously clean the pool with a net.  This pool is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm so we actually enjoyed a sunset swim minus the harsh sun!

The middle area of the pool is around 4 ft which is perfect for families with kids!  They also have 2 ft. area for first time swimmers and if your kids are adventurous, they can borrow inflatables from the Resort as well.

And here's what sets Green Canyon Leisure Farms apart --- WAVE POOL!

This is for the adventure seeker!  We actually saw how this huge ball at the center of the pool can create gorgeous looking waves - not just gorgeous, challenging to swimmers type of waves so this is really perfect for those who are good swimmers!

And guess what?  This place is not just for families, it could be for "Barkada bonding" as well with the presence of Pool Tables!  Well-maintained and clean!  You only need to ask the staff present there to help you out!

Look at Kyle's cute li'l face!

This game of course isn't the serious type!  We just let Kyle play how he wants the game to be played!  In his eyes, these are Planet balls so yes, it has be from Mercury to Neptune! :P

We ended the rest of the day by checking out the place.  With a brief talk with the Hotel Staffs, I learned that Green Canyon Leisure Farms has been around for 24 years.  The place is well maintained and as you can see if you walk around the Farm, there are several constructions going on meaning, the resort is doing everything they can to improve their facilities.

With some added info from the resort server, I also learned that there's a lot of Wedding Ceremonies going on and a lot of Photoshoot and Videoshoot!  I am not surprised since the place is 100% picture perfect!  No matter what type of camera you use, even as simple as a mobile phone camera, you'll come up with good looking photos as the whole place is photogenic!

On to the next day, we had our breakfast at the Restaurant.

The restaurant itself seems very serene.  You get to see a nice pond with colorful fishes!  It was so relaxing to have breakfast while enjoying a view.

The breakfast served was basic, you get scrambled eggs, Tocino and Adobong Manok.  I'm sure the breakfast menu changes daily but what we had was filling.

Of course, if you want to taste other dishes, you may look into their menu and order A La Carte.

Thankfully, they serve unli Coffee and Juice in the morning.  After 3 cups, I'm ready to take the day!

But first, a photo op at this gorgeous view!  We took a while just to relax and enjoy the scenery while Kyle finishes his food!  *laughs*

After resting, we took the rest of the hours before check-out to explore the resort.  I took a peek at Green Canyon Leisure Farm's Instagram page and saw a "Hanging Bridge".  We asked the waiter immediately on the location and decided to have a quick walk there.

Across the hanging bridge, you will find a simple "Garden".  We were told there wasn't much to see because it isn't "in season" yet.

For us from the city, it is a great experience to teach my son basic plants, fruits and vegetables using first hand experience.

It doesn't hurt to stop and smell the flowers.

And maybe run away from the "Bee" after taking this shot!
P.S. Yes, I was pointing a bee then Kyle ran! :P

We just took a quick stroll and went back to the hotel room, wash up and bid goodbye to a nice experience.

Of course, no stay is perfect in every place we go!  I've seen some points that can be improved ---
  • We wish the hotel staff or receptionist would offer us the "activities" anyone can do upon arrival so we know what to expect.  Ex. Free activities to do like Hike, walk around the hanging bridge, swim, etc... and offer paid activities such as Mt. Pinatubo Day Trip, etc...
  • The room says FREE WIFI but Husband and I can't connect to our Wifi network, we asked for help but no one seems to know what to do.  Thankfully, it wasn't a biggie since Mr. AMW has his own Internet connection.  The problem is the place does not have signal for Smart network, so if you need to contact someone, it could be a problem if WIFI failed on you.
Other than that, everything else seems to be running smoothly!  Our air-condition from the room suddenly emitted a very foul chemical smell late at night and we contacted the staff at 11pm and they graciously helped us transfer room while helping us transfer our belonging as well!  Kudos to them for thinking and acting fast!

And that's not all, we love to randomly talk to hotel staffs and all of them have stories to tell and are very friendly and easy-going!  I guess if you are from a city and expect CITY service, do not expect the same kind of service you get from the city as everyone is laid back down here.  I don't mind the chill attitude of the staffs because we are there for a common goal - to chill too!

Would I recommend this place?

YES OF COURSE!  But keep in mind that this is located a bit out of the city proper so if you or your family wanted to visit malls or restaurants OUTSIDE the vicinity, be prepared to travel at least 30 minutes by car, and the place gets to be really dark at night so good driving skills is also needed!

As for overall experience, we had so much fun!  We appreciates the kind attitude of the staff and the tight security!  And obviously, you can see it in our photos that this is not only a great bonding experience, this is also a great place to relax and unwind before we head back to a crazy life once again!
