NARS Claudette Audacious Lipsticks Review

“Drawn from nostalgi and the spirit of the 1970s Paris Rive Gauche, each pattern and boldly wearable shade paints an intimate portrait of unapologetic style.”

This statement fits NARS The Claudette Collection.  This is a limited collection inspired by Claudette - inimitable Mother and Muse to Fracois Nars.

Cardboard packaging looks to same at a glance but once you go to the lipstick bullet itself, you’ll know the difference - Audacious Sheer Matte in Red magnetic packaging while Audacious Matte  in Black.  Simple design with stars and hearts but they scream classy!  

NARS Audacious Sheer Matte Lipstick

Shade: Berenice

This is a red-orange lipstick with warm undertone.  Coverage is buildable and can be applied sheer to powdery matte.

I can apply only a layer or 2 to create blurred lips effect!  The color looks strong but can be natural-looking if applied sparingly!  

I love how it made my skin looks fresh and glowing because of the warm undertone (yes, warm undertone lippies works well on me!)

NARS Audacious Sheer Matte Lipstick

Shade: Anouk

This is a brighter lip color as compared to Berenice.  Looks mauve pink on swatch but hailed as deep coral red by others!  This has more of an opaque coverage as compared to the earlier one I used.

This is my go-to lip color if I wanted to look made-up without using much make up!  You know this will look really pretty on photos because your whole face pops without looking too made up!

The texture is velvet matte.  It is also lightweight and has a velvety texture.  I love how it glides on my dry lips without appearing dry!  Both Sheer Matte locks in moisture but it stays for approximately 2-3 hours before reapplication is needed.  It starts to fade around the center of my lips from eating and drinking.

NARS Audacious Matte Lipstick

Shade: Ginette

A deep burgundy lip color with a different finish.  This is a cream finish lipstick with more shine.  

Lips appear plump, hydrated and it does look matte after a couple of hours but it looks like this on first application.

See how to shine disappears a bit?  If you like instant matte, I blot it with tissue and clean the edges as the color tends to move as it is very hydrating!  Since the color is quite dark, it is best to use a lipliner brush in application for clean, defined lips!

Overall, these limited edition lipsticks from NARS The Claudette Collection are worth the splurge!  The colors and textures are unique and comfortable to wear!  The shades are very wearable even for those who aren’t used to wearing colorful lipsticks! 

If you ask me, I prefer Sheer Mattes becaues I can easily apply it sparingly or heavily depending on my mood!  You all know I love multi-tasking products!  And oh!  Did I mentioned they work well on cheeks too?
