Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ Review

Happy Monday AMW friends!  How was your weekend?  My weekend turned out really well amidst my morning sickness!  I was able to attend our 15th year high school reunion plus the birthday party of my friend's cute daughters!  It was fun catching up with great friends!

Now let me share to you the sun block that I have been using months ago even before I got pregnant!  My Doctor advised me its okay to use my skincare regimen (as I don't use any whitening or acne treatment products).  With Doctor's go signal, I find myself pushing most of my "scented" skincare products away as my nose get really sensitive!

I may share to everyone my pregnant skin and makeup regimen in the future but I'm thanking the heavens above that I don't need to give up my face sun block!  The Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense sun block  is fragrance-free!

Weekend Food Tripping at: Yoogane

One of the many unforgettable restaurants I've tried in Korea is called Yoogane!  It was random walking when we suddenly saw the familiar restaurant sign which I get to know about base on my research prior to Seoul Trip!

The experience was wonderful!  And after a nice dinner at Il Terrazzo for my dad's birthday, Keith and I were both excited to see Yoogane sign!  Fast forward to a couple of weeks, we've decided to give this restaurant a visit together with my family (this time, for my brother's birthday)!  The restaurant has "Soft Opening" written at the front door but that didn't stop us from giving this restaurant a try!

Free appetizers

Yoogane's Marinated Chicken Galbi
Php210.00 (approx $4.90)

Their bestselling Chicken Galbi is a bit different in taste as the ones we had in Korea.  Nevertheless, the taste is as good!  Spicy Chicken strips mixed with various vegetables.  Bear in mind that the marinate are fixed, you can't request for levels of spiciness!

 Char-grilled Chicken Galbi
Php220.00 (approx $5.10)
The look is almost the same as Yoogane's Marinated Chicken Galbi but this one is a bit more flavorful and has more spice!  The chicken are very tender.

Marinated Chicken Galbi and Assorted Seafood
Php240.00 (approx $5.60)
To be honest, all 3 dishes ordered can be mixed all together as the sauce all tastes the same!  Since we just wanted to check out if there's any difference amongst the dishes, we've decided to have them separated.  But overall, I'm not complaining, the meat are all cut in think slices which permits the marinade to penetrate into the meat making each bite bursting with flavors and spices.

Grilled Pork Belly Strips
Php180.00 (approx $4.18)
I'm not a fan of anything with fats visible to the naked eyes but this one is a winner!  The Grilled Pork Belly Strips was mistakenly put on our table but it was a wonderful  mistake as we ended up ordering another!

This would even be more perfect if wrapped on fresh lettuce!  Yummy!

Beef Bulgogi
Php220.00 (approx $5.12)
Because my poor dad can't handle any spicy food, we ordered separate dish for him that's "fire-tongue" safe!  The Beef Bulgogi is a cooked marinated meat using a grill.
Thin slices of beef were marinated to enhance its flavor also making the beef tender on each bite!  Overall, the dish is worth ordering!

Free Yakult to save your burning tongue at the end of the meal!

Overall, I can't complain about the service as "Soft Opening" sign was written at the doorway, but I would love it more if service will be quicker in the future as we have to wait for at least 15 minutes for each dish to arrive, which in turn, made our rice cold!  The ambiance is really good and perfect for group of friends and family!  I hope the restaurant could accommodate more than 4 individuals on each table as most tables are good for 4!

The restaurant accepts cash and credit card.  Service fee is included in the bill.

Thanks Maven Magazine for the Feature!

I was contacted by Eric, the managing editor of the women's bi-monthly magazine called Maven a couple of months ago to feature me on their "Status Update" section.

It was a Q&A portion that I originally thought was exciting enough to have my tiny voice printed out on glossies!  Then came August-September "Maja Salvador" issue.

Mr. AMW immediately bought me my own copy and I started scanning the magazine starting from the back (as I originally thought it would be somewhere at the back portion.) and imagine the excitement when I was AskMeWhats was actually featured full page!

Please buy your own company of August-September issue as I talk about my favorite products, beauty tricks and my blog!

Thank you so much Maven Magazine for making my "I didn't know it was a dream of mine" dream came true!

AMW Reviews: Penshoppe Mirage Aqualiner Pencils

Happy Thursday AMW friends!  First of all, I want to thank everyone for the well wishes.  Mr. AMW, myself and li'l AMW are grateful to have cyber friends like you!  I do feel the love and support although I haven't met most of you! :)

Now, let's get back to beauty talk for now so it'll take me away from all the nausea even for a bit! :)

Colored pencils have always been a not-so-secret of mine to create a "full made-up" look without the effort.  On days I'm in a hurry and I don't have time to blend, well, especially these past few days that I'm too lazy to do anything on my eyes, I prefer to pick a nice colored eye pencil and line it either on the upper lash line or lower lash line for an instant pop!  And it works!

When Penshoppe came up with their inexpensive line of makeup, my heart fluttered when I got all 3 Mirage Aqualiner Pencils to test!  These reminded me so much of my favorite NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils.

Celeste (White)

Nymph (Teal)

 Royale (Purple)
Penshoppe says ---
Mirage Aqualiner Pencil, a handy and easy-to-apply eyeliner pencil, has the perfect smooth glide to color the lash lines all the way. With three lively variants to choose from—Celeste (white), Nymph (teal) and Royale (purple)— Mirage Aqualiner Pencil promises an eye-popping look to highlight the most striking area of your face.

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Pencil, easy to bring anywhere for touch-ups.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Color pay-off is good.
  • Can be used as eyeshadow base or eyeliner.  The Celeste (white) shade can be used as highlighter.
Cons
  • Smudges especially on oily-lidded individuals.
  • You have to find the right size of sharpener to be able to sharpen these pencils.
Overall
Good pigmentation.  Inexpensive.  Needs primer to prevent smudging.

Tips
  • Use an eye primer prior to usage to prevent aqualiners from smudging or transferring.
  • Feel free to use them as eyeshadow base to make the eyeshadow appear more vibrant.
  • Sharpen the aqualiner  every now and then if you want to create a defined line.
  • If the pencils hardened and felt rough on your sensitive lids, blow-dry the tip of the pencil for 3-5 seconds, wait for a couple of seconds for the pencil to cool then apply on lids as usual.  The pencil will be creamier and less tugging is needed.
Will I repurchase?
No, these 3 shades are enough, not unless they come up with more shades!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who loves colored eye pencils and are on the budget!

Where to purchase and how much?
At Penshoppe stores for Php149.00 (approx $3.50) per piece.

Product Swatch
top to bottom: White, Teal and Purple

I used all 3 pencils on my eyes for a simple yet vibrant look.
Celeste (white) was used to highlight the browbone and inner corner of my eye.
Nymph  (teal) was used on my lower lashline but I made sure to apply my favorite Urban Decay Primer Potion on the area to prevent smudging.  Teal or anything bluish-green has always been my to-go-to shade to apply on my lower lashline for an instant pop without much eyeshadow.
Royale (purple) was used to apply on my inner crease area and I tapped a bit of a similar shadow shade to "set" the pencil.  Again, an eyeshadow primer was used to make this overall look to prevent smudging and transferring.

Which among the 3 Mirage Aqualiner Pencils caught your attention?
I would definitely go for Celeste (white) as it can be used as a nice highlighting tool!
