Askmewhats Reviews: TFS Natural Intensive Sun Cream SPF 50

I admit it! I always skipped on sunblock lotions/creams. I have read so much about putting on sunscreen to save your skin from the sun's harmful rays, and most of all, to save yourself from speeding up your aging process.

Shame on me, I am a beauty blogger, but I don't use sunscreen!

NOW IT'S THE MOMENT OF TRUTH...

I am getting older, I am aging, and I need look for the "fountain of youth". I was told it starts with Sunscreen! Then with eating healthily, exercising, drinking lots of fluid blah blah blah (list goes on). But I did mentioned SUNSCREEN right?

Against my will, I finally bought a tube of sunscreen. This is not my first though, years ago, I have used Neutrogena (which I haven't reviewed yet...will probably do that soon).

Now, it's time for me to show some TLC for Sunscreens!

To all sunscreens in the world...this post is for all of you...for being the protector of the universe...for being Superman! Batman, Iron man, Spiderman!

TFS Intensive Sun Cream SPF 50 says ---

High-level UVA/UVB sun protection in a long lasting cream formula.
Powerful sun shield blocks both UVA and UVB while the water and sweat resistant formula provides long lasting protection. Formulated with Pongamia Extract, a natural sun screen agent, Aloe and Sunflower seed extracts, it hydrates and nourishes skin to prevent sun damage to the skin. Nano sized particles go on evenly without lumping and leave skin feeling fresh.

Askmewhats says ---

Pros
  • lightweight
  • smells wonderful (light aloe, nothing too irritating)
  • easily absorbed by the skin
  • water (including perspiration) resistant
  • non greasy --- very important to me
  • can last for a long time as a little goes a long way
  • handy, packaging is sleek and nice, easy to carry around

Cons
  • with it's "matte" finish, people with dry skin would find this a bit too drying, not for me though, I always use a moisturizer underneath the sun cream
  • *surprised* NO MORE!

Overall

I have used TFS Sun Cream testers for quite some time, the original formula (which is white and green in packaging) is faced-out. I find this new formulation is better and not too drying. Though at first glance, it may be a bit too expensive for a sun cream, but compared ot other sun block lotions, this has higher SPF of 50 and one small tube definitely lasts a long time as the cream glides on easily on the skin.

Tip

If you have oily skin, they also have the Natural Intensive Sun Milk Cream, non-oil based, perfect for oily skin! Again, always give their tester a try first before buying anything. I went for their testers 2-3x and applied it on my cheek to test for allergies before I finally purchased this. Do not be shy to ask about samples (if needed) for you to be able to road test on the product before spending money for it!

Will I repurchase?
Yes.

What's your sunscreen brand?
Do you use sunscreen daily? no cheating at all?

  2. Great review! I haven't seen this product in the U.S., though. I'm currently using an SPF 30 sunscreen. I should probably up it up so I get more protection!

  5. No sunscreen till now?!?!?!?! Shame on you!!!! :P

I started wearing sunscreen religiously (because my mum is a nag) when I was 13.... and so I've tried out various sunscreens. For the last few years, my HG has been Mentholatum Sun Play. I like it's water-based, so it's non-greasy and absorbed into the skin easily.

I'm glad you found a sunscreen you like!

  10. Purple Snowflake, thanks, I have heard so much about Shiseido as their HG sunscreen, it's quite expensive here, so if I can have something that's cheaper and works well, I am willing to give it a try! lol I'll be the guinea pig :)

  11. oh i wish i had seen this before i got mine haha but it's okay because i lucked out :D

i purchased a different sunscreen because i think the one i used may have caused me to break out; & i wasn't going to take a chance to find out if it was that particular product so i just bought a new one altogether haha

i used neutrogena spf55 & so far it's working wonderfully for me
& like you i didn't always put sunblock on either, although my moisturizers DID contain spf if that counts for anything :)

  12. WOW. I'm glad you started using sunscreen. I'm a sunscreen freak so if I see anyone, I meant anyone...even if I don't know that person...who is not wearing sunscreen...I will scream the hell out of them!! YEP...bet ya I would. LOL. So I missed my chance at screaming at you! sigh~ :P

  14. Aireen, I'm sorry about the breakouts, that's why I don't use sunscreen too coz putting more products on my face would tend to make me breakout! I'm glad you found Neutrogena and I'm glad it works wonderfully for you :)

ebeautyblog, thank goodness you lost your chance on screaming at me!!! I would be scared!!! :D wow..you are a sunscreen freak huh? Lucky you, I would love to be one too! I think I can be one now coz TFS Sunscreen smells so good, aside from packaging, I am a sucker for scents!

beautyaddict1one1, glad that you don't cheat!!! Thumbs and toes up for you :)

  15. wow thanks for this review nikki...i'll check out the other one which is for oily skins like mine. i am guilty too of not putting on sunscreen everyday. i work at night and when i go out of the office around 9 or 10ish, i cant just make myself wash my face and apply sunscreen first before going home. yeah, i am lazy...and to think i don't even bring umbrella though its scorching hot outside. i only use sunscreen (obagi sunfader) if i am to go out during the day. so there :( sniff sniff

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jheng, yeah better check it out! But before you try it, you have to shake it really well, as the "for oily skinned" ones is in different bottle. Me too, I don't use umbrella and no sunscreen for me, thank goodness I got hit on the head and starts to wear sunscreen! go ka na din sis!

  17. ever since college, i have religiously applied sunscreen everyday. despite my oily skin (coz i didn't know there were non-oil based) i still continuously applied sunscreen. i heard that its one of the best gift you can gift your skin. seeing my aunts, i saw the effect of putting sunscreen compared to not applying it. My aunt has less wrinkles compared to the last time she was here.

and mom uses this product too! :)

  18. Shen, so are you still using sunscreen now? We should no? Grabe..I know I've been so lazy, i guess it has to do with the scent talaga, since I loved this TFS sunscreen scent, I'll use this na! :) And thanks to me 3 days straight with sunscreen! LOL

Hope Liz still checks this out... Very interested in the water based sunscreen. Does anyone know where Mentholatum Sun Play is available? :)
