Let's talk about contouring the face.
On normal days! I don't contour my face because I find this step "useless" (people who loves to contour, do not get angry at me for saying so! :P) as I am always in a hurry in the morning for work to contour my face and nose! But I haven't let go of the idea of owning a contour palette because it is actually a very important step to do if you're talking about make-up.
I am happy DollFace cosmetics included the Contour Palette! I've been eyeing this palette from Coastal Scents forever!

Pros
Cons
If you are planning to be a professional make-up artist, a contouring palette is a great addition to your collection. But if you plan to use a contour and highlighting powder to yourself, you can purchase one that matches your skin tone rather than the whole palette!
Tips
Not for now! This huge pan is enough to last me a lifetime!
Where can you purchase and how much?
At Dollface Cosmetics multiply for Php1,000 (approx $20.80)
Nos. 1 & 2 used as highlighter
Nos. 4 & 5 are contouring powders
Nos. 3 & 6 are blushers

Pros
- huge pan, same size as MAC powder. You get a lot of product
- pigmented
- travel friendly
- perfect for make-up professionals
- love the 2 blushes, the white shimmery powder as highlighter
- not all the colors are useful (for people who plan to purchase this for themselves)
- the dark Contour powder doesn't suit all skin tones to be a "contour" powder. I find the matte brown not pure brown but more on the reddish brown side which would look very obvious on my skin tone (this color works better for darker skin tone in contouring)
- it'll be perfect if one blush color is on the pinkish tone and the other one on peachy tone :)
If you are planning to be a professional make-up artist, a contouring palette is a great addition to your collection. But if you plan to use a contour and highlighting powder to yourself, you can purchase one that matches your skin tone rather than the whole palette!
Tips
- test on applying these powders using different brushes
- apply the contouring powder first , before you highlight to blend in the harsh line
- DO NOT drop the palette.... NEVER!
- try to mix and match the colors to find your "matching" shade

I've said it before and I'll say it again!
Contouring makes a huge difference especially on photos!
So make sure to practice contouring and blend them well!
We don't want streaks on our faces right?
Keep smilin'

ReplyDeletePaint me gorgeous, so true, I find that finding the right shade for contouring powder is really difficult for me :)
Prettybeautiful, yeah, if you're not into contouring, no need to contour everyday! :)
LyNn, so true, we need like real brown ..real dark brown :)
Maybe I should start learning how to contour...hahahha, my cheeks are getting chubbier by the day :-/
ReplyDeletethanks for the review Nikki! I love the 2 blush colors. Not sure though if the contour powders will work on my skintone.I think its too dark! =)
ReplyDeleteI never contour my face too lolz..except during big wedding party or something like that:P btw im trying to find your posts about make up brushes, I cant remember which one but I think it's philiphine's brand...
ReplyDeletethat looks like a very useful palette! thanks for the review :)
ReplyDeletethe blushes are pretty. maybe you can try mixing the lighter brown and the darker brown to get the right contour shade?
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking if I should get this palette, but the same with you Nikki, I'm always in a rush in the morning so I don't contour on a daily basis. =)

ReplyDeletegingerbee, no way! you are not chubby for sure! it's just your imagination girl :)
ReplyDeleteKhymm, it takes a lot of mix and match for sure, but the 2 blush powders are nice :)
Acutelife, so true, it's not always easy to contour for daily! I do contour on special occasions too! By the way, the Brushes brand you are referring to are called "SUESH Brushes" You can see them at the right side tag.
Connie, my pleasure :)
ReplyDeleteLily, I did try mixing them, but I'd love to have just one nice color for contouring :) No mixing needed :)
Jen, yes, do get this if you plan to study, or if you plan to do makeup on different people :)
iambeautiful20, no problem! I know what you mean about wanting to buy something you don't need, been there! LOL
ReplyDeleteSarah, yes, the 2 blush colors look wonderful on you for sure!
Miss Katin! I missed you! How have you been? Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for introducing this palette and the swatches! I think, it's a really nice and convenient palette.
ReplyDeleteBut I believe #5 would be ways too dark for my skintone. ;)
The palette is very pretty. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteOooh, the contouring powder has super red undertones! Thanks for bringing this palette to our attention!
ReplyDeletei really like the look of the contour colors in this. dunno bout the highlighters for me though, they look to light for me and the blush looks too bright :(
ReplyDeletethanks for reviewing this nikki coz i was really lemming the coastal scents one and now i'm not so sure. maybe if they sold the contour colors seperately that would be great.
i am eyeing on MUFE contour palette too. it's 2 colours but like yours, i am not so sure about the dark one...
ReplyDeleteand why are concouring palette all so BIG??? LOL
wow it looks like such good value!!
ReplyDeleteJess , you are right! there's a lot of colors that aren't useable for us! :) But great if you're doing makeup on others of course :)
ReplyDeleteGio, no worries, it's always my pleasure to share my reviews!
Blair, No problem, I know a lot of people wanted this but everyone deserves swatches!
Jo, the highlighters work well on me but not for the contour one! A bit too reddish for me, but great for darker skin!!!
ReplyDeletejojoba, I've seen the MUFE one too and it looks GREAT!!! :) You know what I found great about these powders? we can use them as setting powders for colored skin :)
Yumeko :) yes!
those blushes are so cute, love #3!
ReplyDeletei love to contour and highlight...using the right colors and technique it makes such a difference! but i'm too lazy during the day to wear makeup let alone contouring and highlighting, he he
ReplyDeleteFuz ! :) thanks, I like no. 3 too!
ReplyDeleteRenren, hahahah I saw you using this too! :) You're right about the laziness, me too!
