One brand that I've tried and surprised me is the Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation. My dear friend Beatrilicious have used this herself and I've seen how it works on her oily skin too! (Note: She is a MAC Powder Foundation user and she repurchased this after finishing one!)
The great thing about this mineral powder foundation is that this contains no preservatives, oils or fragrances and has SPF25/PA++. It uses triple refined micro-minerals which have been specially selected to their purity and quality to improve affinity to skin. Coverage will always be gentle and the skin is allowed to breathe. Skin that breathes means there's lesser chances for breakouts due to clogged pores.
In my experience, this works really well with normal to oily skin! Dry skin individuals like myself can still use this but preparing the skin with moisturizer prior to usage is still needed as to any powder foundation. This blends in your skin well and doesn't look cakey. Retouching may be needed but not as much.
Does not cause breakouts! I'm glad it's dermatology-tested and says to be safe for sensitive skin! The promise on improvement of the skin condition, I haven't seen it yet, but as long as there's no negative reaction on my skin? I'm okay with that!
It doesn't hurt that this comes with a cute K-Brush that's made in Japan, as I was told! Personally, it's not a bad "free K-brush" as it's non-scratchy and does not shed much. I find it just a bit too small though :) But for it's price, it doesn't matter.
How much is this foundation you ask? It's priced at Php599.00 (approx $13.00). If you plan to purchase, wait for Maybelline sales every now and then! Less 10%-20% will make your pocket happy! The happier your pocket, the happier your skin, the lesser the wrinkles! :) And the world works that way and you know that! *winks*
Here's Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation in Buff applied using free k-brush on a swirling motion.

Hi Nikki,
ReplyDeleteDoes it come in a lot of shades?
Ohhh a eureka moment!! I think that's such a fun title. XD I have such oily skin so I gotta check this out next time. Thanks for the review. :) <--- see I'm smiling!!
ReplyDeletenice! I don't think that they sell this in the USA... =[ Or maybe they sell some different version
ReplyDeleteim using this mineral foundation right now... and i admit, I have found my match... I bought the powder and the liquid type, which is on sale btw lol!
ReplyDeletecan't leave home without this anymore... im am addicted to it!
no more breakouts, natural finish and it doesn't cake the entire day....
God bless nikki!
I love this stuff as well! I just wish they came in more shades.
ReplyDeleteI'm using natural ochre :) and it really looks natural and you can always build up the coverage and it doesn't irritate my skin and doesn't cause me breakouts :D
ReplyDeletemy one gripe about this is, the lightest shade oxidizes on me.
ReplyDeleteI'm breaking out lately, so maybe I can try & see if this will work for me. Thank you, Nikki! And I promise to be positive today! =)
ReplyDeleteI will love your other eureka moment too for sure! I havent tried this product, as I havent joined the mineral makeup bandwagon yet ^^"
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! We can always use an inexpensive alternative, I haven't tried this one yet but I do love the older version so this is a MUST try!
ReplyDeleteThats after I finish my stocks which I still have a couple of due to BOGO sales.
I love Eureka moments! You find inexpensive products that really works! The buki is really tiny. Cutie. :P
ReplyDeletewow! it really looks natural and it perfectly matched your skintone! I always see this but I didn't know the coverage is really good.. plus its mineral makeup so less allergies yay!
ReplyDeleteI heard about how good this Maybelline Mineral powder was. Thanks for telling us!
ReplyDeleteI've tried the liquid foundation version! I honestly like liquid more than powder even though my skin is oily and its a really cheap find. I bought mine from the US though, its still not available here I think? I loved how many shades they had.
ReplyDeleteHappy pocket = less wrinkles, lol, totally agree!!!
ReplyDeletei have this on my make up stash and im lovin it to bits!! :)
ReplyDeletei use it to set my liquid foundation
and it really does the job of kicking oilies out of my face hehe :)
You've got dry skin and you love this foundation?!? I must check this out!!
ReplyDeletedid i say that i have tried too many foudations? and you had to chime in that yet another great foundation for dry skin and worse of all, it's cheap? Oh gosh, i just saw these on sale a couple of days ago but i am not sure if they are still. i am so going to check it out tomorrow. you evil woman!
ReplyDeleteThia, oh I've tried the Neutrogena one too, gosh, I do have a lot of powder foundation na :)
ReplyDeleteJillsabs, no it doesn't, that's the only downside, 4 shades. I'm not sure if they increased the shades na :)
PixyEla, awww thanks dear! and thanks for commenting! I'll see ya around!
Y, really? I do believe they sell it in different packaging!
ReplyDeleteElsa, oh yeah! I own the liquid type too! Both are great and inexpensive. I do like the Clear Smooth Minerals line,
Fifi, yes, you're right, shades are limited!
Liz, you mean dark ochre? I'm glad it doesn't cause you breakout :)
ReplyDeleteMalditang Doktora, so you must be really acidic!
Dang, oh girl! Breaking out lately? So sorry to hear that, maybe..let your skin breathe muna :) Goodluck and positive energy girl!
hana, awwww well whatever you use that works for you, you can keep doing that :)
ReplyDeleteMrs.Zeus , ooohhh I don't think I've even seen an older version of this! Lucky you for BOGO sales!
Pammy, the Kbrush is indeed the cutest thing!
Khymm, yes, it surprises me that it gives a good and buildable coverage!
ReplyDeleteAly, no worries, my pleasure
Bea, the liquid version is available down here and inexpensive too! I like the liquid more because of my dry skin! But both works well! :)
jo.frougal, hahaha *high five!*
ReplyDeleteoOchaOo, yay! Another lover! thanks for agreeing! :)
JC, well, girl! I do moisturize my skin prior to foundation application still :)
Jojoba, oh girl! we the dry skinned gals hold onto each other for support! hahah be careful still ok? I do moisturize my skin well prior to application :) Goodluck! And hey! you're as evil as me! I bought MUFE eye seal because of you and you know that! :)
and i was name dropped in this post! hahaha! i love my dark ochre too!!! super worth it :)) thanks for the first pot and thanks for pushing me to buy the second pot instead of mac.. i made the right decision because this is a cheaper alternative to mac nc40, with the same results and makes me retouch less too! my mac nc40 has definitely found its match hehehehe! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm using w02 natural ochre :) pag dark ochre kasi medyo orangey na sya sakin, i'm an nc35 shade user sa mac, natural ochre goes well with my clearsmooth mineral liquid foundation in apricot sand, i'm using this two if needed uber coverage especially for events and it really looks flawless! but for regular days kahit yung mineral powder lang puwede na and it last for 2-3 months kasi super tipid gamitin :D I super agree with your Eureka Moment for this product and the mini kabuki brush is a steal! :)
ReplyDeleteBeatrilicious, you know how I can't stop staring at your skin when you use this! I love how natural it looks on you without the "baking powder on face" finish! :) Definitely way cheaper as compare to MAC, why go for expensive stuffs when inexpensive works just as well?
ReplyDeleteliz, aaahh thanks for confirming, glad you found this working for you too :) More eureka moments for all of us in the future!
it's a good thing you reviewed this, nikki. i was hesitant to get this from the counter (hence, i took their mineral blush instead) since im contented with my joppa and pure anada mmu's. but your review kinda enabled me to check this prod out again!
ReplyDeleteHerroyalbleakness, well do wait for sales and test on the shades ok? If Joppa and Pure Anada works for you..naku stick to it na :) <--- if you can!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki! Does Dark Ochre match your skin tone perfectly?
ReplyDeleteHoarder, the photo is Dark Ochre which I gave to my friend but the one I own is in BUFF which is lighter and matches my skin tone better :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nikki!
ReplyDeletehi nikki! what moisturizer do you use before applying mmu?
ReplyDelete-Ann
ugh!!sana ito na lng nabili ko rather than the ELF mineral foundation.. since i ran out of my revlon, i've been looking for another cheap alternative MF..thanks for the review!

ReplyDeleteYou are welcome hoarder.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I am finishing up my L'oreal Hydrafresh. Before I've used the Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Skin Relief too :) I do finish up and then shift hehehe
AmeraHASSANA, this one really works! Maybe next time? and wait for sales, Maybelline has sales every now and then and the price is worth it!
I use this right now but I kinda noticed it gave break-out on my forehead. And after 5-6 hours, my face kinda gets itchy... :(
