Eureka Moment: Inexpensive Foundation that Works!

"What Inexpensive Powder Foundation works that isn't too pricey?" --- I have been asked this question so many times!  I'm glad to finally share this "Eureka Moment" and I hope this helps especially those who aren't earning their own money yet.  Please note though that these are my opinions and different individuals do have different skin reactions, so practice safe usage! <--- you think I'm going to say otherwise? *hahaha*!!!!

One brand that I've tried and surprised me is the Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation.  My dear friend Beatrilicious have used this herself and I've seen how it works on her oily skin too!  (Note: She is a MAC Powder Foundation user and she repurchased this after finishing one!)

The great thing about this mineral powder foundation is that this contains no preservatives, oils or fragrances and has SPF25/PA++.   It uses triple refined micro-minerals which have been specially selected to their purity and quality to improve affinity to skin.  Coverage will always be gentle and the skin is allowed to breathe. Skin that breathes means there's lesser chances for breakouts due to clogged pores.

In my experience, this works really well with normal to oily skin!  Dry skin individuals like myself can still use this but preparing the skin with moisturizer prior to usage is still needed as to any powder foundation.  This blends in your skin well and doesn't look cakey.  Retouching may be needed but not as much.

Does not cause breakouts!  I'm glad it's dermatology-tested and says to be safe for sensitive skin!    The promise on improvement of the skin condition, I haven't seen it yet, but as long as there's no negative reaction on my skin?  I'm okay with that!

It doesn't hurt that this comes with a cute K-Brush that's made in Japan, as I was told!  Personally, it's not a bad "free K-brush" as it's non-scratchy and does not shed much.  I find it just a bit too small though :)  But for it's price, it doesn't matter.

How much is this foundation you ask?  It's priced at Php599.00 (approx $13.00).  If you plan to purchase, wait for Maybelline sales every now and then!  Less 10%-20% will make your pocket happy!  The happier your pocket, the happier your skin, the lesser the wrinkles! :)  And the world works that way and you know that! *winks*

Here's Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation in Buff applied using free k-brush on a swirling motion.

  7. I'm using natural ochre :) and it really looks natural and you can always build up the coverage and it doesn't irritate my skin and doesn't cause me breakouts :D

  15. I've tried the liquid foundation version! I honestly like liquid more than powder even though my skin is oily and its a really cheap find. I bought mine from the US though, its still not available here I think? I loved how many shades they had.

  26. and i was name dropped in this post! hahaha! i love my dark ochre too!!! super worth it :)) thanks for the first pot and thanks for pushing me to buy the second pot instead of mac.. i made the right decision because this is a cheaper alternative to mac nc40, with the same results and makes me retouch less too! my mac nc40 has definitely found its match hehehehe! ;-)

  27. I'm using w02 natural ochre :) pag dark ochre kasi medyo orangey na sya sakin, i'm an nc35 shade user sa mac, natural ochre goes well with my clearsmooth mineral liquid foundation in apricot sand, i'm using this two if needed uber coverage especially for events and it really looks flawless! but for regular days kahit yung mineral powder lang puwede na and it last for 2-3 months kasi super tipid gamitin :D I super agree with your Eureka Moment for this product and the mini kabuki brush is a steal! :)

  28. Beatrilicious, you know how I can't stop staring at your skin when you use this! I love how natural it looks on you without the "baking powder on face" finish! :) Definitely way cheaper as compare to MAC, why go for expensive stuffs when inexpensive works just as well?

liz, aaahh thanks for confirming, glad you found this working for you too :) More eureka moments for all of us in the future!

  29. it's a good thing you reviewed this, nikki. i was hesitant to get this from the counter (hence, i took their mineral blush instead) since im contented with my joppa and pure anada mmu's. but your review kinda enabled me to check this prod out again!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Herroyalbleakness, well do wait for sales and test on the shades ok? If Joppa and Pure Anada works for you..naku stick to it na :) <--- if you can!
