AMW Reviews: Muji 7 Herb Fragrance Shampoo and Conditioner + Special Haircare Promo

The first time I set foot on a Muji Store, it was in Hong Kong and I was at awe as I wanted to purchase loads of stuff but I worry on excess baggage so I ended up with small, lightweight products like pencils, notebooks and of course nuts and chips!

When Muji finally opened its doors at Bonifacio High Street, I got the excitement of my life when I visited the store!  Though overwhelmed, I am most intrigued in 3 of their categories --- Food, Storage and of course, Health and Beauty!

I've always been a fan of Japan-made hair care products!  That's a huge reason why I went all the way to Shanghai to purchase Tsubaki and Aquair shampoo and conditioner sets both from Shiseido.  When I heard about the hair care line from Muji, I got really excited! Okay, they're all written in Japanese but let me translate it for you (as if!) *laughs*

 Seaweed Shampoo and Conditioner

 5 Fruits Shampoo and Conditioner
 7 Herbs Shampoo and Conditioner

And here's the set I got for review :)
(a bit worried on the herb part, let's see...)

Muji Shampoo and Conditioner says ---
There are five variants to choose from: Five Fruits, Seven Herbs, Seaweed, Mild Natural and Mild.
  1. Five Fruits - Infused with Peach, Pomegranate, Raspberry, Grapefruit and Apple extracts, this pair of shampoo and conditioner helps revitalize dull and dry hair and stimulate hair growth. Good for oily hair.
  2. Seven Herbs - Infused with Rosemary, Matricaria (Sunflower), Sage, Peppermint, Thyme, Jojoba and Lavender extracts, these herbs are known to stimulate growth of healthy hair, leaving it shiny and moisturized. Good for dry hair.
  3. Seaweed - For frequent hair washers, the seaweed extracts maintains a healthy scalp and helps develop shiny, healthy hair. Good for colored hair that requires daily maintenance.
  4. Mild Natural – Contains Coconut Extracts (Gugo), a popular natural ingredient that soothes the scalp and strengthens hair. Good for normal to dry hair.
  5. Mild – With a mild soap solution, this variant is perfect for sensitive scalp and fine hair.
AMW says ---
Pros
  • Very cute packaging that would look great in ANY bathroom.  The bottles are made from PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) bottles, which are eco-friendly and recyclable.
  • Pump is sealed to assure buyers you get the product fresh.
  • Nice pump which makes it easy to control how much shampoo and conditioner you need.

  • Smells nice, reminds me of most shampoos and conditioners that you find in most hotels.  Okay, the set is called 7 Herb Fragrance and there's nothing herbal in it!  It smells really good.
  • Does not oil up my scalp.
  • Hair feels soft and light the whole day.
  • Hair is easy to comb.
  • I feel like my hair has this nice "moisture".
Cons
  • All in Japanese wordings.  Can't seem to read the label.
  • Not everyone would be "okay" with the scent.  Could be a PRO or CON but the scent does not last long.
  • If you have very oily hair to start with, this may feel a bit heavy for you!  Go for the other variants made for oily hair.
Overall
I'm actually surprised to use a natural, organic shampoo (on its own) that does not dry my hair or make it feels like straw (base on past experiences).  I feel much at ease putting on natural ingredients on my hair as my hairdresser has been complaining on how sensitized my hair is!

Tips
  • If you plan to purchase this on sale, go ahead!   (Kindly read further below for more details).
  • For conditioner, always steer clear from the scalp area.  Apply from mid-shaft to the ends of the hair.
  • If scalp itches or dandruff occurs, stop usage immediately!
  • If you dislike hotel shampoos and conditioners, purchase containers and transfer.  Saves luggage space and your hair stay happy!
  • Use clarifying shampoo at least once a week to remove product buildup on your hair.
Will I repurchase?
Yes, in other variant!  I'm eyeing on the  Mild Natural variant as I have dry scalp or the Seaweed variant due to my color treated hair and I do wash my hair on a daily basis.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone looking for shampoo and conditioner made with natural ingredients and not much chemicals included.

Where to purchase and how much?
Shampoo costs Php925.00 (approx $21.50) and conditioner costs Php925.00 (approx $21.50).  Every purchase of 400ml bottles of MUJI Shampoo and Conditioner of the same variant saves you 20% from the original total amount of the two bottles. (that would mean, each would now cost Php740.00 (approx $17.20) this month of October!) You can purchase these at Bonifacio High Street, Rockwell Powerplant Mall, Greenbelt 3 and SM Mall of Asia.

*infomercial voice* "Wait!  There's MORE!"

MUJI officially begins the early Holidays this October. For every pair of socks or stockings or a piece of handkerchief, customer gets 50% off on his next purchase of the same item.

Food items will be on “Buy 1, Take 1 at 50% off” deal starting October 15 onwards. Customers will see doubles of snacks and goodies like Pea and Corn Snacks, Chocolate-Covered Peanuts, Dried Fruit Mix, Dried Squid and Lemon and Strawberry Marshmallows. These are ideal in preparation for the Halloween weekend. New favorites now include Special Pasta Sauces like Cod Roe, Squid Ink and Sea Urchin and pastries Easy to Bake Lemon Cheesecake and Pumpkin Scone.
Feel free to add them up on their FB Page (Muji Philippines) to learn more about Muji products and future deals!

I'd love to hear from you!
