Royal Effem Compact Powder Foundation Review

Another Royal Effem bestseller review!  I have the honor to try RE Compact Powder Foundation and share my experiences!  I'm glad to share that the brand actually likes to read my honest-to-goodness reviews and they like reading valuable feedback from consumers like me --- the good AND the bad!

It took me a bit of time to review the said product as everybody knows, I have dry skin!  I want to test this on oily-skinned individuals to get the maximum review!  Now that the post is here you know that I've tested this long enough and I hope it helps you in deciding whether you need this product or not!

Are you ready to rumble?

The RE Compact Powder Foundation is housed in a simple black packaging with a regular sized round mirror as seen in most powdered compacts!

Sponge Compartment!  This is the best way to package a powder foundation compact in my opinion!  I dislike the "used" sponge laying on top of the powder the whole time after every use!

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Black latex sponge is quite unique!

  • Has SPF.
  • Royal Effem Compact Powder Foundation does not have the same "wide range" of shades like MAC but they cater to a lot of skin color!
  • Though owning a lot of these as a makeup artist will take up a lot of space inside the traincase, what I love about this is the fact that this can be easily depotted.
  • Lightweight feel.
  • Unscented.
  • Can create light to medium to heavy coverage.
  • With the right shade selection, doesn't show white cast on photography.
  • One of the VERY few powder foundation that can be applied both WET and DRY and you wouldn't ruin the powder foundation.
  • Has good oil control so works for normal, combination and oily skin.
  • Doesn't dry out the skin, so dry skinned individuals like myself can actually use this product given that you moisturize your skin properly prior to usage.
  • Gives a "matte" effect but doesn't make your skin looks dull and dry.
  • I can still see a "glow" after full face application that looks like your own skin.
Cons
  • Not widely available in the local market for now.
  • Packaging is a bit big and bulky.  I would appreciate if the thickness of the packaging can be reduced even a bit!
Overall
This product has been compared to MAC's Studio Fix Powder Foundation a lot of times due to the similarity of texture and coverage but the big difference that I can immediately feel with RE and MAC is the fact that RE feels a tad bit lighter once applied.

Overall, this is a good foundation to try but I highly recommend everyone to check testers to get their right shade.

Tips
  • Always wash your latex sponge prior to usage.
  • Can be used as a setting powder by lighting dusting the powder  with a powder brush.
  • For light to medium coverage, apply using the sponge DRY.
  • For medium to heavy coverage, apply using a damp sponge.
  • I prefer to separate "wet" and "dry" sponge.
  • If you are a makeup artist, you can order their palette that goes with a lot of powder foundation shades without the bulky packaging!
Will I repurchase?
Yes.  This looks great on photos
To whom do I recommend this to?

One swipe on my clean finger

Gently applied on my hand
The color did match my skin but this has a tiny bit more pink undertone than yellow

Left: Bare faced
Right: Dry application of RE Compact Powder Foundation in 143

The right photo looks like my original skin, only better and healthier!

  2. The black sponge is so unique that I find it cute. And I agree that it's better to have a separate compartment for the sponge. It looks natural on you. :)
