AMW Reviews: Colgate Total Pro-Gum Health Toothpaste

As I'm almost at the end point of my pregnancy, let me share to you some of the things I took into account as soon as I learned I was pregnant.  Honestly speaking, I am surprisingly not as prepared as I imagined myself to be, I have so many things missed out when I compare notes with my mommy friends or pregnant friends!  But one thing I didn't miss for sure is to take care of my health as I want to be a healthy mom when Baby AMW arrives.

One test I didn't pass up is the test on Gestational Diabetes.  Gestational Diabetes is actually is high blood sugar that starts or is first diagnosed during pregnancy.  Pregnancy hormones can block insulin from doing its job. When this happens, glucose levels may increase in a pregnant woman's blood. (Source)

Once I reached 27th week, I went up for a test right away to make sure I don't have gestational diabetes.  Why?
  • My family has a history of diabetes.
  • I tend to lean on sugared drinks during my first 2 trimesters as I can't seem to down regular water.
  • I am older than 25 years old.
Thankfully, my results came in negative!  But that doesn't mean I can rejoice and enjoy all the sweets at sight!  I've decided not only to control the amount of sweet intake;  I also make sure to take care of my teeth.  Remember my previous review on Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief?   I did share a story about my last dental visit and I was advised that I do not only have sensitive teeth but I have sensitive gums as well!  Even without going to the dentist, I know I have sensitive gums as they bleed every single time I brush my teeth!  With the added sweets on my diet now that I'm pregnant, I do not plan to take risks and lose my teeth!  I've also added Colgate Pro-Gum Health Toothpaste in my daily brushing needs.

Overall
I was just boasting to my husband how grateful I am I don't have any teeth or gum problems by using the right kind of toothpaste.  At the start of my first trimester, I can feel my teeth loosening up and gums were always bleeding after brushing.  Now I'm nearing the end of my pregnancy, I'm glad I don't have to deal with any teeth-related problems and only have to worry on other pregnancy related symptoms!

Tips
  • Best gift for diabetics or even those who are into sweets or have bleeding gums each time they brush their teeth.
  • Use soft bristled toothbrush and brush your teeth and gums gently.
  • Have a dental check at least once every 6 months!
  • If you suffer from diabetes, have yourself checked with a professional and don't forget to care for your teeth as well!
Will I repurchase?
Yes!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Everyone!

Where to purchase and how much?
Costs Php126.00 (approx $3.15) based on SRP.

Recently, I've read a magazine article regarding Diabetics and gum problems.  Yes, Diabetics are more susceptible to develop serious gum disease as they decrease the ability to fight bacterial infection that invades the gum!  My mom, a long time diabetic, is starting to complain how her gums are in recession so I make sure she does not only take the right medication for diabetes but she has to pay special attention to her oral health as well!  I will definitely recommend this to both my mom and dad because I love them and I want them to stay healthy and happy just like the way they took care of me!

Do you or any of your loved suffer from diabetes?
Are you aware that diabetes could also cause gum problems?
