I Wonder: Products That Didn't Make It to AMW Approval!

Happy start of weekend everyone!

I am looking forward for the weekend as I'll be meeting up with high school friends for mini reunion!  Meeting and catching up with friends has always been a nice "life booster" for me so given the chance, I always make sure to make time for bonding!  And of course, Baby AMW will get the chance to meet mommy's friends!

Today's topic is a bit unique, instead of the usual product review or the usual Monthly Favorites, I've decided to write about 2 products that didn't make it to the cut!  I tried both products and have given them enough time and chances but I guess at the end of the day, they just didn't make it to the cut!

1. Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad

Back of the packaging

I have high hopes for the product as the packaging and the look of this reminded me so much of Lancome eye shadow quads.

Shades: Matte White, Matte Light Pink, Matte Light Gray and Medium Gray

I tried using this product with and without primer and both times the color didn't show as much as I want!  I tried using this with my fingers, a brush and sponge applicator, again, I wasn't impressed with the pigmentation and the texture of the eye shadow is dry.

I've tried other Avon eye shadows in the past and they were of better quality than this quad...I hope to get to try better shadows from the brand in the future!

2. Revlon Baby Stick

When I first received the Revlon Baby Sticks, I got so excited I immediately took photos of them and gave them a test right away!  Can you say NO to these cuties?

Shade: Tahitian

Shade: Pink Passion

Shade: Sunset

Judging by the physical look, they are quite promising and I was hoping for a true-to-the-packaging pigmentation as well!

Unfortunately, upon testing the product on hand, all 3 products didn't show and I had to swipe each color at least 4-6 times before they get to appear on my hand and photo.

1. Tahitian
2. Pink Passion
3. Sunset

I tried applying these on cheeks and same as my hand swatch, they didn't show up at all so I've decided not to take photos of them!  Since Revlon Baby Stick is meant for lips and cheeks, I also gave all 3 colors a test on my lips, sadly, the colors didn't show at the same time, there wasn't enough moisture so I can't seem to use them at all!

So yeah, Friday is a happy day but I hope I didn't spoil your day by mentioning products that didn't work for me!  But keep in mind that it's my personal experience, these products that do not work for me may work for others!  If you've tried any of the mentioned products above, let me know how you feel about them!

  2. I have Avon eye shadows but they are quite pigmented. Seems the products can be a hit or miss. Too bad, Revlon baby sticks looks promising but they are actually not what we are hoping for. So true to the saying that we should not judge the book by it's cover! :)

    1. I agree on the cuteness, they are indeed SUPER DUPER cute! I'll probably use them on young clients! Flower girls or those junior bridesmaid!

  5. Thanks for posting this! I admire your honesty and candidness. Really helpful for your readers who would actually shell out cash to buy products that you review. It's not everyday that someone would actually say something unfavorable about something given to them for free :) So kudos to you NIkki! Keep up the good work! :)

I wonder why they made it less pigmented, coz as far as I know, Revlon lip color mostly quite pigmented.
