Weekend Food Trip at: Modern China, Glorietta 4

First food post for the year 2014!
Let's talk about Chinese food!  Who loves Chinese food?  Well, obviously, I do!  I can still remember my strong desire to eat Chinese dimsum even a couple of hours before I gave birth!  Yes, I ate even when my doctor was against it!  #TigasNgUlo

Before we bid 2013 goodbye, my friends wanted us to meet up for a quiet post-Christmas dinner.  Modern China was suggested by one of my friend who dined there a couple of times!

Spinach Shrimp Dumplings
Php120.00 (approx $2.79) for 4 pcs
We actually went for 2nd round as this was extremely good!  Even my non-vegetable lover guy friend enjoyed this!  The good thing about Modern China's version of Spinach Shrimp dumpling is that the amount of spinach was just right so you don't get the overwhelming taste of it.

Shrimp Pork Siomai
Php120.00 (approx $2.79) for 4 pcs
I've tasted enough Pork Siomai in my lifetime to know which are good and which are blah.  So far, the version of Modern China is good, not the best, but not blah either!

Stewed Cabbage in Superior Soup
Php380.00 (approx $8.80)
That price for just a cabbage?  It is indeed pricey and I don't get it at first why my friend loved this so much!  I mean, just by the look at it, it is obviously nothing special. UNLESS, you tasted it!  This is the most flavorful and easy to chew cabbage I've tried!  I still find this dish pricey, but thankfully, it is delicious! Worth it if you're vegetarian and you want something more flavorful!

 Beancurd Spring Roll
Php350.00 (approx $8.13)
This look totally different from the photo on menu!  Though amazingly beautiful on the outside, it is mostly vegetables on the inside and not as flavorful as I expected.  Will definitely give this a skip next time I revisit Modern China.

Stuffed with Dried Scallop Sauce
Php480.00 (approx $11.16)
So far, Stuffed Beancurd has always been a favorite of mine in ANY restaurant!  My favorite at the moment is still from Luk Foo.  The Modern China version is a bit bland and you don't see much of the stuffing.  I find this dish a bit expensive for a few pieces of beancurd.

House Special Fried Chicken
Php380.00 (approx $8.80)
There is a reason why this is called the House Special Fried Chicken.  Small pieces of chicken fried in salted egg and breading, really crunchy on every bite!  I am quite surprised I enjoyed this dish as I'm never a fan of salted egg!

Overall, the restaurant is really spacious and the interior is "modern".  The staffs are really helpful and service is good!  I enjoyed dining in this restaurant, some of the dishes are just okay so I'll definitely go back and try other dishes!
