AMW Reviews: Maybelline New Super Mineral 24 with Perlite 2-Way Cake Foundation

Hi everyone! Hope this day is treating you well.
I'm a powder foundation person and I usually go for BB Cream or CC Cream then powder foundation!  That's why I was really ecstatic when I got the newest Maybelline 2-Way Cake Foundation!

The packaging is the best that I've seen from Maybelline (in my humble opinion).

Shade on Spotlight: OC2

This two-way cake foundation with mienral-rich water and micro-mineral perlite gives long-wearing, full coverage.  Get flawless, breathable, shine-free control, that is suitable for sensitive skin.  With SPF30/PA+++

Pros
  • Better packaging.
  • Comes with a wide mirror and good quality sponge.
  • Can be used either wet or dry.
  • Gives a bit of "brightening" effect.
  • Has decent coverage.
  • You can purchase and separate refill.
  • Price.
Cons
  • Retouch is needed after 2-3 hours for oily skin.
  • May not be suitable for users with very dry skin.
  • May oxidize on you if you have very acidic skin.
Neutral
  • Matte finish.
Overall
Not the most unique 2-way cake foundation I've tried but for the price, it is worth having a look at the newest baby for 2-way cake foundation from Maybelline.  What I noticed from using this product is the smooth texture of the powder that gives an overall "glow-y" look minus the shine.  Oil-control is decent, my sister who uses this told me she had to retouch at least once every 2-3 hours and she has combination skin (oily on the T-zone).

Tips
  • If you prefer to use both wet and dry method, wet one side of the powder and use the other side dry.  Keep it that way to keep the powder from spoiling.
  • Use the sponge with a patting motion for higher coverage.
  • Use a big powder brush or Kabuki brush for light to light medium coverage.
  • Use powder brush to "set" your liquid foundation.  Using a powder foundation to set gives extra coverage.
  • Wash the sponge AT Least once a week, or better yet, purchase extra facial sponges and throw the old ones away.
  • For wet application: spritz your sponge with you favorite facial mist, do not soak the sponge on water.
Will I repurchase?
My sister will!  She loves Maybelline powder products!

To whom do I recommend this to?
Girls who like the light to medium coverage of a powder.

Where to purchase and how much?
Compact with refill priced at Php719.00 (approx $16.34)
Refills available Php469.00 each (approx $10.00)

Before and after
Applied Maybelline New Super Mineral 24 with Perlite DRY
The powder evened out my skin yet a bit of redness still shows on my cheeks.  This can easily be covered if applied wet.  I prefer to use a concealer underneath and use Maybelline Cake Foundation on top!  I dislike using "wet" method on all my powder foundation! :)

  2. Buti na lang sinasabi mo na nag ooxidize! I like their mineral foundation (yung powder na nasa tub) kasi nag match sya sa skintone ko and hindi nag ooxidize. Hindi ko peg mag retouch so no-no na, thanks for the review sis muntikan na ko bumili!

  3. I find the coverage of this powder perfect. But there's so much it can improve on its staying power. It's my go-to powder though. :)
