AMW Reviews: Benefit Bigger Than BB Big Easy (Medium)

Happy Monday AMW Friends!
How's your weekend?  I had a blast at #Kyles1stBirthdayParty over the weekend!  And the next day?  I went back to work and did makeup to an old client early morning!  Thank God for giving me the energy I need! :)

Today, I am so excited to share Benefit's Bigger Than BB Big Easy Liquid-to-Powder Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector!  I attended their press launch as reported HERE, and I have to admit, this is one product I immediately opened and used without taking photos!  I actually took photos after my US trip and I brought this with me and used this all throughout the trip!  I had to test this again upon returning to check how this product fairs in our own weather!  Check out my review if this product deserves to be called BIGGER THAN BB!  (You guys know how much I love my BB creams!)

The box and the print of the packaging is exactly the same!

Benefit says ---

BIGGER than BB! Why? Two reasons. First, big easy balances moisture & controls oil. Second, the cushiony liquid-to- powder formula melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight & velvety like a powder.

This multi-balancing complexion perfector gives light-to-medium natural coverage to even out skintone and conceal imperfections. Even better, it contains ingredients known to soothe & comfort the skin and help fight free radicals. One & done…big easy saves the day! Non-comedogenic. Oil-free.

Beauty balancing act!
  • Balances moisture & controls oil
  • Self adjusts on skin
  • Perfects & evens with liquid-to-powder finish
  • Protects with broad spectrum SPF 35 to help prevent aging

Ingredients

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Comes in 6 shades!
  • Packaging.
  • Non-drying, can be applied on my very dry skin even without moisturizer underneath and my skin stays hydrated.
  • Works for all skin types!
  • Non-greasy.
  • Gives light to medium coverage.
  • Lightweight, skin never feels greasy even under the harsh sun and humid weather.
  • The effect is very natural.
  • Has SPF35. I forgot my sunblock and it was extremely sunny when I was at the Universal Studios and Disneyland, so far....my body got dark but my face did not! :)
  • Does not create white cast even on flash photography (if you picked the right shade)
  • Evens out my skin.

Cons
  • If you are looking for heavy coverage face product, this may not be enough.
  • MAY cause allergic reactions to some.  (Please read ingredients list)  Scroll further down to read my experience when I first used this!
Neutral
  • Price.  If you love this, it is worth every single penny, if you need more coverage, you may find this a bit too expensive as you need to purchase concealer and additional liquid foundation.
  • Scent.  Has very light "sunblock" scent that goes away after a minute or 2.
Overall
This product definitely does balancing act!  It moisturizes the area that needed hydration the most and my t-zone area remains oil-free!  Benefit's Big Easy gives light to medium coverage creating "your skin but better" effect.  It goes from cream to powder finish and holds oil at least 5 hours (for normal to oily skin).

Tips
from Benefit
  • Apply to moisturized face with fingertips, blending for an even, natural finish. Pat on more wherever you want to build coverage.
from AMW
  • Can be applied using your clean fingers, brush or sponge.  I prefer my fingers!
  • Best applied after your skincare routine.  You may add your favorite sunblock pre-Big Easy application if you need more protection.
  • For a very natural look, apply Big Easy and set areas of your face that oils up with your favorite setting powder.
  • For heavier coverage, apply Big Easy and conceal problematic areas with your favorite concealer or liquid foundation.
  • For more coverage, apply more on the areas needed with patting motion.
  • If you want to maintain the very natural glow, retouch using loose setting powder ONLY on areas that oil up!  As for me, I can get away without retouch!
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Anyone who likes the "your skin but better" effect. Users who prefer "natural" makeup look will enjoy this product on its own.  Benefit Big Easy is best for women on-the-go!

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Benefit counters for Php2,000 (approx $47.62)

Squeeze tube packaging making it very easy to control the amount of product to dispense.

Shade: 04 Medium

04 Medium has warm undertone so this works perfectly for my very "yellow" skin.

In less than a minute after blending, product disappears without the "chalk-y" finish most BB creams give.

Bare Faced AMW

The amount of Big Easy I use on one cheek.  I prefer to apply using my clean fingers with a downward motion.  I apply more on my undereye area and sides of my nose.

Here's my first-time Big Easy usage story:
I used this product when I was in San Francisco, weather was around 9 degrees coldest and around 18 degrees warmest.  It was extremely windy on some days so the first time I applied this, my skin did NOT dry out as it usually does in cooler weather.  My skin did not oil up too and I did not go through any retouch as I'm more busy taking care of Baby AMW!

3 days after using Big Easy, I immediately noticed some red bumps on my cheeks and it itches especially night time before going to bed. The only new product I used was Benefit's Big Easy so the product was an easy target to blame!  Since I did not bring any other BB creams or foundation with me, I braved using the product consistently for the next days.  So far, the bumps reduced and it never returned even until this very day.

My thoughts:
The weather change, jetlag PLUS new product usage may cause my skin to go crazy (or could be my allergic reactions to food), but moral lesson of my story, if you are using a new "FACE" product, it is best to do a patch test at the back of your ear or on the chin area to see if there are any negative reactions before you apply it all over your face!

AFTER Big Easy Application

Before and After
As seen on photo, my skin looks better, more even.
The small redness on my cheeks and dark undereye circle were reduced.

  2. I think my skin color is a few shades darker than yours but the Benefit saleswoman insisited that 04. Medium was the right Big Easy shade for me so I bought that shade. Now, I'm worrying if I got too light of a shade.
