Initial Thoughts on: Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush and Foaming Cleanser

If you're a Beauty Blogger, you probably heard about Clarisonic and you probably own one or wanted one at least once in your entire blogging career!

I was one of them!  But luckily, I got a Skinsonic Skincare System  which I used and loved for almost a year!  In case you're wondering, no, it didn't die on me but it went through a horrible accident!  Our house help dropped it (hopefully unintentionally) and it died in an instant!  Can't blame Skinsonic, it was at least 4 feet high!

For the remaining months, I learned to rely on My Konjac Sponge for twice a week exfoliation and so far, my skin can manage without this high-tech electronic gadget.

Recently, I received a Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush kit and boy oh boy was I excited to use it!  I immediately used it and have been using it for the past 2 weeks!  So here I am sharing my initial thoughts!

Are you ready?

The cleansing brush kit includes the ff:

2 Brush Heads

The box states that cleansing by hand is not enough especially if you wear makeup!  With the Mary Kay Cleansing Brush, you remove makeup 85% better than cleansing by hand and you can help boost the absorption of your next skin care step (toner, moisturizer).  Aside from those mentioned above, this brush provides deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation and massaging in one easy step!  You will see the appearance of your skin to start improving immediately after use as it helps polish away the look of past skin damage for a more even-looking complexion.

Pink - makeup residue remaining if you wash by hand.

Now that's what the description says and now, it's my time to share what I have to say using the Mary Kay Cleansing Brush system.

For first-time skincare gadget user, this is definitely perfect for those who aren't into gadgets!  Even without reading the manual, you will know how to operate the Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush without any help from an expert!

Insert 2x AA batteries as shown on photo below.

Pick one of the 2 brushes and clip it on.

There are only 2 buttons for you to worry about.  One is the on/off button and the other one is the two-speed power button.  Just push the button once for a lower speed and twice for higher speed.

Now on to the Foaming Cleanser.  I originally wanted to use my own facial wash but decided what the heck?  This was sent to me by pair so I might as well use the foaming cleanser!

I usually don't change my facial wash without testing it beforehand on one side of my face but since I've had good experience with past Mary Kay skincare products, I went ahead.

The facial cleanser is very gentle, lathers easily and it definitely works for my combination (normal/dry skin).  I did not encounter any skin irritations or allergic reactions so this definitely deserves a thumbs up from me!  I did say the facial cleanser is gentle so if you wear heavy makeup, keep in mind to remove your makeup with cleansing oil or makeup remover first before you wash your face.

Ingredients of Foaming Cleanser

I mentioned that I have used this for 2 weeks straight so here are my thoughts on this high-tech skincare system ---

Pros
  • The system is very easy to use.  No manual-reading required.
  • At first use, my skin felt very clean yet never tight.
  • Skin feels smooth and hydrated after use.
  • Skin looks brighter and glowing the next day.  There must be better product absorption as I'm using brightening skincare products.
  • The brush is very soft and never rough on my sensitive skin even if I choose the higher speed.
  • I have the luxurious feeling of a facial yet the price of the Cleansing Brush isn't bad at all!
Cons
  • Battery-operated, you will spend on AA batteries but I highly suggest you to invest on rechargeable batteries.
  • The brush does not have a protection cap.
  • I prefer if the brush comes with a stand!  I have nowhere else to place the Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush but on the "plastic" that comes with the box!
  • The hassle of changing brush heads after every 3 months.
Overall, I'm happy with the performance of Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush, I just wish they came up with brush stand and brush cover as I'm OC like that!

Performance wise, this brush passed my standard.  My skin feels squeaky clean minus the tight/drying feel after every use!  Considering I use this system everyday, I am surprised I don't suffer from dry, flaky skin anymore!  I guess the Mary Kay Skinvigorate Foaming Cleanser also plays a huge role!

  1. Hey Nikki, just to let you know. Clinique launched similar product in Sydney last week and it has a cap and a stand that doubles as a charger. Cool!
