AMW Reviews: The Body Shop All-in-One Instablur

How much do I love primers?
A LOT!  And mind you, I don't use them a lot but I make sure to use them on my clients!  I bring with me different primers for different skin types!  I just want to make sure I cover them all!

That's why when I learned about the new InstaBlur from The Body Shop, well, this primer is meant to be the perfect primer to use if you want to "Blur" out skin imperfections like the programs you use for your photos!  Who doesn't like to bring those blurring skills from Photoshop to life?  I know I want them!  I immediately gave this a test and read further below to see if this passed my standard to be part of my "Primers Kit".

AMW says ---
Pros
  • Packaging.
  • Blurs lines and a bit of pores.
  • Has a matte, powder finish.
  • Controls oil at leat 30% better (referring to extremely oily skin users)
  • Does not dry out my skin.
  • No scent.
  • Even after applying several layers, it doesn't cake.
  • Foundation glides on so much easily.
  • Instablur does not change the consistency of my foundation.
  • Lightweight, skin feels bare and I felt like I had nothing on.
Cons
  • If you don't like the silicone-primer feeling, it does have that kind of feel.
  • If you have extremely large pores and distinct fine lines, do not expect the product to blur them completely.
Overall
A good primer that does blur out a bit of the lines and pores (not completely though), makeup lasts a tad bit longer and skin feels really smooth!

Tips

  • I find using my fingers the best took in application.
  • Instablur is applied after skincare.
  • Small pea size amount is enough for the whole face concentrating more on areas that needed "blurring action".
  • Can also be applied in between the day for "retouch".
  • It gives an instant mattifying effect, this may be a concern for dry skin users like me so use a good moisturizer prior to using Instablur.
  • You need to warm up the product between your fingers or at the back of your hand for the product to spread easily.
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Normal, Oily and Combination skin.

Where to purchase and how much?
At local The Body Shop stores for Php1,195.00 (approx $27.00)

Tube Packaging.
25ml is not a lot of product so use sparingly.  My tip is to always apply on areas that need priming action.  (Ex. Nose, forehead, etc...)

The texture is like that of a silicone.  But once you blend it well with your fingers or brush, it melts right into your skin filling in pores and lines.

The effect isn't as obvious but upon close scrutiny, the lines at the back of my hand was blurred a bit.  The area becomes smoother (like a baby's bum!)

AMW wore TBS All-In-One Instablur
This photo was taken under natural sunlight, no filter under automatic setting.  Photoshopped photo just to crop the size.  This photo was taken after a half day full of errands.  Normally, I sweat a lot and grease up a bit on the T-zone, with TBS Instablur, I was able to get away by just patting a bit of my favorite Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow face powder on my t-zone.

This product will probably be compared to Benefit's Porefessional and Maybelline's Baby Skin Pore Eraser (will review this soon).  For me, they are different in their own ways and will probably share the difference once I'm done reviewing the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser.

  1. Was about to ask the difference between this and Maybelline's Baby Skin Pore Eraser, but since you've already mentioned that you'll be doing a review (yay!), I'll just wait for it.
I wanna hear your thoughts on this since they both have a silicone-like feel, and I don't wanna spend around 1,200 pesos if I already have one similar product.. Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Wow nice selfie there! What foundation did u use? I thought this product would have skin care properties like Kiehl's microblur but I guess it's just another silicone primer.
