AMW Cooks: Hashed Corned Beef Pattie

Have you encountered a "Eureka!" Kitchen moment then you realized you don't have enough ingredients to be experimental and brave?

Well, it was exactly that moment earlier this week when I plan to do something nice for the family!  Then when I looked into the fridge, I only have 1/4 of a ground pork left with a couple of pieces of potatoes!  What should I do?

I made breakfast for dinner!  I even posted this photo on Instagram and have followers guess on the list of ingredients!  It was actually a fun guessing game because it may look like just a regular Corned Beef with Potatoes but there's more to what is visible to the naked eye!  hahaha!  Are you realy for the list of ingredients?

Ingredients:
  • Diced Potatoes
  • 1 can of Corned Beef (I used PureFoods)
  • 1/4 ground pork
  • Onion
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • Salt, pepper and soy sauce to taste
  • All-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
Steps

In a bowl, mix all ingredients and blend it well.  Add All-purpose flour and 2 eggs until the mixture turns "sticky" but not hard.

Add in corned beef!  This step is actually optional, if you have enough ground pork you may either skip the ground pork or skip corned beef!  In my case, I actually like the confusion of biting ground pork and corned beef!  It gives a unique texture on every bite.

In a pan, pour in cooking oil and gently roll each mixture on your hand and drop it on hot oil.  Use a spoon or spatula and gently press the mixture making it into a "pattie".  Leave it for at least 5 minutes one side before you flip to make sure the mixture won't scatter.

Cook the other side until brown.  Voila!  Instant Breakfast for Dinner dish!

Do you have any other ingredients in mind to add in this unique yet very simple dish?
I wanted to recreate this adding up Bacon!

  1. I do that all the time..opening the drawers and fridge to see what to concoct..Don't worry hindi po kayo nag-iisa..hahaha.. If you get to have the chance, and bought some added ingredients, you can make it like an okonomiyaki. It's sort of the same. I remember doing mine with corned beef, potatoes, some onions, rosemary, and I added Paneer, a curd cheese usually used in Indian Cuisines. I have it in stock cause I love Masala with it. You can substitute it with a ricotta cheese or a very firm tofu too! Happy Cooking! (^....^)
