AMW Cooks: Maya Pancake Recipe

First Cooking Blog Show with my son #KyleNash!

First recipe of Mommy AMW and Toddler AMW
Maya Fun Cakes

Back story first, Kyle, isn't like most boys his age, whenever we go to a toy store, he would walk pass toys after toys and goes straight to "toy kitchen" and memorize his fruits and vegetables!

Whenever I give him some iPad time, he would pick Cooking Mama and the rest of the cooking Apps installed.

So as young as 2.7 years old, I knew he's our Mini Chef!

So when friends from MAYA sent me a "Baking KIT', I knew I can transform this to a "Mommy-Son Bonding Activity"  And fellow mommies?  If you're out of ideas on how to extend "play time" with your kids, you may start including them in your "kitchen activities".  In return, the usual boring task we do can turn into something magical!

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable  oil
  • 1 x 2/3 cups water
  • 1 pack Maya Pancake and Baking Mix 350g
Steps:

Put all the Maya Pancake and Baking Mix in a big bowl.  Add 2 eggs.

Pour water.

Add 2 tablespoon vegetable oil.

Mix all ingredients together until free of big lumps.

At this stage, I put my "OC-ness" aside and let Kyle do his thing!  I guess all the Cooking Mama playing paid off!  Look!  He's a natural!

It will be a bit messy cooking with kids I tell you, but, the experience was definitely worth it!  The smile on his face was definitely worth it!

Once he's done with his "playtime", it's time for momma to get back to work.  Go ahead and mix everything well making sure the batter is free of lumps.

Since we have a kid and both Mr. AMW and I are kids at heart, we've decided to create Mickey Mouse pancake!

Put the Disney Character cookie cutter directly on the hot pan or skillet, pour pancake batter on a lightly greased pan.  Don't be afraid to make a mess, you can always clean up later!

Cook one side until bubbly and flip the other side.  Tip:  Set the stove in low fire.

Voila!  Instead Fun Cakes!  Feel free to decorate your fun cakes with confectionary sugar, fruits and you may add in butter.

Since Kyle likes it simple, we gave him the Fun Cakes just as it is!

And he enjoys blurting out alphabet too!  He goes "M" and "W"!

Definitely a great way to make them enjoy eating too!

Now for the adults, we managed to create our homemade syrup and enjoy the rest of the Fun Cakes with a hot cup of chocolate.

Overall, Fun Cakes are easy to do and I can't wait to purchase more character-shaped cutters!   Kyle used to just watch me cook and I'm glad he get to be involved this time!

Do you let your kids join you in your Kitchen activities?
Do you have other kid-friendly recipes in mind?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!
