Do You Need A Primer/Lip Concealer?

As soon as I saw the Tony Moly Primer Lip Concealer in their store, I immediately put it in my shopping basket without thinking twice!  I always have dark pigmented lips and I have mentioned so many times on my blog how I use foundation or concealer in concealing lip pigment when I wear lighter shades of lipsticks.  Now, if there is such product that is made specifically to "prime" and "conceal" the lips, I definitely have to give this a try and see if this is worth the investment or I can go back to my foundation/concealer technique.

According to Tony Moly ---
Creates a clean nude tone to increase color pigment of lip makeup.  Silky texture offers resilience to the lip and protects lip and locks in moisture.  Allows for the creation of various lip colors from nude to vivid red lips.

Arm Swatch
The texture of Tony Moly Primer Lip Concealer is very watery, it is even more watery than most CC creams, Tinted Moisturizers, Liquid Foundations I've tried!  The shade is almost creamy milk with cool undertone.

As for application, I highly recommend YOU to first apply with a thin layer.  Use the least amount as possible.  But because I have heavily pigmented lips and I just finished applying lipsticks for photography purpose, I've decided to give this product its' ultimate test so I applied a thick layer of this product.

With a quick patting motion, I gently pat the product concentrating on dry areas so it will help "fill in the gaps" and create a smooth base for my lipstick application.

Before and After
Because of its' watery texture, application is quite easy to apply.  It does feel weird for me at first to use such watery texture on lips but it quickly dries up into almost "Powder-like" finish.  Now, if you have EXTREMELY dry lips like I do (since I just finished taking photos with "x"  number of lipsticks), I felt that this product did a great job in not enhancing my lips dryness, instead, it helps hydrate my lips a bit.

The best way to use this product is to apply this is after you are done with the rest of your makeup.  Prior in doing your makeup, it is best to hydrate your lips with your favorite lip balm, wipe off excess moisture and apply a good amount of Tony Moly Primer Lip Concealer in patting motion.  Once you are happy with the coverage, let it sit for a couple of seconds before your apply your favorite light or dark colored lip products.

As for me, I can actually wear this product alone!  I can be creative and use this to mix with my dark colored lipsticks to create a different shade of lip color!

Please bear in mind that this product will work differently on each individual.  If you have naturally light colored lips, the effect will even be lighter almost "nude".  It is best to try on testers before you purchase because they have testers available in store.

I personally like to use this product if I plan to create ombre lips or when I want to make my lighter colored lipsticks work!

Do you think you need such product?
Or will you stick to liquid foundations/concealers?

Stay happy!

  2. Not a fan of the powdery lip look on me. I might use it to decrease the shine of certain lipsticks that I prefer to be matte though.also, not bad for the price.

    1. So far, I can't see that function but I like how my lips are blurred because most light colored lippies won't show up on me
