Maybelline Color Sensational LIPgradation Review

Happy Monday!  Weekend is over but I still feel over the top from last weekend's AMW Series of Workshop: Get Ready for Summer!  It was a huge success because I made all attendees happy!  But more about that soon when I get to look at photos (no time for that as of the moment with my busy schedule this week!)  Instead, I'm sharing a quick review on Maybelline's newest lip product called LIPgradation!  Have you heard or seen this newest innovation from MNY (Maybelline New York)?

When I saw this on Maybelline's Instagram account, I knew I had to grab them even if I own gazillion of lipsticks to date!  #exaggerated And here's a quick overview on how quick it is to create "ombre lips" OR full colored lips!  I prefer the latter, you be the judge by commenting below!

There are a total of 8 shades available and I got 3 out of the 8!
The shades I got are L-R Pink1, Fuchsia1 and Mauve1
Please don't ask me why there's a number 1 after the shade!  I just see them on the shade sticker!

As opposed to the L'Oreal Caresse Tint which is in powder form, the Maybelline version is just like a regular lipstick on one side while the other side is a smudger tool!

I can't say this is exactly a "con" but you have to twist the side of the smudger tool for the color stick to swirl up!  It takes quite some times for me to get used to this because I tend to twist the "body" of the color stick!

How to use?  Really easy!  All you need to do is use the color stick side and apply the color on the center of your lips and use the smudger tool to blur out harsh edges, that is, if you are opting for an ombre lips!

If you want full-on lip color!  The easiest way is just apply the lip color all over your lips like a regular lipstick!

Tip:  I find it best just to apply the color at the center of upper lip, gently press your lips together and voila!  You have gorgeous gradiant lips!  At times, I find myself not using the sponge tool anymore!

Shade: Mauve1

Ombre vs. Full
Mauve is a medium brown shade.  It is best applied Full on me because I look sick if I try to create an ombre effect!  This shade is a perfect nude lip color on medium to dark skin tone.

Shade: Pink1

Ombre vs. Full
Pink is a gorgeous cool-tone bright pink shade!  I find myself having the need to blur out the outer corner of my lips with a lip concealer because my lips are heavily pigmented thus the ombre-effect won't show up without concealer!  I also prefer full application for this particular shade because the color is just gorgeous and it can brighten up my face and teeth!

Shade: Fuchsia1

Ombre vs. Full
Fuchsia is the only shade out of the 3 that I can wear both ombre-style and full!  This is a cool-tone purplish pink shade that is so gorgeous I can't stop wearing this!  The color would be perfect for all skin tone!

All 3 shades that I got from LIPgradation line is very creamy and smooth!  The lip crayon glides on like a dream even on my most dehydrated-lips stage!  Though this look like regular lipstick, please don't be mistaken by its' formulation!  The finish is from cream to powder and the effect are full-on MATTE! (all 3 shades!)  They are lightweight and easy to smudge but it stays for hours once set!

Because the crayon side is just like a lip crayon, I find it very easy to apply even on the sides of my lips making it a perfect lipstick application (For full application) even without lip brush!  I will definitely go for more shades because I am IN LOVE with the texture, the pigmentation and formula!  And if I may add, this lasts way longer than regular lipsticks so great job Maybelline for this!  Definitely a 2 thumbs up from me!

Maybelline Color Sensational LIPgradation costs Php399.00 (approx $8.50).

Which particular shade caught your attention?
Will you wear this shade ombre style or full?

Keep smilin'
Stay happy!

  1. I might look sick with mauve and pink when I applied it in ombre style though mauve looks office worthy when applied full.

  2. Maybe it is just me but I don't like the ombre look for the lips. I just don't get it. I like all shades but I'd wear them full throttle.
