Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick Review

Hoola is Benefit's iconic product to contour and warm your face.  I remembered using it a lot during workshops explaining attendees how to rightfully use it and how amazing it it.

Then came the Hoola Quickie Contour Stick, which is the cream stick version of the famous Hoola Box O' Powder.  I am so excited to use this especially since this is cream to powder finish which I think would work for my skin type.

Housed in a super cute Benefit-type of packaging.  Gold retractable stick that screams --- "I'm special!  Use me!"

I have been using this on and off since I've been trying out so many contour products, but after MONTHS, I'm finally ready to share my thoughts on this.

AMW says ---

Pros
  • Packaging.  So cute and unique in my dresser table.
  • Easy-to-use.
  • Creamy formulation, blends easily.
  • Cream-to-powder finish.
  • Works for all skin types.
  • Good pigmentation
  • Multi-functional, can be used on face, body etc...
  • This product can be used to adjust the shade of a light base makeup.

Cons
  • Only one shade available and would not work for those with cool undertone.
  • Will not last the whole day especially for those with oily skin.
Overall
A nicely packaged, warm-tone contour stick that's easy-to-use.  Good pigmentation, cream-to-powder finish and looks natural.

Tips

  • Best applied on top of your base makeup (non-powder).
  • Set with translucent powder if you have oily skin.
  • Must blend really well so there's no demarcation marks.
  • For natural-looking "warmth", apply key areas of the face that needs contouring and blend using a damp sponge to lessen pigmentation.
  • Mix this with a foundation that's too light for you to match your skin.
Will I repurchase?
Yes.

To whom do I recommend this to?
Those who loves to contour.

Where to purchase and how much?
At local Benefit counters priced at Php1,700.00. Available Rustans Makati, Greenbelt, Shangri-la, Trinoma and SM MOA.

Swatch
I find this way more pigmented than the powder counterpart
The shade has a slight warm undertone, matte finish.

How to use?
I like to apply this product once I'm done with my base makeup (before powdering).
I apply a good amount all over the areas of my face that I need warmth and contour.  Do not be scared to apply more than usual as the product blends easily.

Out of all the tools I used to blend this product, I personally find the damp Beauty Blender to be the best friend of this contour stick.  I tried using brush and fingers but it tends to move my base makeup.

AMW Quick Tip: Blend with quick dabbing motion.

Before and After

Have you tried any of the HOOLA products?
Would you go for the powder version or this cream stick?
If I want a more dramatic warmth, I'd immediately pick this stick version and use the Hoola Powder to "set".
