Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Ink in 501 - Dark and Vampy

In my in-depth review of the Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Ink, I knew I had to add more to my liquid lipstick collection because they work in a way especially for makeup artists who needs a couple of shades inside the kit that is small enough to tote along + easy enough to mix and match shades to create a unique one for each client.

I recently added 501 shade in the collection.

Why housed in a nail polish like bottle you say?  Funny how one AMW reader DM'd me and told me she nearly screamed when she watched me applied this on my lips as she originally thought it was a nail polish!  Well, Make Up For Ever is a professional makeup brand as well so talk to any PRO MUA, I'm sure they'll have AT LEAST 1 Make Up For Ever item in their kit.  And speaking from the professional point of view, this packaging is perfect to bring inside the kit as it is small, easy-to-store and is housed in a clear bottle so you can easily see the shade especially when you're in a hurry!

Now on to the shade 501, I have to look into more natural shades for this same line but 501 is a nice cool, berry-tone shade to use for girls who have medium to dark complexion.  If you have fair skin like I do, this may appear dark and "vampier" as compared on bottle!

Now let me tell you one thing about this lip color, it looks ABSOLUTELY natural on photos but appears darker in person.  This is a type of lip color that I would wear if I knew I will go on camera or video and maybe lighten up the shade a bit with a dusk of face powder when I plan to use this to meet people.  Well, it is okay if I am aiming for dark makeup but since I am really into natural-looking makeup lately (hello crazy summer!), I knew dark makeup has to take a backseat and I have to step-up my "fresh makeup" game!

Overall, this is a wonderful shade to go for if you want to define your lips and maybe create focus on your lips instead of your eyes!

Now, same as the previous shades, they have the same texture, consistency and feel.  I just need a dose of "moisture" by adding my favorite lip balm in between the day because it tends to look dry and parched especially when I drink less water!
